I honestly don't get the 8th house connection to money. I relate to the intimacy part and the need for intense relationships that are self-transformative, but not the money part.

Also Leo Sun in the 8th is a terrible placement for Leo. Soon my progressed Sun will move to the 9th H, can't wait!

My progressed Sun's in Aries in the 9th when you put it in the natal, but still in the 8th when you keep it in place with the p.Asc chart, which one do we use?

Scorpio likes survival, Money is an accepted form of recognizable success and the ability to live longer from purchasing the means to provide that end.

Many benefits come with success and this aids some peoples view on surviving and living life.

*Basic I know, but this sort of thinking usually is. Strip it all out and see what is left. -Merc Scorpio.

8th House also relates to values. It's opposite, the 2nd house, is ruled by Taurus, which is in turn ruled by Venus, the money planet. In the 2nd house, the money follows the activity of the 1st house, the self. In the 8th house, the money follows the activity of the 7th, the partnerships. Hence, the 2nd house is your personal money house, and the 8th is money from involvement with others.

The 8th house seems to be about more than the 2nd house because of the addition of other people in the mix. They're not going to say the 2nd is the house of masturbation. It would make sense, but in practicality it might be low on the priority list of what people want to explore in a chart. The introduction of others into the mix is how the 8th becomes partially about sex.

8th house is your resources as it relates to others, anytime you have other people closely involved with your money, it's the 8th, if it's just you slaving away for it, or if we're talking in terms of self worth, it's the 2nd. 8th would be income from spousal support, child support, social services, investments, tax refunds, or again it could be you working for others making their money grow, so it would be a good placement for an investment banker. It's the wizardry of making money multiply, there needs to be good business sense and amazing instincts, and that's the 8th. And, of course, the ability to keep your damn mouth shut about what you have in your bank or in someone else's. There's a lot of secrecy involved in h8 matters as it relates to money. It also covers money from wills and trusts.

This has been most effective. Hmmm, let's see, the ones that I can say reflect what I feel the 8th house issues are is the following

* People trusting me with their money, or secrets. There have been many instances where I stumble upon something someone has been hiding and there-upon being sworn to secrecy about it.

I've been close to all my superiors and have privy information, that if it could land in the wrong hands, could be very destructive.

*People taking care of me finacialy and visa versa. I have never really sepnt my own money, I've always had people chip in and offer to pay for this and that. Even now, my parents are taking care of me finacially(something that I can't help currently).

The pther thing is that people assume that I am wealthy. And so, I do tend to also attract chancers who want this and that from me and assume I can afford it.

*Psychology has always been a fascinating subject for me. Always.

*I am not one for large groups though. I can pull off the whole "lofe of the party " thing(Sun conjuct Jupiter) but I prefer a handful of people to crowds.

*I get bored with conservatives. If your opinions seem "borrowed", "square" or too "neat", I simply don't find you interesting. I like people who challenge the norms, have profound ideas they can back up with personal ancedotes.

*I see personal relationships, especially friendships and love-relationships, as profound opportunities to be who you want to be with the support of someone genuine. I don't keep secrets from those I am intimately invoved with as I think "If I hide myself, you'll only get part of the story". So people get shocked as to how candid I can get about my flaws and what issues I can find challenging to deal with.

Other people think I am too self-focused but I don't see another way of being.

* I also think there is an affinity between eighth house and CIA, Secret Service, Spy activities.

James Bond, the fictional character, if actually based on a person, is sure to have one of the big three in Scopio/Eighth house influence.

I can see the secrecy regarding money and wills.
I received an inheritance some years ago that was totally unexpected as it was thought that this person had no money at all.

Of course afflictions to the Sun may throw a spanner into the works regarding h8 matters, which can get really ugly.

I'll share information with close friends but acquaintances?- I hate when people I don't know ask me personal things. Then there's the more obvious stuff, like my interest in 'darker' things...the spiritual, the paranormal...

I feel like I'm constantly growing...I always want to be evolving. It really is like a door closes on my past and that part of my life is over with- on to the next!

Also, we have to remember that the 8th House IS the house of other people's money. I recently noticed that in my life, I've never really been financially responsible for myself. People have always taken care of me- not that I'm not independent or don't work- but I've been able to do cool things on other people's dime. My older sister is wealthy, she always pays- my ex-boyfriend insisted on paying for everything- and even my parents still contribute a lot. I wonder if it's because of this placement??

Ooooooh! Money! Can't wait to get boat load of that! and yes I feel and am not quite the same person I was the year before.......and so forth, always evolving into newer dimensions of being. Evolving and changing is a very pertinent theme of my life.

I love James Bond, and other spy movies. Good call.

That's kind of awesome. I'm enamored with that idea. I always thought that if I had kids and money, I'd like to pretend for the kids sake that we had no money until they were adults. The expectation that there will always be money isn't healthy for kids.

I notice, gather, stumble upon a lot of hidden knowledge (or rather things that people don't readily take notice of) but at the same time , i feel that I am unable to communicate effectively what I've discovered(even if it's to people's benefit) and so the knowledge remains swirling within.
I didn't read the thread overall because I'm uninterested, but I met a Sun-8 recently and THIS (+ some things of their last post). This person has some dangerous info of mine/about me, and I'm extremely, extremely bitter about it because my impression of Sun-8 is they get their rocks off(=that is what makes their Ego 'filled'/feel good) on hoarding, having, etc, 'secret' info.... and it just makes me feel bad to know I've been dehumanized&'used' this way since I was 100% genuine and harmless blah blah.

(I did not seek them in confidence, but their reaction and various actions since have made the info into a huge, huge deal if it ever comes out.)
