It's usually those that are still in that phase of their lives when they are adults, that are how AstroMan described it.

According to Freud that would have suggested something went wrong there and it could evolve into a less non-erotic Oedipus-complex. Children usually grow out of that phase around 5-7 years old (if I'm not mistaken ) and children who don't (for various reasons, like absence of either parent or unconventional reactions of the parent(s), I suspect) often find themselves clinging to either the parent or the ideal of that parent, and cling to others who exhibit the same characteristics as the parent, or their ideal of the parent.

That being said, we do often tend to go for partners who are either like the opposite gender parent in either looks or personality, or like the self. Both have some sense of wrong about them, but it's how our mind works

Of course astrology can explain that.
Patterns of the type of females and men in your lives, not necessarily out minds or deep earning for your parents :\

Yeah, I have said it many times, not directly but that I hate when people come over or surprise me coming over and how I need my space. She'll just agree. But she has boundary issues. She doesn't think much of others and will be offended and get mad if I do.....she has issues. I think its her Capricorn, she cannot admit she did anything wrong or anything close to wrong or in the family of the word meaning wrong and then play the victim ugh

Being offended is not going to kill her. For one, showing up unannounced is just plain rude. No one likes having uninvited guests. This will cost her a lot of friendships if she doesn't get a clue. As painful as this is, you have to be direct with her. Yes, she will be angry, but if you don't say something now, you will become very angry with her and soon you won't be able to hold back your feelings any longer. That's when you'll blurt out a bunch of very hurtful things at her that you don't mean and that you won't be able to take back.

I wish you the best of luck. I've dealt with clingy people before and many of them are genuinely clueless as to how much they annoy others.

I think every sign has the potential to be clingy. Cuz at the end of the day your dealing with feelings I suppose. I have Libra Moon and Cancer Venus and in my mind, I do think I can get carried away sometimes and want the company of a specific individual but its more like amowls said, its because we get bored sometimes.

I've NEVER been clingy in any relationship ever. I love my me time so I can totally respect when the other needs time alone. Plus, I have a gazillion hobbies (gem sun) so I always have something to do. However, like I said, we just like company sometimes.
As far as Pisces not being clingy, well, I don't believe that to be true from my experiences. My wife is a Pisces Sun, Cancer Asc, and Aqua Venus and she's very clingy.

Another Aqua I used to date with a Sag stellium, cap Venus, and Scorp Asc was extremely clingy but I didn't mind cuz she was very fun to be around.

I know how you feel, CrazyAquarian. It kind of amazes me how insensitive they can be towards other people at times yet crazy sensitive whenever it comes to anything about themselves. Whenever my Cancer friend does something that bothers me, I used to just kind of hope she would figure it out by my body language, but that didn't work out. After that, I was just as blunt as possible. They would be mad for a while, but they won't be mad forever. I think.

----

Ironically, I'm not clingy with friends or family at all, but I would consider myself as one of the most clingy people on Earth. But only with romantic interests. I'm really self-conscious about it though, so I do my best to avoid being overly so.

Taurus Sun 7th
Gemini Moon 9th
Gemini Venus 9th
Libra ASC.

I really cannot stand sleeping alone in my bed.

My last boyfriend didn't mind at all. Actually, he reveled in it. He was a Scorp Sun/Sag Moon/Venus Libra. We did everything together. Or at the very least we were in the same room. We only broke up due to cultural differences between our families.

The ex before him, a Pisces Sun/Taurus Moon/Aries Venus, hated my clingyness, and broke up with me because he said he just wanted to be alone from now on.

Right now, I'm seeing an Aqua Sun/Gem Moon/Aqua Venus. I really don't want to scare him off. I'm really attached to him and losing sleep at night thinking about him, but he probably doesn't feel the same. Lol. I always ask before I come over, and I always reassure him that he doesn't have to say yes, and he can refuse if he wants alone time, but he always just says he "doesn't mind". Note: I only ask him maybe twice a week. I really would like to see him more, but that would probably be pushing it. He never asks me to come over... only rarely, but he only asks me if I'm already talking to him. I don't know what to think. :/

Well, this guy is quite clingy, but what also strikes me is that he gets slightly too paranoid at times (he's a conspiracy theorist, sees conspiracies and secret organisations in absolutely everything up to the point where it just gets rediculous ).

