Last dude I dated had his Capricorn Sun and Mercury conjunct Saturn.

Yes Saturn dampens that energy.We crave it and look for it outside of ourselves.
You know--even books,movies ,so many things have a particular energy in them.

For example,one of my fave authors Evan Hunter is ALL about evil/Nessus in human nature.

Sag is like Gem in many,many ways.
It FEELS like Gem energy.

I can already tell that I should avoid mars in Gemini - at least when those are opposite my Venus and Neptune (although I can't imagine anything good coming from a conjunct to my moon and chiron)

While I think it is true that we may often struggle with the traits of our Saturn sign, and do admire those who seem to effortlessly embody those traits, it may not necessarily be a romantic admiration unless Saturn is connected with a relationship house… like the 5th , 7th , or 8th.

In my case Saturn is conjunct the MC by 3 degrees, and my MC is also in Virgo. I really do admire the Virgoan traits of being fast and yet also efficient at the same time, and also their ability to keep their minds focused on mundane things, in the professional sphere. Even though I am a Capricorn I have mercury in the 12th and do tend to daydream too much, and find mundane household details utterly boring. My Cap sense of responsibility forces me to deal with them, but I certainly don’t relish it. That being said, Saturn is also my sun sign ruler, and having it in Virgo has given me a very analytical mind, a rigid sense of duty, a dislike of chaos, and a love of organization… but I still hate mundane details. Forget about scrubbing the kitchen floors, and pruning the hedges, I’d rather spend my time solving the mysteries of life. My analytical tendencies tend to be applied more to intellectual things like studying astrology. Also, my 3rd house cusp is in Aquarius which is co-ruled by my Virgo Saturn and I have always had a fascination with alternative health, and nutrition.

As for what Mars or even Venus signs excite me…. I’m a Sag rising, and my Dsc ruler Mercury is also in Sag, and I really do just love the energy flow of this sign. Usually such positive and humorous people to be around. I have Aries on the 5th house cusp ruled by Mars in Leo, and I just find the boldness of both of these signs extremely exciting. To me, Aries just has that ‘it’ factor (pure hotness), and Leo has this fascinating heartfelt quality that I love. I haven’t had experience with Gemini my Dsc sign, in Venus or Mars via synastry, but I have noticed that when Venus transits my Dsc, it does make me feel really warm and affectionate and romantic. I also seem to like Aquarius, which is the sign on my 3rd house cusp, and seeing as I have a Gemini Dsc, it makes sense that I’d be drawn to those who are ’interesting’ to me. These sign preferences actually seem to apply to any part of a the other person’s chart, and not just Mars and Venus, but also the sun, the Moon, and the Asc. I also seem to like Cancer and Scorpio, usually as a Venus or Moon sign. My 8th house falls in Cancer, ruled by my Cancer Moon which itself falls in the 8th (ruler of the 8th in the 8th), so perhaps this explains my occasional fascination with people who have these signs prominent.

So, in conclusion, I don’t really see my Saturn sign on someone else’s Mars as being ‘sexy’ at all. I think this type of attraction comes more from having someone’s Mars of Venus influencing the 5th , 7th or 8th houses in your chart, or even influencing the ruler of those house cusps…

There was a Virgo sun sign actor on whom I had a crush, but he also had Mars in Sag conjunct my Mercury… and Mercury is my 7th house ruler… Plus he had Moon in Cancer, either in my 7th or 8th house, and his Venus in Libra also sextiled my Mercury.

I tend to be attracted to different Mars types/Saturn types though many of the people I've had relationships with I never knew what there mars was in.

I married a guy with Mars in Sagittarius/Venus Rx Aries and Saturn in Aries.
