Touchy subject I'm sure.Where in your Aspects would it point to an Addiction to alcohol?
Does Pisces have the most influence to an addiction? I heard that somewhere, but don't know for sure.

I'd look at hard aspects involving Neptune
to the luminaries,personal planets, angles

hard aspects would include conjunction, opposition, square, quincunx, semisquare, and sesquiquadrate

in declinations,
parallels contraparallels

midpoint pictures that involve Neptune with luminaries, personal planets, angles

Free will is also the ultimate factor

I have all the above with Moon in Pisces, and I am not an alcoholic. I haven't drunk alcoholic beverages in over 10 years.

luminaries,personal planets,angles in
hard aspects to the Neptune Nodes can also be an indicator

Advancing the AstroSignature for Alcohol Abuse http://www.astroresources.com/alcohol.html

Astrology and alcoholism : genetic key to the horoscope
Author: Ann E Parker
Publisher: York Beach, Me. : S. Weiser, 1982.

From personal experience Mars hard aspect to Neptune is one factor. But it's not gonna be just one chart factor, it would be multiple, esp involving house rulers, maybe of the 6th, Neptune in the 6th may be one. But read the study too, and maybe find the book used from people that know more about this than those on here.

I have Mercury (my chart ruler) Square Neptune.

Alcohol has a certain affect on my mind.

My Mercury is in Aries and my mind is always busy. Alcohol calms it. I wouldn't say I am an alcoholic but it's borderline.

But yeah strong Neptune to personal planets would be a indication.

EX: My brother abuses alcohol and his Sun square's Neptune and it also Conjuncts his Asc. in the 12th.

I agree with Glaucus on the hard aspects to neptune but I've got neptune aspecting in the following
Sun square (wide 9.2 degrees)
moon sesquiquadrate 1.3
merc trine 5.9 (also contraparallel 1.1)
venus sextile 5.3
mars quincunx 2.3
jupiter sextile 0.2 (also contraparallel 0.3)
saturn inconjunct 3.0
chiron sesquiquadrate 0.4
uranus semi square 0.4
pluto sextile 1.8
mc square 2.8
and
semi sextile north node 1.8
and I am not an alcoholic but my dad is.

I've seen tons of charts for addicts with a strong neptune but they've usually been very creative too and I think it's the flip side.

For me what helps is a fixed cross with merc, the asc, mars and jupiter, as long as my mind is stable then everything is okay but saying that when I was younger (late teens /early twenties) I did drink a lot. I don't think I could ever be casual around booze and would never just have a bottle in for the sake of it. I have pretty rigid boundaries with it but that kind of points to an underlying issue.

My ex had sun, north node and venus all conjunct neptune and he's been a drinker on and off for years, he was ok whilst he was with me but mainly cos he switched to a more herbal method which was just as bad and was ultimately the reason for the break up.

I'm good at maintaining my boundaries but I can't be around others with issues..I can't relax. It's completely killed any enjoyment for me personally because I know of the dangers lurking behind it. I know it's not an option for me to "let my hair down" in that way.

Stephen Arroyo actually wrote that hard Neptune aspects were the best aspects for serious spiritual seekers.

Sun square Neptune over 9 degrees is very wide for a square

a square within 8 degree orb is even an 11th harmonic aspect called the triundecile

a square would with 9.2 degree orb would be a different type of harmonic.

For me it never fails, its always the ones that have cancer placements that deal with alcoholism. Mostly cancer sun or moons. Or it could be neptune in my 7th house....

I agrees with people having certain Cancer placements having problems with alcoholism, I have had problems in the past with drinking and not being able to control it..I have Sun in Libra with Moon, Jupiter and Ascendant in Cancer. And not many Neptune aspects in my chart either(but I do have Neptune in 6th house). But then again I have a really aggressive natal chart, so that might be it too lol.

My Mom is a recovering alcoholic
My maternal Aunt Dominga is a recovering alcoholic
my uncle Eddie is a recovering alcoholic
my maternal grandfather is an alcoholic.

I am going go over their charts soon, and maybe you can get an idea about family alcoholic history.

I will also include my stuff to show potential alcoholic indicators even though I never had a drinking problem and haven't touch alcohol since January 1999.

"i am not an alcoholic but" do enjoy my fair share of india pale ale (beer). i am told that my paternal grandfather died from alcoholism.

i like weed but have slowed that roll considerably, but will invariably say yes when it's offered. thing is, i prefer it alone, so i can take it to my work; namely writing, specifically screenwriting.)

sun conjunct neptune in 5th/10-degrees scorpio. (mars at 22 scorpio/5th sextiled by saturn @ 24 cap/7th.)

finally checked my late brother's chart the other day. he died at age 48, basically from alcoholism. (he reverted to "just beer" after years and years years and years of hard drugs, including just about everything. beat his body up and added too many jail days to a short life.)

and "just beer" was the nasty stuff, high-octane malt liquor, from waking to sleeping.

he was mars conjunct neptune in scorpio.

neptune can be harsh mistress. but man can she slow-dance. and oh, those sweet secrets she whispers.

i have a vivid memory of my brother, standing on the submerged rocks under the water of lake travis, outside austin, texas.

he took a step back, slipped off the rock and went under. EXCEPT FOR THE BEER, which he managed to hold above the surface, like the olympic torch, while he treaded water before finally coming up.

perfect. poetry. i miss him.
