Deal breakers…

I was listening astrologer Debra Clement’s itunes pod cast recently, and she had a guest on her show (forgot the name) .They were discussing the difference between Venus and Juno. Basically the point was made that while Venus represents what we like and find attractive… qualities the make us melt, and what we appreciate in relationships… Juno represents our deal breakers (what we ‘need‘ in long term relationships)… as to weather or not we would be willing to fully commit…

For example… a person with Venus in Scorpio/Juno in Aquarius …they may be very attracted to someone with an intensity and brooding glamour about them, but what they really need, and what their true deal braker is… is whether or not they are able to be friends with that person, and if there is a real intellectual connection there…

For myself it is not so clear cut though. I have Juno Conjunct Venus in Sag… yes, I just love those fun Sag characteristics, and it is a deal braker that he has strong morel principles…like actual integrity… but of course, since both placements are conjunct it may be hard to tell which tendencies come from which placement….

So people, please tell me… do you feel that Venus is a preference, but that Juno is the deal breaker? I’d love to hear about it.

I just looked my Juno up and can identify a bit with your question.

My Juno is 19 Sag 8th House and my Venus is 29 Sco 8th House.

After sitting and feeling for a bit, I think it may be a blessing your Venus is conj your Juno. I would read that to mean, you are built to value the same energy you require in love. There are many people who require a specific diet, but eat only junk food. You may be a person who has a palate for that which also nourishes you. I would also wonder if you have a tendency to be more loving toward a partner when they interact with you in a Sag way (value your freedom, travel with you, seek growth, interact truthfully, plan for the future, engage you with humor and optimism, etc...).

Moon, Mars/Venus, and even Pluto seem to have more to do with who we choose over all (at least it feels that way with my chart). I have a Sun/Neptune conjunction and a Juno/Neptune conjunction (Sun and Juno are out of orb with each other). When I date other Sagittarius people, it's this amazing and intense dream of romantic idealism. The sex is always amazing and there is this feeling of being perfect for each other. Then we agree to break up 3 moths later without a tear shed.

I get so much more from relationships based on other things in my chart. I just need whoever I date to respect my freedom, understand that there is always a way through bad situations, enjoy humor, and have some sort of spiritual interest. That's how I identify the Juno in my chart. =)

I have my juno conjunct my desc (by 1 degree) in my seventh house (libra) and since my moon, venus and mercury are in libra too I guess my ideal guy isn't really conflicting in any way?

They HAVE to be intelligent, witty, worldly, refined, and have some sort of charm (not in a trite sort of way), but since my mars is in virgo, they need to be ambitious, a go getter. And you know, self assured in a quiet sort of way.

I have Venus Scorpio Juno Scorpio and it is those men whom I find the most sexually appealing and also the ones who can really make me pay attention. I also find that I'm really drawn to my moon sign Aquarius, I find great delight in oddballness. Huge difference though, the attraction towards Aquarius feels much closer, deep spiritual loving and platonic - and they would appear to be the better match because of the complete understanding which is always felt both ways. The Scorpio attraction is much more hightened and animalistic, more primal and unsettling.

If you have a Venus in one sign and a Juno in another, but the man has two completely different signs is that a dealbreaker in and of itself?

fire opal said “If you have a Venus in one sign and a Juno in another, but the man has two completely different signs is that a dealbreaker in and of itself?”

When talking about Venus and Juno, I’m referring more to the style of the person then to the signs themselves specifically. The actual signs prominent in the partners chart seem to resonate more strongly with the relationship houses… you know, the 7th, 8th and 5th house cusps, their rulers, and planets in those houses…

if Venus were ruling any of these houses then, yes, in terms of actual signs likely to turn up in the partners chart, Venus would be significant. If Venus is not connected to one of the relationship houses, it usually seems to refer to simply the type of ‘glamour’ that attracts you, and the types of experiences you appreciate in the relationship.

