a lot of people still use it, and it's definitely on paper and online forms
even the term, Latino is a tricky word to use as Latino comes from the word, Latin which was the language that the Romans spoke. The Romans occupied other countries and influenced their languages. Therefore, Romance Languages came about.
any ways.....maybe they should lobby to get rid of Hispanic on forms and use Latino instead.
multiracial people lobbied for the right to mark down more than race on a form
that led to people being able to mark down more than one race for the 2000 and 2010 Census.
in 2000, only 2.4 percent of American census takers identified as more than one race. I was one of those people. I marked black, white, hispanic, and native american boxes.
It just seems like most don't want to view themselves as being mixed.
Technically, most "Blacks" have White in them because of the slave owners mixed with slaves. I read that 1/4 of "Blacks" have a European Y DNA haplogroup.
So right there would mean that there are lot more 2.4 percent that are multiracial.
