maybe it's just that it's more accepted for women to chanel those energies.
if a guy started blabering like some girls do, he'd probably get negative feedback, making it less likely that he'd do it again. IP: Logged |

Interesting question. I think it depends on the house and planet. I have Mercury in Capricorn in the 4th house. I tend not to babble on or even talk at times because I am "in my own world". I also tend to have more male friends than females because I have a hard time with useless conversation that I find annoying - meaning, I could care less where someone went shopping, step by step details about their day or just making conversation.
I hope that doesn't sound rude LOL.. I don't discourage it from people, it just annoys me at times. I have a few female friends that love to just talk and talk- and I end up finding myself tuning them out and thinking about other things. Men can also be super talkers and they annoy me too. I guess that makes me an equal opportunity talk-hater 
Ironically, I have a Virgo ASC- ruled by Mercury and I am a Sag Sun. Sometimes I feel that I live by the phrase "Less talk, more action". IP: Logged |

LOL, that is funny BA, cuz i feel the same...i have a gem asc, mercury singleton, and jupiter in the 3rd and mercury conjunct sun and i dont gossip and i hate gossip....maybe my 8th house stellium in cap sextile my pluto and mars in scorpio overpowers it...------------------

I think you are on to something Nicki. I have Pluto conjunct my ASC in Virgo and I hate gossip. I find that people love to give me information, which I just listen to but never use because to me it is gossip LOL.. I seriously have an issue with blathering on- yet when it comes to posting, at times I will be very active and then I disappear for a bit, then come back LOL.. Oh.. and the phone, I hate talking on the phone whereas most women love talking on the phone to their friends. I have a few female friends but they are all like me. We talk when we can but for the most part we can go months without a conversation and then talk again like time never passed. IP: Logged |

I can talk for hours on the phone. I tend to keep the dialogue moving, so there are no awkward pauses. I used to text a lot, but I barely text anymore. I'm barely on social media anymore either. I just use MySpace for my Mods to e-mail me. And I've never been a fan of FakeBook. But yeah, I can talk up a storm.IP: Logged |

omg, a male gossiper...i hate awkward pauses...and i have those kinds of friends who also dont like to talk so talking on the phone is VERY awkward so our convos last like 5 mins, most of it silence, LOL------------------

Nah, Mercury is gender neutral....the only planet that is androgynous actually.

hahaha. You looks like more gossipy than my father who are 80 now  ..He talk on the phone more than 2 hours, last I saw him . I thought he was the only man . He have his merk in gemini. Actually they did studies on groups of men & women, where they counted how many words were said. Results shattered the traditional perception of women talking much more than men. They found men to talk just as much (albeit a bit less), but in different areas/topics as compared with women. How most of men's convos are being spent upon other men on sports, cars, etc, which women are usually not present to hear. When women tend to direct their topic of convos out to both sexes. The perception also, results from the fact women tend to nag more than men. Nagging gives the perception of long windedness. Of course there are naggy men as well, just not as much.

I have Virgo Ascendant , and so Mercury is chart ruler
Mercury conjunct Venus in Scorpio in 3rd
Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rdI can be quite the motor mouth and speak rapidly too, and so psychiatrists misdiagnosed as having bipolar. Both bipolar and ADHD diagnosis share high degree of talkativeness as criteria for diagnosis. ------------------

Merc in Cap... I'm talkative when you get me talking. Most people would never describe me as a chatterbox though b/c I really only speak when spoken too. That said, I do like to explain & give examples, very "lawyer" like... I also rehearse difficult conversations (in the shower, in the car)!

I'm pretty talkative. I have an air grand trine with Aquarius Mercury, Gemini Mars, and 3rd house Libra Pluto. It's weird because I really am a loner, too. I live like a semi-hermit. When people come over or I go to friends' houses, the conversations are always very long and interesting. My social life reminds me of this Laurie Anderson song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYQ-Al7ijk4 "Well it was one of those days, larger than life, when your friends came to dinner and they stayed the night.
