I like to read what is said theoretically about this position, but more importantly, I like to hear what those with Eighth house suns have to say about their experience of this position.

It is not described entirely to my satisfaction. As often, it it seen as a dark, complex, mysterious position to have.

Quite frankly, that to me , is simply not good enough as I have many positions in eighth house that I would better understand if they were explained to me from a more basic, practical, uncomplicated light.

Personally, I've realized that the Sun in eighth shows up for me in the area of acqusition of knowledge. This I can confirm and am not sure whether the link to my Sun in Sagittarius plays a part but anywho.

I notice, gather, stumble upon a lot of hidden knowledge (or rather things that people don't readily take notice of) but at the same time , i feel that I am unable to communicate effectively what I've discovered(even if it's to people's benefit) and so the knowledge remains swirling within.

I don't respond to the general consensus and often reach diffErent conclusions about things that everyone agrees on.(even when the "bad guy" is cleArly marked and everyone agrees that they should be crucified).

I don't know if I am making any sense because it is quite tricky to explain...

Oh yeah, and I've also realized that I am at my most energized at night. I reach solutions to problems at night, work far better to complete things/outstanding assignments at night.

I also like to be alone or seek solace.

How does the Sun in eighth show itself up in your life?

Do you feel the affirmations of things read about it at all?

I can relate to the aquisition of knowledge part, not very "conventional" knowledge though. Gemini sun in the eighth house.

I have Gemini Sun in the 8th ,too. It is hard to discern what is the Sun and what are my other 8th house planets.
I have Gem Merc and Cancer moon in the 8th,too.
I will think about your question and come back.
The Sun is the Ego so I will try to determine how my Ego is effected by an 8th house placement.

We're dark, complex and mysterious

No way.
Awhl rite......

One of the deals about Sun in the 8th is that there is a drive to probe alll your inner workings, what is in your psychology why do you do what you do, what is your personality, how did it come to be developed in that way, etc. and whatever tools the person finds that can help unlock that door and get a better glimpse they will be all over it. Another thing is that they're often singled out in life, something I read that they're either dismissed by the group or hold themselves away from group dealings, so either way they put themselves in the spotlight because of it. So this can turn them into a kind of sacrificial lamb carrying projections from others. This made sense for me because I don't like mobs or big groups, I tend to hold myself apart and when you do that people take affront and will do what they have to do to make sure their ego isn't bruised from you 'rejecting' them. But they don't understand that its not rejection, or maybe it is, but it's not really personal, I just have no desire to know them or be a part of what they're doing. Scapegoat can be a key word here. What else, people like to give you things, people in power especially, they trust you. And the springboard of looking for selfknowledge kinda catapults you into esoteric realms, cos you don't just want to know about you, it's like you gotta have this whole place figured out from top to bottom! Now if that's a means to feel in control, or just for simple knowledge, who knows, I guess that part is personal, but there is a deep desire to have it all ferreted out and to know how all the pieces fit together and who holds what resource and how you can use it to help you or someone else along. There's a deep desire to help others who don't have a lot of resources (any kind, not just money) but then there can also be people, esp significant others, who would like to have you be their sugar momma or sugar daddy, so that's the negative bit. I've personally had this happen, and I really think it's reflected a lot in the Sun 8th, man they look at me and think, OK she's gonna take me in, and pay my bills, etc. and I'm thinking 'come on, I can't be -the only- resourceful one in this pair,' I really do attract a lot of men like this.

Maybe other h8 Suns can chime in on this? The partner looking to us to be their protector and provider? Except on the outside, like when we go out, they want to make it look like they're in charge and try to boss me around (in ways that only I would notice), call the shots, but here I am thinking, excuse me I paid for xyz so this is my ballgame, back off. lmao. Am i horrible

I'm a Sag 8th House Sun too!

I think Lonake described this really really well...especially the part about being kind of a loner. When I was younger I felt like kind of a scapegoat. What's funny is that was at a time when I felt like I was rejected from social groups. But as I got older I ended up being more of a loner by choice and actually find MYSELF rejecting groups more often than them rejecting me. But even so, like Lonake mentioned, I've found this makes some people really uncomfortable or they take it personally and kind of project their crap onto you. By now this doesn't phase me. When I was younger it was really hurtful though. I think that's a big 8th house/Scorpio/Pluto thing- huge sensitivity when younger, particularly being an "outcast" or scapegoat somehow, that leads to a toughness as you get older. By now, I don't even bother explaining myself to people like this. I assume we're just from different planets, so to speak, and move on. I don't need approbation. It does lend to loneliness though. This is probably the one thing in my life that I see as a potentially insurmountable, cycling problem- I feel like I don't fit in but I also feel lonely. The only thing that has ever made me feel "complete" and helped this is to be bonded with another person- I don't really see relationships as romantic, I just see them as intense bonding experiences and that is where I draw the most visceral energy in my life from. It can actually be palpably and physically electric.

On that note, I think another important thing to mention about the 8th house is sensitivity. Kind being kind of attuned to the energies and motives of people around you. This is actually one of my reasons for not liking being in groups- I feel like I get way too tuned into people and it becomes overwhelming- like I'm sensing too many people's energies and get frustrated because ultimately I can't talk to each person on the intimate level that I feel them on (talking more so about friends here, in settings where I don't know people so well or maybe don't like the people around me it's actually even worse- I feel sucked into what's going on with them and end up having to wall off completely or I start to feel really compulsive and reactionary). As I get older I think this lends itself to compassion though- I feel like if I just sit down and talk to someone face to face, no matter what problem we may have had, if I sense something sincere in them, I can be compassionate.

