Sun in the 1st didn't feel like familiarity to me - Moon in the fist/conj ascendant did that. Sun in my first put a huge spotlight on the person to where i could not escape their presence no matter how hard I tried. In addition, I've found that the first is like your phyisical being or presence...and when someone's planet, esp their sun is in your first, it's like they are RIGHT IN YOUR PERSONAL SPACE...for better or worse...I've found that very hard to ignore.

So it might definitely be that which contributes, DD....esp with your stellium there!
