By the way can anyone pl tell me on how to calculate aspects of this eclipse with other planets? Is there a way available on astro. I couldn't find it. Or do we have to go through the whole process manually?

Not sure if you mean aspects to your planets, but just cast a chart for local time of the eclipse and then do a synastry with your chart.

The eclipse chart is crazy btw, crazy

abcd efg, for God's sake, don't do it manually! Go to astro.com, make an account, then go to free horoscopes/horoscope drawings and calculations.

Add a new person, then select from the drop down list "natal chart with transits". Make sure that it's for today (it's the box with the date). A chart will appear and then press "View the additional tables (PDF)" right above the chart. All the aspects will show up.

i can understand why people believed them to be frightening events. The moon is literally swallowed up red and then comes out white!!!

cooljen,
Sorry I missed this before, but I think MertSerimer was just being funny.

Eclipses in general bring about much change. Having eclipses conjunct your nodal axis probably means that the changes they will bring into your life are in line with your life purpose. Events may seem all the more poignant for you, and have far-reaching effects. Having the eclipse on your nodes does not inherently mean something terrible is about to happen. Your Vertex close to the Eclipse also means the same thing as the Nodes. As for Neptune conjunct (wide orb though it is) the Eclipse, I found this on the top of this page:

"Eclipses aspecting Neptune: These eclipses compel you to examine your blind spots, question your faith, and dispute what you previously thought was indisputable. If you've been fooling yourself - like a wife who ignores the signs that her husband has strayed, or the man who is disillusioned by his womanizing guru - these eclipses can deliver a wakeup call."

Hope this helps,
Sunshine

Just saw this...thanks for your response Sunshine.

I felt very 'drained' today, but thats also probably because of all the stuff thats going on lately.

I did it. Thank you Maira. Trying to understand it now. It takes me helluva of a time. Yes, it did look beautiful on TV. From our place it was visible but the rain clouds blocked it. So we had a full moon eclipse in the rains.

Wow, lots of activity here.. had a busy couple days, but I'll be back to respond later.

Hope everyone made it through this one ok. I read that this eclipse was smack on the nodal axis, making it a more emotional one for everyone.

Quoted from http://astrology-classes.com/eclipse/july-1-2011-solar-eclipse-in-cancer.html

July 1, 2011 Solar Eclipse in Cancer

“A large diamond in the first stages of the cutting process.”
- Eclipse Sabian Symbol for 10 degrees Cancer

"The early summer season promises to be quite eventful. It starts with the forward motion of Saturn on July 13, 2011 after its 4-1/1 month retrograde journey from 17 degrees Libra back to 10 degrees Libra. Saturn at 10 degrees Libra will make a square aspect (challenge) to the Sun/Moon eclipse conjunction at 9 degrees Cancer. In addition, the eclipse Sun and Moon are in square aspect to Uranus and in an opposition aspect to Pluto. These orbs (the difference in degree between two planets placement) are quite tight, which gives the eclipse added power.

Picture the Sun and Moon having a party. They have invited some very heavy hitting guests–Pluto, Saturn and Uranus. Actually looking closer, its probably not a party, but a business meeting held in the home (eclipse in Cancer)—a business meeting where each of the parties are challenging each other and each wants to be heard. The Sun and Moon seated at one end of the table are listening to everyone forcefully present their needs and trying to make sense of it all. Let’s take a look to determine what is really going on at this “business meeting.”
The Sun is the active, life giving light that represents a purposeful, directed and proud being. Let’s picture him setting at the head of the table. Next to him is the Moon, the light that contains our deepest personal needs, our intuitive, sentimental, introspective side. She doesn’t seem to be as strong as her partner, the sun, but her subconscious is very powerful. She gets things done through the emotions and uses her intuition to make sense of things.

At the far end of the table dark Pluto sits retrograde in Capricorn (opposition to the eclipse). He is all about control and transformation. Capricorn is about business, career and public appearances. Pluto reveals secrets and wants transformation at any cost. He is intense and has extreme will power.

Uranus at 4 degrees Aries is to the left of the eclipse. Uranus is a wild card ready to act, possibly in a volatile way. He says, “freedom is everything.” “Let’s just do something!” His hair is standing up and his eyes are a little wide. He is volatile, but inventive, and sudden change is his signature.

Dour Saturn at 10 degrees Libra is sitting 90 degrees (square) to the left of the eclipse. Saturn is careful and limiting. Work is his mantra. “Let’s slow down, work harder, keep our nose to the grindstone. We don’t want to jump to any conclusions.” He is the authority. Can you see how he would challenge the control that Pluto is wielding? Can you see how he is in opposition to everything that Uranus stands for? Oh my!

What are the Sun and Moon to do? They are sitting right in the middle of a grand square with the other very powerful planets. The Sun exerts considerable power but certainly has some powerful voices to contend with. The Moon may get moody or emotional and will make a heartfelt appeal to the other powerful guests. She will use her intuition to solve the puzzle and may change things several times.