Benefiting from other people's resources as been a big theme in my life. I can't say I've played that role though, like being a sugar mama or something to someone, but I'm still young I suppose there is still time

I guess the Sun is also the father. I've read some places that this can mean your father died early in your life...that's not true for me but my father was pretty distant in my childhood. I've also read it can denote a childhood where you were kind of left to fend for yourself, particularly on an emotional level. THAT is definitely true for me. My parents were immigrants, poor, having relational problems, majorly depressed when I was younger and I was an only child so I spent a lot of time alone in my own world.

I have sun in sag in 8th as well.

Unlike the others, I enjoy groups very much because of the exchange of ideas, which I find exciting. I get bored with the same old same old.
But I have sun conj venus in 8th so maybe that's why, IDK.
However, I have an air moon (libra, 6th) and I am forever trying to figure out my motivations and other peoples, until I drive myself batty.

That is interesting about groups. I have ,always, been afraid of real life groups such as sororities ,for example.

I have this fear of people ganging up on one person and what would *I* do.
If it were me, what would I do?
If it were someone else, what would I do?

That seems like a horror show to me.

My son was on the football team in High School.
The whole team really bullied one kid,on a particular day.
My son was in 10th grade and many of the others were older, stronger boys.
My son did nothing. The bullied kid was his friend, too.
He was traumatized by that.

I think you have to be strong to be in a group and STILL be yourself.
That is the key.You could sell out so as not to be bullied.
The hard part would be having the strength to never sell out and to be strong enough to help someone who was bullied, too.

Aqua Sun in 8th. Agree with the part about groups. I like to stand alone. Even in bars or clubs I like to have time to sit by myself and observe. I hate small-talk...getting to know you type conversations. I'm also very private. I'll share information with close friends but acquaintances?- I hate when people I don't know ask me personal things. Then there's the more obvious stuff, like my interest in 'darker' things...the spiritual, the paranormal...

I feel like I'm constantly growing...I always want to be evolving. It really is like a door closes on my past and that part of my life is over with- on to the next!

Also, we have to remember that the 8th House IS the house of other people's money. I recently noticed that in my life, I've never really been financially responsible for myself. People have always taken care of me- not that I'm not independent or don't work- but I've been able to do cool things on other people's dime. My older sister is wealthy, she always pays- my ex-boyfriend insisted on paying for everything- and even my parents still contribute a lot. I wonder if it's because of this placement??

Venus probably plays a lot into finances. Mine is in Capricorn conj Moon & sq Mars/Saturn/Pluto, so there's some explanation there, the men wanting me to take care of them.

Hi Ami, it's the whole mishmash for me, I don't want to get too into it cos it's personal, but I was probably talking about Venus in some of the h8 Sun mentions. Also, for me, Sun is my h2 ruler, h2 personal finances, etc, so mine may be a special case, my personal finances go to the other and to h8 matters, in part.

I would agree with the Venus thing.
Even though I've always worked, it seems that I am taken care of in the most basic ways, phone bill, car maintenance, food, etc.
Firstly by the elder men in my family, and then by marriage, and now back to the elder men in the family. Strange how that holds true.

I can relate most to Dino!

I have Leo Sun/Mercury in the 8th, I'm very quiet and don't waste my time taking to people just because, in that sense I'm not friendly.

But I just want to have real connections with other people, otherwise I'm left feeling unsatisfied. I only have a handful of friends, but they are all very close to me and I would do anything for them. Also I tend to radically change my approaches to life/ routines pretty often. Right now I'm moving and I'll no longer live by myself.

The Venus thing is interesting...my Venus is also in Capricorn, same as Lonake's. But for you, you're saying that it played out as men wanting you to take care of them? I wonder if the opposite could be true? Ya know, the whole Capricorn status, wealth, social-climber stereotype. Maybe I'm attracted to people that can provide that for me?

Gypsee- where is your Venus?

Also, I have a Cancer Moon like Ami- so perhaps that's the reason for the providers.

My Sun is 28 Gem which is Betelguise.
This is supposed to be the most favored star.
I think this gives me good things. What do you think about fixed stars?

I have Sun in the 8th, too. I agreed with most of Lonake's original post. I haven't had the means to be a sugar daddy, but I'm quite certain I'd attract those types (I tend to like broken people; Venus conjunct Neptune). In fact, I've been broken up with for not taking that roll. On the other hand, other people have volunteered to help me financially. I try to make it so that people don't have to.

I...go both ways with regard to groups. I'm most certainly an individual, and what's more an independent, free-minded individual. I don't feel bound to follow other people's lead. I do enjoy being social, though, and I am a great support person despite my independent tendencies.

I'm certainly independent and alone in my station in life. I have the rare distinction of being a regular guy, with regular looks, with regular socialization that hasn't married, and isn't lonely or desperate or disengaged from life. I do believe I'll be married one day, but the question of it doesn't consume me. How I live doesn't make me insecure. I kind of revel in it.

I am WAY into psychology in a non-academic way. That's always been a passion of mine. I recall as a teenager fantasing about being an old man, and being stunning with my abilities at reading people.

Also, I do see the presence of transformation in my life. I suppose we all do to some extent. I try to self-direct it as much as possible.