Juno placements, as Juno doesn’t rule any houses, seem to simply refer to qualities that we insist upon having in a partner if the relationship is to be serious… Juno is the committed spouse. They may not be born of the Juno sign itself, but they will have those qualities one way or another… actually, I have noticed that the Juno sign does often show up in the partners chart, but sometimes not in an obvious way…. Like not as the Sun, Moon or Asc sign (although I have noticed this too)… but Juno in Scorp might marry a person with a stellium in the 8th house, or a Juno in Cap may select a mate that has strong Saturn aspects in the chart, or Juno in Taurus may commit to someone with only Venus in Taurus…. Sometimes it’s even something like Juno conjunct an angle… even the partners Dsc…

My Venus makes absolutely no sense.
It's in Capricorn, and I am totally turned off (in a romantic sense) by all the qualities of that sign.
I can appreciate them in their own right, and admire them for them, but do they make me dizzy with love? Nope.

Although, it is in the 3rd house, so does anyone think that this may more be to do with how I like communication in relationships, e.g. I have no tolerance for implications or hints in communication, I like it straight to the point, clear, harsh if it must be, just purely stripped and honest.

If the above rings true, then how can I find out what the chart says about the type of people I am drawn to on an emotional basis?
Would I be best looking at the 7th house?
Or would the JUno placement perhaps shed some light on this?

I have Juno conjunct Venus, but in different signs. Venus is in Pisces, Juno is in Aries. Frankly, I'm not so sure I'm drawn to Pisces types. I'm mainly attracted to Sag types, which is my Mars sign, as well as my DSC sign.

Typical. Venus in Taurus, Juno in Libra. Libras are the most frustrating creatures to me in relationships.

Amowls,

what house does Venus rule in your chart?
And what is the ruler of your 5th, 7th and 8th house?

Venus rules the 5th (Libra) and 12th (Taurus). It's in my 10th conjunct NN (as well as the aforementioned Juno, Union and Aphrodite).

7th ruler is Jupiter in Aries in 11th (mutual reception to Mars in Sag).

8th ruler is Saturn in 7th in Sag (conj DSC)

Thanks.

Interesting that Venus rules your 5th house and still doesn`t have anything to say what you are attracted to.

Though I must say that the Sagittarian archetype seems so much stronger (through the mutual reception with Mars in Sag and DESC and 8th house ruler in Sag).
Maybe they are simply overpowering the Saturnian archetype.

How about a man who combines the best of both worlds?

Just been comparing 3 other long-term marriages with my own (which is 27 years so far), and have noticed all have these common elements involving Juno :

- The North Node/Juno midpoint of one of the partners is either closely conjunct/opposite or trine (1.5 deg orb) the Sun of the other partner. (In Synastry).

- Juno of one partner is closely (1.5 deg orb) conjunct/opp/trine a "romance" midpoint of the other partner (eg. Sun/Moon or Mars/Venus).(In Synastry)

- The name asteroid (if there is one)of the one person's partner is conjunct the Juno or Venus of that partner.(In Synastry)

- Juno is conjunct/opp/trine Venus in Composite.

In my own marriage we have:
-My husband's NN/Juno midpoint is exactly conjunct my sun.
-My Juno is exactly conjunct my husband's Venus/Mars midpoint.
-my husband's surname asteroid on my chart is closely conjunct his Juno on his chart.
- In composite we have a close Venus Juno conjunction.

Also my Juno is in Virgo and my husband's sun is in Virgo - they are widely conjunct. His Juno is in Aries and my Asc is in Aries, but not conjunct.

I also like Cap and Aqua types as well (Uranus is exactly conjunct my Saturn so conjunct my DSC, too, and both are square Venus). Neptune is in my 7th, as well. I think Pisces is not mental enough for me. I like Pisces love but not Pisces as a lover.

Hmm, my Juno placement describes a lot of things about the type of man I need as a partner
Its in Taurus, widely conjunct Jupiter, trine Saturn/Uranus
=
So, I need a man, who is faithful, practical, likes hugging, good food and the nature (Taurus)
I like men who is funny, generous and into sport (Jupiter)
He also needs to be realiable, and someone who doesnt like wasting time (Saturn)
We should be friends too, and he has to accept my need for alone time (Uranus)

My DC is Pisces, so he should be opened to spirituality

Personally, my Venus is what I find attractive to *observe*, but not what I want to get emotionally, or even physically, involved with.