The above was a quite whimsical way of explaining the eclipse dynamics, but there is a lot of truth to this silly little story. This eclipse is all about challenges toward bringing the warring parts of ourselves into alignment through a sometimes arduous process of self transformation.
This eclipse will set off some powerful energy that will raise conflicting needs. Emotions will run high, but they may not always be visible. Challenges abound. But as the Sabian symbol implies, we and our life’s work are like a diamond in the rough.

Through the challenging energy of the eclipse we are being called to use the planetary energy to make our life the best possible. The planets are giving clues about navigating the energy of the eclipse:
Sun – stay purposeful, be yourself and appreciate yourself.

Moon – use your intuition and heart to guide you toward what you want.

Saturn – keep working hard, even when things are discouraging.

Pluto – use your will power to let go or transform what is no longer serving you.

Uranus – use your inventive mind and never be afraid of change or of being different."

"If this eclipse stimulates your 5th-11th house axis, social activity is the focus. The need to be appreciated by others, and the need for togetherness with others, comes into play. A love affair may begin or end under this influence. New contacts with others may also occur. If 11 Gemini is in the fifth, you will learn to let go of a fear of taking risks, and to develop the courage to strike out on your own individual and creative path without fear. You are called upon to deal with others in a more personal, involved, and loving manner, rather than falling back on reason and intellect, which detaches you from your feelings. This series of eclipses is about learning to take personal risks, which requires a certain amount of self-confidence. If 11 Gemini is in the eleventh, you will be learning about letting go of your attachment to the drama of romance and personal relationships, as well as your willfulness. You are called upon to learn about the value of the team. You may need to give freedom to your romantic partner instead of expecting him or her to follow a script of your own making. You learn the value of brotherly love and the benefits of a sense of belonging to a community. Events are such that you move towards a more objective approach to your life and you cultivate true friendships."

Hi Sunshine!! I know right?! It's so strange. I had put in two offers previously, one in april, one in May and both times the offer fell through. This offer was accepted readily and also a better house than the previous two I had put offers on. Sometimes it's meant to be right? It's also less than 1km from my dad's home which I wasn't aiming for intially but I guess is also a good thing. 4th house - house of parents as well?

hmm 11 Gemini is in my 4th, but 24 Gemini is in my 5th/11th houses.. I thought the 15 June eclipse was on the degrees of 24. maybe I read wrong?

No signficant things happened on the solar eclipse, but then again my only planets near 24 degrees in any sign are Sun (at 22) and Mars (at 20) and Rising sign (22) in signs that form weak aspects to the eclipse, except the rising sign which forms a trine/sextile aspect with a variance of 2 degrees. I haven't lost or gained friends, (except a pen pal from the US and myself have become closer over the last week), children or a new love interest.

Just now, as I was writing this, I just received a phone call informing me of formal finance approval on the house I put in an offer on 4th June. I wonder if the 15th June eclipse was in 11 gemini after all?? Funnily enough the formal approval was due today so it was the last day we could get it done, and today is just outside of the eclipse 'zone'. Quote from the mortgage broker "Congrats, finance was formally approved! We weren't confident we'd get it through in time but something happened and all of a sudden it just went through". Around eclipse time (up until end of last week) there were last minute setbacks and it didnt look like it was going to go through in time. The Universe works in mysterious ways

Settlement is due on 30th June, just before this big eclipse. I am a bit nervous about it actually lol 9 Cancer... sits in my 5th house and makes wide orb aspects (3 deg) to Venus (sextile), Saturn (trine), Uranus (quincunx) and Jupiter (opposition) which all sit at 12 deg of their respective signs.

Exciting times!!! lol

abcd,

With everything I've dug up so far, I think that Eclipse conj your Sun will be bringing personal changes for you, while Mercury's conjunction to the Eclipse will "deliver a contant stream of challenging communication that needs to be communicated in some way". What house axes were involved for you, abc? That might shed more light on the situation. Have you been experiencing ecliptic changes in your life?

If nothing yet, they may manifest 90 days from the eclipse date, so be on the lookout.

Sunshine, actually, my mer is conj sun in SAGI and both of them are in OPPOSITION to the merc conj sun of the ECLIPSE in Gemini. Am i clear now. Probably in the first post i didn't sound that clear. Or is it the effect of this opposition? Confusion in communication?

abcd,

Here's what the article joyrjw quoted on page 2 of this thread, says about eclipses aspecting your Sun & Mercury:

• Eclipse aspecting the natal Sun: If life is a movie, the Sun is the protagonist - however flawed - for whom we cheer. Each of us is born to be the hero of our own life story; but often, timidity or false modesty persuades us to hand over that role to others. When eclipses aspect your natal Sun, you are thrust into the starring role - and if you're not used to it, that can be uncomfortable.

• Eclipses aspecting Mercury: How do you define yourself? Usually, it begins with a name. Then, with your rank in the family pecking order, on the playground, in the workplace. Finally, numbers (grades in school, numbers on a paycheck) define you. When eclipses aspect natal Mercury, the god of definition, prepare for a change in your name, rank, or serial number - and for a change in how you define yourself.

Does this sound like what you're experiencing?
