This one aspect drives me mad.

The way I act on the surface is NOT the way I am inside.

Virgo Moon is a loner, worried, practical, and wants security.
Gemini ASC wants fun, light things, change, social stuff.
So contradictory!

This makes me an emotional wreck.

Here's what cafeastrology says about it:

" Moon square the Ascendant
The way you express yourself to others, or your body language and manner, tends to conflict with how you truly feel. You are highly emotional and your feelings demand attention immediately. While your body language is expressive, it's not always a true reflection of how you actually feel. Uncertainty about how others will respond to you if you do express your true feelings is at the root of this. You are also highly sensitive to the moods of people around you and the emotional atmosphere of your immediate surroundings, although you might interpret these things in an exaggerated fashion. As you develop and grow, and with experience, you might learn to be less self-conscious about expressing your true feelings, and less inclined to imagine disapproving reactions to them. "

==> I find this VERY accurate. Sigh.

Here's what coffee says....

If you aspect one angle, you aspect them all. Do you want to aspect all the angles as well as all the planets?

In other words....this aspect is non-existent, you are getting the effect from somewhere else.

Think about this. Think about this deeply and in a critical way.

Coffee, you are talking about the descendant here I guess, because I use Placidus.
For those using equal and whole sign system I guess this would mean that my Moon would also aspect MC and IC.

However, I still think this aspect counts, at least for me. Of course there are other elements supporting the "emotional wreck" that I am, for example Moon square Mars.

Anyway, thank you for your insight.
I like the fact that there are always different perspectives.

And so, Coffee, do you ever consider aspects made to the angles then?

I have this aspect, Virgo Moon/Gemini ASC too.

I guess I don't feel as much emotional tension with this. I am definitely a true Virgo Moon as far as being a loner, needing security versus not, and all that. But I find that my Gemini Rising sort of helps me make acquaintances and be social at times when it's not really "in me" if you know what I mean. There's times when coming across in a Gemini way comes in handy.

I'm definitely sensitive to the moods of others. Sometimes if someone is just mildly upset or peeved, I can't even be in the same room with them because the tension is so strong and personal for me. This happened the other day when I was going to meet my friend for coffee, and she had been having a bad day before then. Her aura of negativity was so overwhelming to me it was physically difficult to sit there with her, I felt like I needed to get up and take a walk every five minutes. And this is odd because usually I am the mentor type among my friends.

I don't really have torment over expressing my true feelings like the interpretation says but I definitely became aware before most people did of how to go about doing this. Timing is something I figured out as a child. Here's a silly example: I remember when I was a kid I had this routine whenever I wanted to buy something at the store like toys or candy. First I would ask to stay in the car and say I didn't want to go in, and my mom would always say no. Then, I pretended like I didn't want anything until I saw what it is I wanted. Then, I would make some offhand comment about it and wait. Later, when my mom was almost done, I would hop out of the cart and ask her if I could go get that thing I wanted and she would almost always say yes. This was all when I was 4 or 5 years old, when most other kids just had a plan of 'ask first then cry until they give it to you.'

I still think things through like this as an adult, lol. Going a very roundabout way of communicating something simple seems safer to me. This could be some hard Virgo energy at work, literally. Also same with Gemini, since Gemini is about communication moreso than other signs. I wonder if anyone with this aspect in another pair of signs has a different experience with it.

wal2, thank you for sharing.

It's a good thing you are at ease with both energies.

I am not sure the hypersensitivity to other people's emotional states comes from the ascendant/moon square, though.

Do you have some heavy Pisces, Neptune, or other watery stuff?

Moon square Ascendant here.
I've got moon in early aries and asc in early cappy. that pretty much says it all. when i'm feeling all impulsive and passionate and excited, i still can come off aloof, "responsible" and practical. aries is everything but practical.

i'm convinced that the moon wins and that the ascendant, esp, should work for the sun and the moon.

so for me it looks like when i have a great idea of the impulse to do something, my cappy says "Wow kiddo! that's great!" and then commences to make the plan. and because my mars is in scorpio conjunct saturn i can get it done!

true for me as well. perhaps this stems from a perceived poor response to childhood needs or emotions...

My moon in pisces is square my ascendant.

People think my reactions are odd.....

I'm afraid to give my feelings out because i am painfuly aware that people will use it against me

I'm billious and i boil over....my skin has boils from repressed frustration...not rage

I'm very cold....it's hard for me to even kiss soemone...I can go out and get girls al day but i'd rather sit at home and paint, but then when i paint i can't paint perfectly and I get billious, and then I spend hours reading alone...and i'm always at odds with my self emotionaly, and can never really say what i'm feeling because i don't know.

Actually that's not how I am at all..

I wish i knew how i was but I Can't

I know I want a pretty woman, a nice house, and a fireplace...and i like to help people.

mercury conjunct uranus square moon from the other side...

like i said, all i know is what i study......i'm like a competent person who has no self view.

I'm a ghost to my own self.

Hey EM, I am the same!

Moon Aries square Cap rising, 1°25 orb.

I guess I can be conflicted a lot. I can hide what I feel, don't always act how I feel.

I also have Moon Square Cap Mars, 1°21 orb.

road, don't have such a negative view of yourself!

It's not that simple to know oneself, and I have a hard time knowing how I feel, too.

But yes I see you have a complicated chart.

But you know what, this gives you enormous potential, when you know how to use the energies.

Good luck friend!

carl, wow we have the same stuff going on.
My Moon also squares my Mars, which is logical because my Mars is opposite my Asc..

sigh.

I act in a manner that conflicts totally with how I feel, it's quite terrible.

But the good side to this aspect is that once we get to use the energy in a good way, we can act accordingly to our emotions/feelings, and express them better than most.

We just have to find a way to balance both signs.

Maybe we should look at the Moon-Asc midpoint??

Mine is 17° Cancer.. hmm..

sun actually trines my ascendant but my sun squares my moon I have a lot of inner conflict I have a leo moon but you wouldn't be able to tell until you **** me off or if you have my sense of humor . I don't stick up for myself but if i'm pushed you will get the leo moon and the scorpio mars . I do feel unable to express myself totally sometimes I just give up we have the same harsh saturn aspect I think I was born a few days before or later than you I believe ? I'm so unorganized it's unbelievable ..plus with the pisces ascendant i'm in a dream world oh look I just talked about myself .. anyway I feel your pain even though it isn't the same aspect it may be the hard saturn aspect we share that makes life against us sometimes . :/

This is a very interesting thread Doux.
I don't have this aspect but I can only imagine HOW hard it would be.

Ami, yeah it is kinda difficult.
But there are people out there with the Sun square Moon or ASC, imagine that.

I just need to find a balance between the way I come across and the way I really feel inside. I hate acting like a hypocrite, but it happens sometimes.

I suppose the charts highlight our various struggles.
There are always saving graces, too.
I was talking to PS about that, yesterday.
She asked me," What do you do when you see an exact Sun /Merc conjunction?
How can you NOT be reactive?"
Maybe, you will always be reactive but can look somewhere in the chart for good things that will lessen it.
Maybe, there are certain"structural flaws"such as one would find in a house which will never go away, too.

Actually I have ASC square Sun and it's totally OK

But then I'm not much of a Sun person and my first house's empty, so this could ease things down a bit.

btw I saw your video and it's cool to know you're different inside