My Venus is in Aries. It's fun to flirt, yes, but that does not mean we're even going to first base, or even for a cup of coffee.

Someone with a lot of attractive Aries characteristis I will observe the attractiveness of and admit they have attractive qualities, but that does not mean I am actually attracted to that person at all, or any more so than anyone else.

Does that make any sense?

My Juno is in Libra. Almost all of my boyfriends have been Libras. If they weren't Libras, they were at least artists or musicians, and they were ALL intelligent.

Amowls,

well, I think Saturn and Uranus would definitely clash with the Neptunian evasiveness / dreaminess, and Sagittarius, though idealistic, is not really all that dreamy, so it makes sense to me.
I liked your differentiation between "pisces-love" and "Pisces-lover".

I have Venus in Pisces house 10
Juno Scorpio house 6

All I know is that it's a deal breaker if the guy is fake.
Fake as in acting like he wants a relationship...Cause I look like the kind of girl that only puts out in relationships, thinking as long as I'm in a relationship I'll put out immediately...and thinks he can make a pathetic attempt to h()mp and dump my @ss?....ha
NOPE! They have to prove it. I will eventually put out but not right away.
Probably why my number(if you know what I mean) is still only at one.

I will respect a guy more if he admits he just wants sex...that doesn't mean I will have it with him though...I just respect him more as a person for being honest. lol
And if a guy says he wants a relationship with me...then he needs to prove that I am more than just a piece of @ss to him.

I think this may have to do with 6 house...but I don't like guys who are easy. Just like how a guy can be turned off by a woman who is too easy...Well I feel the same way about men sometimes. I had to tell a guy that once..."Why would I do that? That would be too easy."
Anyway I like a guy who is into me, but also has standards. Guys who seem like they would f()ck anyone with a v@g and heartbeat is not really flattering that he is interested in me too, just like everyone else.

I can see the Scorpio thing, Stawr. Sex=power.

What aspects do your Mars and Venus make, jw? We have the same Venus in terms of sign and house, but I don't mind having sex on the first date... Or even dating the person I'm having sex with. My Mars is in Sag.

the guy I was in my longest relationship with had no Pisces placements (unless he was a rising who knows)...Triple Cancer,...I use to take a guy being clingy as flattery.

My tastes and standards have been evolving since 2010.

The last two guys where clingy (I met both these guys in 2009)...I mean of course we need to feel needed. But to the point where you feel like the ATM machine in the relationship...is when I find the person I'm with to be disgusting.

I now realize I want a guy to need me but also has his own sh!t together. And doesn't need me cause they have this illusion that I will share all my money with them...and I'm only 21 so it's not like I really have that much anyway.
After my relationship with my ex...I have been seeing, talking to, and dating guys with Pisces placements. Guys who have Mars, Venus, and Mercury here.
And I do like this one guy who has Pisces Sun, we like the same kind of shows, have some similar interests, and he is funny and I just like talking to him...but nothing is really going on with us.

And the 10th house...gosh I have had some insane crushes on guys way older than me. The guys keep getting older than me!...
*Boyfriend summer 09: A Cancer who is a year younger than me.
*Boyfriend from 09-10: Gemini with triple Cancer 5 years older than me.
*Guy that hung with a lot in summer (sorta had a fling) 2010: Aquarius 7 years older than me.
*Guy I dated this year, for a few months: Aries 10 years older than me.

But none had a job...I'm making progress though the last one at least was going to school. lol

I have Mars in Aquarius also in house 10.

I an open to casual sex, I almost did twice...but then both the guys at the last minute did something that just didn't sit well with my ego.(Leo IC lol) So I backed out.

And there was a point where I refused to get back with my ex...but we would still end up having sex. But I don't even talk to him anymore...cause I got sick of his fits he would throw if he didn't get his way.

And I will post my Venus and Mars aspects...
