whats the signficance of the progressed chart, how does it compare with the true natal chart?------------------ "I seek words to re-create the sensations which exalt and unhinge me." "I am today fully capable of passion in the most complete and absolute sense of the word." "I see everything with a painful lucidity" Anais Nin (early diary vol. IV) IP: Logged |

I not sure of the reasoning of the movement of the planets in this, but find it inaccurate as the natal chart should show all you need to know.IP: Logged |

I kind of agree with Coffee, but I'm open to anyone who can show me otherwise.Generally a progressed chart signifies how you as a person have evolved in your life. The problem I personally have with that is that a progressed chart has a steady rate of progress, and the only object moving rapidly enough to actually make a change regarding signs (going into a different sign etc, making other aspects), is the moon. I find it very hard to believe that people only evolve emotionally every 2.5 years... Or, if someone has Sun in 1° Scorpio for example, that it would theoretically take 29 years for that person to evolve their identity into something else. Also, people do evolve in a different rate each, and part of that evolving is environmental and thus can't be seen in a chart. Oh well, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit too much again...
Either way, that's what a progressed chart shows, how someone evolves. In theory.

I do a little bit of work with progressed charts and they can show the current themes quite well. The truth is people will evolve slowly in some areas and emotionally we don't grow as quick or as much as we like to think. The progressed ascendant will often show when a person has a significant change in regards to their appearance. The progressed sun changing signs can also be quite symbolic.. They are worth a look...especially if you're looking at the current relationships in your life, often the progressed chart will contain aspects to the natal of new people. Their progressed charts will show aspects to your natal. IP: Logged |

I totally give relevance to progressed charts because I see it's effect time and time again. I think that yes it highlights themes and can also be a great timing indicator.Although I agree Coffee the natal chart is enough, the progressed charts works for me everytime.. I use progressed charts in conjunction with transits...so the theme really only take noticeable effect when triggered by transits or when planets progress to natal points or aspects. IP: Logged |

Nice... I would love it if someone could do my progressed chart sometime. I really want to see it work in practice! (Not here, of course ) ------------------ Scorp sun , Gem moon, Cap mars and Sag nearly everything else! Well, except Pluto and Saturn :p IP: Logged |

I'll have a look for you Aya...perhaps even if you give me the dates... of the time you started a relationship, met up, and especially when you had your little boy...I think it works very like a solar return chart.IP: Logged |

Here or in a new thread? I suppose we could use it to illustrate a progressive chart, in which case:my birth data: 10 nov 1984 at 9:24 am in schoten, belgium I had too many short relationships, so not sure if that's a good marker then... Son is born on 13 nov 2009 at 22:41 in antwerp, belgium If we should do this in a different thread, then a well-meant sorry to silvestri

Your progressed chart on the date your son was born shows An exact Sun/Uranus conjunction...Change, change change...breaking free from your old ego... which is interesting considering you were born with an exact sun/saturn conjunction and as Saturn/Uranus are co-rulers of Aquarius...indicates a very significant event year... The sun rules the 9th house and Uranus rules 3rd house which suggests the possibility then of an event which brings together relatives, brothers, sisters etc from other countries? Or joyous communication or a time to grow. Probably there was alot of happy energetic contact with neighbours also. Your Moon had also progressed into your 5th house (can indicate the of a birth of a child) ...also opposed by transiting Venus The progressed ascendant close to conjuncting your natal Venus (2 degrees)... highlights love in your life, and as Venus rules your 6th house, immediate and obvious change to your daily routine and health. Also progressed Venus conjunct natal Mars (5th house ruler) exactly. A very loved and wanted child. IP: Logged |

Can anyone tell me the reason behind the way a progressed, and even solar arc chart is devised. Why do they use one day for each planet in transit, and what is the reason of movement for progressed charts?IP: Logged |

Coffee....one day in the ephemeris for each year of birth and ascendant one degree per year. I don't think there is any type of calculation involved except the natural progression of the ephemeris. Here is a link... http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/010692.html