Incidentally, he has a Scorpio Mercury. Not saying it has anything to do with it, but...

What I notice is that he also puts too much emotional value in things. At least friendships... Or, at least our friendship. To him, I'm his best friend. Granted, he doesn't have all that many friends, let alone good friends or best friends. But when he talks about me being his best friend, he's always asking me if he's my best friend too, as if he's looking for confirmation or at least some sense of security. It makes me kind of feel obliged to call him my best friend while in all fairness, I don't really like to think in terms of "best". I honestly feel that if I tell him that he's not necessarily my "best" friend but a very good friend whom I value, that I'd break his heart.

Thankfully, yes

The type of man I usually go for does resemble my father a tiny little bit (as in: have a lot of Earth or dominant Earth in them) but apart from that, they don't resemble my father (or my mother, which can also be the case if the mother has taken on the archetypal role of the father - which is certainly the case in our family) in any way

And all is explained in my chart, of course - well, not really all because I don't always agree with what's been said about those particular planetary/asteroid/house positions. There's always something about my partner having to be jealous or clingy (8th house ruler being the Moon in my 7th house ) and both of them are actually things that I can't stand... But anyway, I digress.

I do notice that a lot of people pick a partner based on the role in which they have seen their parent of that particular gender or based on how they are/look themselves. Often they even pick partners based on what class or status they have grown up in, which I find even more wrong!

Come to think of it, mentioning that "clingy" thing was actually more on topic than digressing

Perhaps some more proof as to what others have said .. Pisces Sun/Venus, Libra Moon

He said he wanted to take it easy (slow down) this week, no flirting. This lasted 3 days and I was being very cautious about his request. He is the one who started it up again.

Libras generally need a partner, but if they're as clingy as some say then they've got something else going on in their chart. In pure form Libras are about 50/50 anything (at least when their scales are balanced) which means about half the time they want to be with someone else (doesn't have to be romantic) or others, and about the other half they want to be alone reading a book, listening to some music alone, etc. A Libra that is smothered will become unbalanced just as one who is forced into isolation, and by unbalanced I do mean they can actually break down from it.

I'm trying to think of one and the only Libra I can think of who was clingy at times still had to have her alone time. There was something wrong with her, however, and she also had a lot of Scorpio energy gone bad in her chart as well which is what I think made her clingy.

As for myself I'm a Libra sun with stellium that includes Venus and no one would call me clingy. I generally have to make an effort that I sometimes find tiring to give everyone the time they want with me, even romantic partners (though I also have a Sag stellium that probably makes me more independent as well). It's true that I'd be devastated if I lost all my friends and close ones but I most certainly do not need to have my hand held to go buy milk from the store.

As for Cancer, what I've noticed is that they need more support, but when (and IF) they get it then they stop being so clingy. I've seen repeatedly, from a Cancer man to a little Cancer girl and even one with a Cancer moon...they were disturbingly clingy at times but when they got what they needed then the clinginess went away and they became much stronger and more assertive people (the Cancer girl has gone from being a submissive to the head of the pack all the other girls she knows looks up to and they cling to her rather than the other way around).

I'm too tired to explain how that works right now.

To me clingy is when a person wants to be with me all the time. Or tries to stop me from doing things on my own.

My s.o is a libra and while he loves doing things together, he doesn't "demand" my time.

Sometimes I need to go on trips for one week or two. Once I needed to go away for a few months, and all he did was giving me a kiss and wishing me good luck.

I think it's more a synastry thing actually.

The most clingy person I know is a Scorp sun and Taurus Moon, she is very clingy with me. I am only clingy with people when I am out of my comfort zone (Im virgo sun, pisces moon and cancer rising)

But I also have a friend who is virgo sun and sag moon, which is extremely clingy as well, and that is not in her natal chart anywhere.

My boyfriend is libra sun with pisces moon and he is sometimes clingy, but sometimes he is not. I am never clingy with him, not even when we go out somewhere.

But I have a friend who is aqua sun and scorpio moon, and somehow when I am with her, I am a bit clingy yes!

And it goes on like that...it seems that some people are clingy with some people, but not with some other people... it feels kind of random who is clingy with who... thats why I think its more a synastry thing
