Hi,

This is going to seem really self-indulgent, in fact it actually is really self-indulgent lol, and I don't really have any excuses to make it anything else.

I have done my chart, but I don't understand it. I've read the online descriptions at cafeastrology, astro.com, astrotheme, astrowin etc and I've also plotted my chart manually with pencil and paper, and read each individual aspect, house, sign description - but I can't get any coherence with my interpretation. I can't tell how accurate my chart is to me, because I can never get the whole picture - by the time I'm half way through, I've forgotten the first bit and mostly I get cross and through all the books up in the air and scream. I want to test astrology and see what it says about me, so I know if it is accurate but I just can't do it. I bought the karma cards, and they have been helpful in helping me to visualize each feature as I'm interpreting, but I'm still not 'getting it'. I've read lots of books, cover to cover, I've read articles online but still I can't master it. It isn't that I am selfish, as you can see I regularly contribute to non-me threads, and it isn't that I'm just lazy and don't want to do any work. I genuinely can't get past this block. It feels like my mind is working too fast, and any method just goes flying out of the window, its driving me nuts.

So, with all that self-pitying now out in the open, can anyone indulge me with some info about me from my chart... please, pretty please with a cherry on top, lol.

Thank you in advance
Rachel x

Okay first you have Mercury conjunct Uranus.
This means that you have a very original way of thinking, you are creative, have many ideas and can be abruptly honest to the point of rudeness. But that's because you says things as they are, and are mostly very quick in your reactions.

That stellium in Scorpio in the 8th would show your interest in the occult and hidden matters.
Certainly you are a very intense person, but quite private.

Your Sun and Moon are in sextile, which denotes a natural balance of the feminine/masculine energies.

But your Moon is quite heavily aspected, it makes an opposition to Mars = probably difficulties in childhood/teenage years due to the mother and her/your quick temper. It can make you defensive of your feelings, aggressive when hurt, but it also gives a protective streak, you are ready to defend those you love.

The Moon also squares Pluto, which again shows the intensity of feelings, and some issues with closeness, difficulties with negative emotions such as jealousy, obsession, possessiveness and a need to control.
Feelings can be expressed in an inadequate manner.

BUT the Moon also gets a sextile from Mercury, so the expression of feeling is easier.

Mercury trines Mars, which shows you are assertive with your ideas. You can stand up for your beliefs.

Venus square Mars, out of sign though, would denote some problems in the relationship area, you are very passionate and can have love/hate relationships.
You can have a hard time satisfying your emotional and physical needs at the same time (especially Venus being in the 7th, relationships; and Mars in the 5th, sex, romance).

Saturn makes a quincunx to the Moon. Feelings again, you can be quite unsure of yourself, feeling awkward in emotional situations.
Plus your Moon is in Capricorn, making you seem cold and detached.

Mercury square Saturn makes you doubt your intellectual abilities, you may think you are dumb when you aren't. It can slow down the learning process, but once you've learned something, you've learned it for good.

Saturn in sextile to Venus, out of sign though, should denote stable feelings and a need for security in relationships. You are certainly faithful and easy to trust.

Neptune conjuncts your MC, you may have had a hard time deciding what to do as a career, Neptune clouding the professional area.

Venus and Pluto are in the 7th, of course you are passionate in your relationships, and all the issues concerning power/control apply here.

Mars in retrograde and in it's fall, Cancer.
You may have a hard time asserting yourself, and anger issues could be a problem.
You can have a passive aggressive approach to problems, and use emotional manipulation to get your way.

Venus in its detriment, Virgo, makes things a bit hard on a personal level because you are quite picky and demanding in relationships.

The Moon in Capricorn is in its detriment.
It is not the best place for the Moon but it gives you some control over the emotions, and a sense of responsibility and loyalty.

Well.. Hope this wasn't TOO generic!

Use WHOLE SIGN house system, unless you'd like to explain to me what Pisces intercepted in the 1st house means?

No interpretation, just ideas on how to do it.

You have the ASC and ASC ruler thread there, so feel free to use that, while looking at descriptions.

Have a scan a what the houses mean, from some website. Then, start with the 1st house and move along each of the houses until you reach the end. 1st one is about appearance and personality, which you can do easily.

