It glitched the first time. On Benedict Moon's thread which is here http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/209137.html we started a discussion about various aspects in astrology that are expressed in art. I think it deserves a separate thread and please feel free to suggest another name for it, since my inspiration at a low point this evening.

Thanks for contributing!

i think that first pic has a strong gemini feel...except for the fact that its two girls and not a guy and a girl as is the symbol of gemini, the twins...gemini is usually shown with a girl and boy

is this the kind of discussion your looking for?

I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate?

UGH, the scream...i dont like that pic....munch made such an unusual choice of use for the colors...he used cool colors for the focal point when the focal point has nothing but cool colors all around it except for the sky...it really doesnt make the focal pop out...in fact, the thing that does make that guy pop out is the fact hes front and center

that piece just screams "DULL!!!"

Art is subjective Just post something and state what it means to you...
And of course, we can discuss what we post.

These are sculptures of hands by Bruce Nauman. They represent different aspects of life to me.

(On a funnier note.. they also remind me of the hand in the Adams Family LOL)

He has Sagittarius Sun opposite Gemini Jupiter.. Since Gemini rules hands - it could be related to his choice of art.

Oh, I love 'The Scream' and I have Saturn in the 12th, weird!
But, my favorites are Frida Kahlo, Basquiat, Salvadore Dali, Pablo Piscasso, and I like some Andy Warhol stuff.
I'll put up some pics when I find the ones I like the most.
Great thread.

Gypsee, I also have Saturn in the 12th and I think the scream seems so representative of this aspect. It's like the character is just about to drown in the stream, all alone, all alone in the whole wide world, while other people are just strolling peacefully along the bridge.

DaVinci had Mercury(H10 ruler) in H4,oppo Saturn, trine Pluto. I primarily seen Saturn all over his work; his structural prowess, eleboration, depth; lots of consideration and deliberance; mastery of craftmenship.
His models are of Mercurian kind, interestingly, androgynous which contibuted to continous discussions about his sexuality; He also has Taurus Venus,I find it appropriate.
Beautiful thread,Maira!

First thing that caught my eye about Rodin is his Venus Conj Saturn.

I take Rodin as strongest example of ScopSun,CappyAsc; Gérard Depardieu is excelent in his portrait of Rodin, being himself CappySun,ScorpMoon, sharing same Venus position in Sag!

Van Gogh here tries to captures bar as a place where one can go insane, come undone or commit crime; with red and green wnats to colour human's passions;and everything is threaded with yellow, sulphur yellow-hell.
He has Pisces Venus/Mars conj,he is such a colorist,u can't appreciate that unless u look at art strictly chronologically, what a schock his work was! Conj with wide Square with Moon, his artistic views r deeply personal, they shaped him, even disturbed him.
Many strong Venuses, among our examples, naturally, but,I don't think this is common in other forms of art.

Venus, you had me looking Van Gogh's chart to find out why I absolutely love him. When I read your comment I thought that my Sun/Ven/Mars conjunction in Aries loves his in Pisces. Buuut... he's Aries sun in the 10th according to astrotheme. "Bold" is indeed a good choice when it comes to describing his paintings.

Van Gogh is awesome.

and here is a Dali, I have this one, canvas on wood in my living room.

Edit:
They are both water suns, as so is Basquiat.
That's all I got for right now.

^^^This is the mind of a Cancerian. The Artist of this work actually has Sun and Moon in Cancer. Here's the site where you can find this, and more of her work: http://www.art-by-mia.com/

This is the mind of a famous 12th house Cancerian stellium: Frida Kahlo again. Its her inner world through and through. This is probably the only work not really touched by her Venus/Pluto conjunction IMO. It works for both 12th housers and Cancer/water planets, or a combo of both.
