Do any of you have this placement or know someone who does? I have read some of the online descriptions of this aspect and still don't really understand how this affects a person's behavior in love relationships. The general consensus seems to be that Saturn puts the brakes on Venus' ability to give or receive love. But how does that play out? Would this person always be controlled, as opposed to affectionate? I would love to hear your "real life" accounts.

I don't have it but I was just reading about the opposition.
It says it is easier than the square cuz the person goes back and forth between both halves(Saturn and Venus) trying to experience them.
The square and conjunction is more of a squished feeling . It is harder to tease out the separate Venus and Saturn energies and try to come to a peace with each of them .

Crappy patty. I've venus trine saturn in my Natal.

My first mirriage composite chart was venus opp saturn.
Our synastry was saturn opp venus DW

I feel inside me exact how it feels to have one venus opp saturn in the natal.

venus opp saturn take everything very serios including lovelife, family and money. People with this aspect take no risk. They will be sure everything works before they make a start something new. They think twice before they handle. Saturn takes sometimes time to get events happen but for me saturn and venus togheter bring wealth.

I have the square. I don't take initiative in relationships. I don't say "I Love You" first, I don't make moves. It's different if I feel completely secure. Security is the priority.

Ok I spent ten years with someone who has this aspect. Venus in Aries rules fifth and Saturn in libra rules seventh. I've been the only girl he's loved and even though he's crazy about me it's never been enough to go against his family and marry me. He's very career oriented like said above and doesn't care if he's not involved with anyone. Ge takes love very seriously and is very loyal, I think it seems that love is a scary issue after these people get burnt once. I have Saturn sextile Venus and I always want a relationship so as long it is always steady and serious. I never thought of this aspect before but yeah he controls his emotions and bottles it up like a typical taurean. His moon in Aquarius probably helps him

you guys are amazing, thanks all of you for sharing... I'm beginning to get a better idea.. I personally cannot imagine not caring if I never had another relationship, but I suppose some people might be horrified if they shared some of my placements, lol!

I have this aspect.

Saturn doesn't put the brakes on giving or receiving. If I had to pick between the two I'd say it's more on the side of not receiving or believing in the love another's giving, but I can't say that I shun love.

I am, or can be controlled in my manner. My Saturn is in the first, and I'm a Capricorn, so that goes with the territory. I'm quite affectionate, though, and would feel somewhat lost if I wasn't able to be affectionate with a girlfriend. I have Sun in the 8th and Mars in Scorpio, so those might factor into things.

To be honest, Venus opposite Saturn is one of the aspects I pay attention to the least. I don't really know how it plays out.

I have this - Venus in Capricorn in the 5th, Saturn in Gemini in 10th.

I don't have a lot of experience with astrology, I am a 'beginner', so I'm reading the stuff here with interest.

I was burned once, and you are right Belgz to love again seems a very scary prospect, so I fear that I will either not 'go there' again or sub-consciously choose someone with whom I can keep a bit of myself back. Neither option seems attractive to me, but I can see myself going that way.

I am attracted to the idea of a part-time relationship - with someone who doesn't live where I live. That way I can let go, but still keep an element of control? I am sure it wouldn't work that way in practice.

I find that I am completely myself with people that are unavailable (and this can often get me into trouble) - I am honestly not 'coveting' them, it's just that they are the only people I feel safe with.

With someone I am really interested in I am completely controlled and closed down - not helpful!

I spent 17 years with someone that I knew from day one was not the one for me - and with Scorpio sun and Mars in Aries, I always wondered how I managed to do that. Possibly helped by this opposition?

I feel I have 2 distinct 'states' - either controlled or uncontrolled - and I can choose which one I employ. There are no real shades of grey between the 2 states.

I accept that I still have a lot of my life left to live and learn though!

Hope that helps

This surely explains a lot... I am falling in love with a man who has the square. He is in a committed relationship with a married woman, they have been together for 3 years at least. Reading this I feel it's even less likely that bond will break, despite the deep affinity he and I share.

She also has the square and of course they have it in the composite as well. Me and him have the trine in composite but I guess soft won't do.

Their relationship perplexed me, I couldn't understand for the life of me why they'd stay in this situation for so long. If they love each other so much, why not make efforts to be together completely? He seems like the marrying type, at least that's how I see him. But perhaps I am wrong. CLEARLY I am wrong.

My sister has this opposition (Venus in Aquarius, Saturn in Leo), and she has been in a relationship for the past thirteen/fourteen years. She isn't afraid to show affection with him, but she isn't all that physically affectionate with others.

My book says that when you have the any of the hard aspects--you will favor one side or the other such as feel more Venus or more Saturn.
The rest of the chart can show which one you will favor.
The hard part is blending two very different energies.