Always read from the outside in, starting with the sign on the outside of the house giving the way in which that house acts. Using WHOLE SIGN house system, you should have Pisces on the 2nd cusp. This means that your self worth and way of handling finance (house 2) is coloured by Pisces. You could buy (2nd house) art/drugs (Pisces), be forgetful (Pisces) with money (house 2) or have a smelly (Pisces) arse (2nd house-opposite of 8th which is front bits)

Then move onto the next house.

See? Already I'm completely confused. I don't know why I find this so hard. I couldn't even get through Coffee's entire post without losing focus - what the hell is wrong with me!

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Doux Reve, Thank you for that interpretation, its really interesting. I've written a reply but saved it as a draft for a while to make sure I'm right before I post.

Coffee, thanks for trying to help, I do appreciate it.

Don't worry Rachel, it's your Mercury conjunct Uranus square Saturn at work.

Personally I don't use whole sign system, I find it too hum.. incomplete? yeah, incomplete.

LMDO Coffee at your examples!

I know what you mean about the whole sign house system - it seems more logical. Unfortunately, the interpretations I've read seem to be more accurate using Placidus.

Using Placidus as I have in the chart I posted, which sign would I consider rules each house? The one that is already there when the house starts, or the one who's beginning falls within the sign? Like is House 2 Aries or Taurus?

Thanks
Rachel

Rachel, your 2nd house using Placidus is Aries.

I find the charts on astro.com better, they are easier to read in my opinion.

Do you want me to post yours with Placidus but from astro.com?

You're welcome.

So, do you understand how the houses work?

You do see that you have a stellium in the 8th, and Moon in the 11th, for example, right?

Yes, thank you. I (surprisingly, given that the rest is so baffling to me!) understand which house a planet is in, and I can read the specific description for that placement. I don't, if I'm honest, 'get' which sign rules the houses - because for example House 7 is ruled by Leo Virgo and Libra - how the heck can that work!? That (apparently) means that House 7 is also ruled by their rulers, i.e. Sun, Mercury and Venus. So House 7 has 6 influences plus any planets in it. That just seems crazy - its half the solar system!

(Did that make any sense?)

Actually you only look at the sign "on the cusp", which in your case is Leo. So the ruler of your DSC (7th house) is the Sun, which in turn is in Scorpio in the 8th.
You can say that the ruler of your DSC is in your 8th house, which means that close relationships are very Scorpio-like, and your partners are likely to be quite Plutonian and Solarian, a bit Leo-like.

I think a lot of people make the mistake of not taking the time to learn basic astrology before jumping in and trying to interpret their chart. Have you learned about all the signs? Modalities? Triplicities? Houses? Those are good jumping off points before you get into the nitty gritty imo.

A lot of people here have been doing astrology for years but their knowledge is fractured because they didn't learn the basics.

I totally get what you are saying amowls. The stupid and sad fact is that yes, I've done my ground work. I've been doing it for years (20+) since I first read Sun Signs when I was a teenager. I got an astrology kit, and did charts for all my family and friends - all by hand using the ephemeris for each year. I have a good grip on each sign, and to a certain extent, each house. I understand the premise of the aspects - and I even get how it is all supposed to work, but somehow my brain just doesn't come up with the correct answer.

Example -

Saturn (limits, melancholy, seriousness, weakness, struggle)

in

Leo (fun, proud, magnetic, charming)

in 6th house (work, service, etc)

- I just don't get how to 'mix' those descriptions to come up with an interpretation. I have read so many websites, read plenty of books but it still doesn't happen. As soon as someone does it, I can see it completely - but I can't get to that conclusion myself.

It is really frustrating. Not sure why or what my problem is, lol.

Scorpio through and through. I don't identify with Leo at all (my son is Leo, he drives me insane lol). Linda's books, Sun Signs and Love Signs are me to a tee - the Scorpio woman, Scorpio boss and employee.

There are obviously traits I don't have, but most I do.

I ask because recently I've been trying to incorporate Saturn and Uranus as the co-rulers of Aquarius, so I asked because you have an Aqua ASC. But it's no wonder you feel like a definite Scorpio: Uranus, Sun and Mercury in Scorpio!

I'm an Aqua Sun, and both Uranus and Saturn are conjunct in Sag so I've never had to think about it lol.
