Did they actually do anything that deserved praise?

I mean… What I am asking is…. Were you reluctant to offer praise because they genuinely did not deserve the praise… (since they were lazy/did nothing) --- OR --- were you reluctant to offer praise because you simply had a problem with their personality (regardless of whether or not they deserved it)?
