How are you about gender roles? Do you believe in them with fervor (being ultra feminine if you're a girl or being super masculine for guys), or do you just do what the hell you want to do?

Me, personally, I've had no problems as long as I've been free to keep a sort of duality so to speak. I have a very feminine Sun, but I would NEVER want to be seen as the dainty damsel. On the other hand, I also would never want to be treated totally like one of the guys. The first time I wore a dress and LIKED IT was at the age of 22. =__= I also hated, however, to do lawn work in highschool since it was considered a 'guy's job'. I dunno, I'm just running with another idea since I do carry an almost unisex venus.

Thoughts, comments, concerns?

I used to love dresses, and moved onto long skirts, but I've hardly been super-feminine either. I feel the same way as you - and have moon conjunct venus, square mars in pisces (although I wouldn't mind coming across as more of a girly-girl, instead of receiving the "sexy lady" comments on okcupid, recently, and the treatment I've received a lot in the past.

I'm a complete slave to comfort when it comes
to style, so that means I'll usually wear
black denim and a comfy blouse, since
I consider t-shirts too informal.. don't ask why
(venus conjunct asc).
I also like clothes in dark colors, if you
looked in my closet, you'd probably find
80-90% of the clothes are either gray,
or black. (Pluto opposition asc?)

Oooo, this is a little bit deeper than style, I'm afraid. Overall, I'm polling about Gender (or feminine/masculine) and its relevence to the Gem Venus. And I'm wondering how you could have Venus in Gemini opposite Pluto unless you're very very young?

I think if I had a role model for gender, it would probably be Xena. (I think I've mentioned her too many times on this forum..LOL) I think life would be awesome if I were the goodlooking valkyrie or atleast the one with beauty and brains...hehe. I played with dolls and a soccer ball in the same breath once. I don't think I could ever be ultra feminine, and I am a Cancer Sun, which is strange. But then if I'm completely masculine, I don't feel right either.

EDIT: I forgot to add, another statement that's weird to me: that tattoos do not belong on women. I say this because I have come across guys (and girls) who feel that way. To me its like....why the eff not? But that is their opinion and they are entitled to it.

Oh my bad, I wasn't thinking outside my chart again. You see, my Venus (in the middle degrees) was opposed by Pluto when I was well into highschool, about 8 years ago. I'm guessing your Venus is at the earlier degrees?

Same

During my childhood, I was very girly, and then when I went through puberty I was very much a tomboy... now I have achieved a happy medium. I really can fit in any situation and be happy with it--minus the extremes. I'm not a girly girl yet I do not wish to be a man at all lol.

Actually when I think about it, comfort is the primary thing influences my everyday dressing choices. Probably why I'm in jeans or yoga pants more often than not.

Oh wow! I'm SO not girly-girl, that I don't even own any make-up! Never really have. Only a few things, and they rotted away in a drawer. I hate dresses. Try to avoid them as much as I can, but if it's a big to-do, then yeah, I'll go for it and get all gussied up. I'm tall, so any kind of a shoe with a heel annoys me to no end. I wear only flat shoes. If I put on heels, I'm over six foot. I don't like towering over people like that.

Now I'm not quite sure what it's called, but an astrologer told me that my n.Venus (in Gemini) is outside of some sort of orbit. It doesn't fall into the range Venus normally sits at. Because of that, I don't really identify with girl stuff. WOW! Did she ever hit the nail! Yeah, there's so much that I don't get about being a girl. Clothes bore me to death, and I can't understand the fussy attitude some women have about keeping their houses super-clean, their make-up, their clothes, etc.. Blech... I'm horrible at sports, so I was never a tomboy in that sense. However, I get accused of "thinking like a man." I've always got on better with men than women, and in general, certain kinds of women seem to dislike me a lot. Usually the real girly-girl ones, who travel together in packs.

I'm not sexually attracted to women, but I will notice if a woman is pretty. Maybe it's all the Taurus in my chart. Noticing beauty, that sort of thing. Also not sure if maybe all the Aires in my chart also makes me a whole lot less girly-girl than most.

I do feel that Venus in Gemini doesn't make me afraid of being both male and female. Although in my case, I think the male side might be a tad bit stronger. I'm perfectly ok with homosexuality, and see nothing "wrong" with it at all.

It sounds like she was saying your Venus is out-of-bounds. I forget if that's the same thing as being unaspected or not. Mine is unaspected and I usually overdo it or underdo it, no inbetweens. Haven't really been able to fit myself into the Venus principle though (something I discussed in the Lilith thread). I'm definitely not a make-up person neither unless its a special occasion or for art-expression purposes (my Venus is in the 5th).

You have significant Aries in your chart, if I remember correctly, so perhaps that is why you lean a little bit more towards the masculine side. Actually, it seems more like a side effect of the out-of-bounds Venus.

And yeah, I have never (since I was little) seen why homosexuality could be "wrong". To me, its as natural for them as it is for us to have hetero relationships. Its always been weird to me that people could base their argument on what the bible says.

It's funny you put this thread up. I was just thinking this very same thing yesterday. **shakes head smiling**

I always FORGET that I'm a lady. I use lady, to remind myself that I AM a lady.

I carry my groceries from my car up the two flights of stairs to my apartment, including two cases of water (the 35 pack of water bottles) at a time with no thought about leaving it for a guy.

I wear pants 364 days out of the year, (usually business casual no matter the function--Cap Asc) think nightgowns are overrated, haven't painted my nails in years, do my hair only out of necessity -- and make up? Only if I haven't slept well, and need to cover up the dark circles.

I've got lots of masculine placements besides. My emotions are the most feminine part of me, and sometimes I curse it.

I am feminine as a person you could say.It is the Cancer moon and Mars.
I am soft spoken and feel feminine as far as being kind hearted and gentle.

I think the Gem Venus is masculine in it's thinking which I am very much.
So, I have both sides.Inside, I do think like a man.
However,my heart is tender from the Cancer moon.
I dress in a simple tailored way, no frills or fluffy

Yeah! That's pretty much the exact same thing the astrologer told me. That I'm just not into stereotypical girl stuff, and it's due to the Venus placement.

I think my only consistent beauty routine I have is my eyebrows. Because If I don't have them done, I start looking like a few male family members. I guess if I could coin a phrase for my style of dress, it would be casually eclectic?

And as for "lady"....meh. I'm suddenly reminded of the 2-3 years I invested in a Scorpio with Pisces Moon/Libra Venus. In retrospect, I think his moon attached the Cancer energy in my chart and yes, that is me...but it isn't the whole story. I'm just a little resentful that he felt "betrayed' when he realized I could outdrink and outgame him. What he projected onto me was really narrow and unrealistic.

It might help to mention what sign your mercury is in, since Mercury rules Gem.

I have Gem. Venus (7th) and Leo Mercury (8th. I'm very feminine, love dresses, make up, and colored tights, oh and my hair is my asset.

But when I was younger I wasn't as feminine, definitely a tom boy as a kid -over alls and short bob haircuts growing up.

I can relate, I also have a water Moon - Pisces, it really tones down all the masculine stuff in my chart.

Yeah, that's the thing....my Mercury is in Cancer, one of the most feminine signs. Again, I don't mind doing *some* feminine things....I just need to balance it out with the masculine. Or so I've realized now.
