While I don't disagree with Mercury = intelligence normally, I disagree with looking at the planets FIRST, instead of the house.

I have third house as communication, which means that whatever sign is on the 3rd house, it's ruler then represents the house, not it's natural meaning. If I have Leo on the 3rd, the SUN then becomes the third house representative, not Mercury, in the chart. So, in this example, I would look at the Sun in the natal chart as to any problems with communication. As opposed to Mercury, as Mercury is the natural ruler of communication.

I don't discount that Mercury = communication, I just don't count it when first looking at the problem.

Hopefully that is clearer.

in my case it is difficult (at least with communication). my 3rd house ruler (moon) is in gemini and conjunct mercury. so, any aspect that mercury has, same with moon. i couldnt tell.

but lets think of 5th house in virgo, mercury ruler in gemini. so for 5th house issues i should look at mercury placement and aspects, right?