My Venus is one of three planets in the 7th, so there's a fairly strong 7th house (Libra-Venus) theme in my chart. I am very drawn to creativity and beauty.

Saturn can be discipline, but it's also a stabilizing factor, so I'd ask that you not consider it as harsh as it may seem.

My sister is a Capricorn, like AG, so Saturn comes naturally to her - we balance each other out, with traits that bring out the feeling of, "I want to be her, when I grow up".

She has a great sense of humour, that doesn't come out to many people, because she's so shy. She loves to play with makeup and clothes, but doesn't get too flashy.. she always looks good, and throws beauty products and clothes my way, trying to help me out. I forget what half of the things do, but I was more girly when I was younger.. . I lost that somewhere along the way. She also turns heads - she's very pretty.

Anyway, she's basically a classy, creative, funny, hard-working young woman. She makes her own lotions and tried her hand at making soap. I think the opposition might show more of her social anxiety (not speaking for anyone else here, just my sister). That, and her Moon in the 12th.

Dear Deliverance,
Do you think Venus in Aqua makes the square harder cuz Aqua does not commit easily on it's own ?

Hi Ami - how does the rest of the chart show you?

I have a successful career, but it doesn't drive me. I think I am more ruled by my heart. So I suspect Venus wins, but just wondered how this would be indicated?

I would say it would add a Capricorn Venus feel a Venus of any other sign. Love has a little more emphasis on duty, substance, and responsibility. Saturn tells Venus to be cautious about what Venus invests in a relationship. It would make an Aries Venus think twice before tying the knot with such haste. At worst, difficulty in expressing love or feelings of being unworthy of love.

The Howard Saspratos book "The Inner Planets" has a section on Princess Diana's and Charles' Charts.
Diana had the Saturn /Venus square. The author said that Diana would be more on the Venus side cuz moon was the ruler of her chart and so she was a more feminine/recepetive type
rather than a Cap/Saturn type--if I have that right lol
So, you can see which side of the square you would gravitate to by the rest of your chart.
IOW, are YOU more comfortable with the Venus energy or the Saturn.
Which seems easier to express for you?
I know that for me, in general, some parts of my chart are very hard to express like Mars/Pluto and others are easier like the moon and Venus.
Ask anything else if this does not seem clear lol.

Dear Deliverance
That is so interesting that you are at peace not in a relationship.I have an unaspected Venus in the 7th with Taurus on the cusp.
I am new to astrology so don't always know the specifics of what things mean.
Would this mean that my Venus looks to express itself in romantic partnerships?
Thanks so much for any help.

An unaspected Venus would mean no planets are sharing advice or telling Venus what she should do. Mars would be telling Venus she needed to be more passionate and physical when expressing feelings of joy or love. Mercury aspects would be telling her to use her Venusian charm when attempting to communicate or write. So in short, Venus is free to be her loving, harmonious, and comfort-seeking self in your chart without the guidance or restrictions from the other planets in your chart. Since she is the ruler of the seventh, in the seventh, this magnifies her importance in your chart quite a bit. Since that the house of others or what we project onto other people, you probably have a way with easing tension around others. You give lots of love in the hopes that they will be loving back. Other people with lots of Venusian energy will be drawn to you.

Also, here is some good info from a site I pulled up: http://www.myastrologybook.com/Mercury-Venus-in-the-seventh-house-7th-house.htm

Thus the seventh house rules intimate one-to-one relationships of all kinds (including marriage, business and counseling relationships), open enemies and conflicts, lawsuits and the lower courts. Planets in the seventh house indicate areas in our lives that need relationships to bring them out, and the houses ruled by seventh house planets are those "areas." Many planets here indicate many needs that we are looking for others to fill. In this case many relationships (or more than one marriage) is probable, as it’s unlikely that one individual would fill all those needs. Individuals with so much projected energy feel a void in their lives, and may encourage others to be dependent, or even pick fights rather than be alone.

Venus in your seventh house is a very favorable position for partnerships, harmony in relationships and a happy marriage, to the extent that Venus is not weakened by sign or by aspect (see pages 76 - 78 in your personalized, fine art astrology book, "You and the Universe"). To that extent you have a loving nature and attract love to you, due to having been a loving soul in past lives. Social life and relationships of all kinds are of great value to you. You are very responsive and value this in others.

Ami,
I had read somewhere that the 12th house is your "blind spot". That you don't see the planets in the 12th clearly, or that they work more on a subconscious/subliminal level. The example they used was to imagine you are standing on your Ascendant looking straight ahead, facing the "inner" part of your chart. Just like with our peripheral vision, we can't see a whole lot directly to the left, or to the right. So that would be a portion of the 12th house, and also a portion of the 1st house that we don't see clearly. So it comes at us from our blind spot.
