i think in many ways the sun/moon is similar to the NN/SN emphases...the moon is what is familiar, what feels comfortable due to many lives immersed in this energy. the sun is what you came to THIS life to manifest. so the younger you are the more likely you will identify much more strongly with your moon. as you grow it becomes more of a resource which helps you perfect your sun "mission"... anyway that is how i see it...my pisces moon with it's rich imagination and identification with collective energies is a beautiful resource for acting out and becoming my leo sun...not that my sun has not always been operating in my life and outlook but it needs honing and activating to become fulfilled...IP: Logged |

agree with the above, well said ~only thing i can add is to keep in mind degrees which i've seen to be helpful regarding ease of using a particular energy, esp if its very early (0-5) or very late (25-29), the latter degrees are said to be quite learned from the get-go. but, no, i don't feel more of a Capricorn than a Capricorn Sun, there is a distinct difference that I can see when I'm around them and it comes from overall base orientation, my base energy has always been Pisces (my Sun), even with only 1 light/planet there, it's still me. Keep in mind the thread/topic starter is a Cancer; ruled by the moon. While it may seem confusing and contradictory, this topic is actually their Sun/Ego talking more than their Moon. I do not agree. Some moon signs are more flamboyant than others. IP: Logged |

I like kat's take on it. I experience it slightly differently though. I do see the Moon as the way we're comfortable being. The Moon is associated with memory, and we could say it's the "memory" of where we've been, creating the way we presently are. I don't think the switch to the Sun is chronological though. I don't think I'm becoming less my Moon sign as I age or more my Sun sign. I've always been comfortable being my Sun sign. Instead of growing into my Sun, it feels like throughout my life, my Moon influences the way I use my Sun sign. I feel like the mission is to be my Sun in a way that honors my Moon. If we compare the Moon with the SN and the Sun with the NN, I'd say that the way I experience the Sun and Moon is like a SN-NN conjunction. My Moon is in Leo and my Sun is in Sag. I may experience the Sun and Moon as working as constant partners because of my particular chart: ~Moon is ruled by the Sun. ~Moon is trine 5th house ruler (another solar feel). ~Sun is cnj 5th house ruler (Sun is comfortable with Leo energy, like my Moon). ~Sun and Moon are trine. ~Leo is on my MC, so what I'm becoming through expression in the world is what I already am on the Moon level. I get what you mean. We Cancers are naturally Moon-ruled (our depositor) so the expression of our egos is modified through our moons more than most. The expression of the Moon, for us, goes hand in hand with the Sun.

I can see my Moon (Aquarius) and my Sun (Sagittarius) in me. I am both. Interestingly I have had some friendships where they didn`t aspect my Sun-Mercury conjunction; I felt like there was a part of me they didnīt "get". If my Sun is aspected it feels like they "see" me, which for a 1st house sun is pretty important I think. So for me Sun aspects actually ARE important. Of course Sun is conjunct MErcury, and Mercury rules my 7th house. Oh btw Benedict Moon,
I agree with you. Even though I also see the different functions of houses and signs, there is a certain similiarity. My 1st house stellium often gives me the ability to get along with Aries, even though only IC and Chiron are in Aries. Of course Mars conjuncts my ASC - so that might figure in, too. Actually I think it all has to be considered. IP: Logged |

hmmmI see both my Sun (Aries) and Moon (Capricorn) in me. Belgz - Maybe, as some people said, you feel the moon strongly because you are a Cancer Sun. But most of my Capricorn-behaviour seems related to my Cap Mars (the dispositor of my Sun) - and not so much my Moon. A Cap Moon can be very gloomy.. I am more proactive.. in a Capricornian way. I work. I DO. I act. That's Martian. Cap Moon on its own can also be a bit bitter. I think that bitterness is toned down in me. IP: Logged |

jane - i think you said it better! i certainly am not leaving my moon behind and have always felt my sun too...but i feel the same way about the nodes...while many think the south node is similar to quicksand that holds you back from the north, i see it as those gifts and knowings that HELP you to reach your north node...i think a leo with a different moon is a very different kettle offish than i am!! and i agree that the sun sign will influence how strong your moon shines through...as well as their house placements. I haven't read the whole thread (yet), but I see my Sun, Moon and ascendant in me (Aries, Gemini and Scorpio).(My Moon is conjunct my South Node, so I automatically associate the two. Mars also squares both, so my Sun is linked to my Nodes, in a way.) IP: Logged |

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. While I definitely see that there's an essential difference between the house placement and the sign placement (house placement seems to me to be alot about conditioning-through early experiences, while the sign placement nature of the planet? Don't know if I explained that correctly), the similarity of the two energies is what allows basic affinity to take place. Atleast in our experiences it seems to work...LOL.
