I am a virgo and I was a social worker for a little over 3 years and yesterday was my last day as a social worker bc I gave a one month and a half notice bc I want to focus on finishing school and then getting my license to be a counselor. My real passion is in counseling. I participated in the hiring process of my replacement and helped with training my replacement.I lasted as a social worker as long as I did bc the job is very flexible and nobody is bossing you around and policing you. I could come in and leave when I pleased as long as I did my job and my billing well which I did. Virgos like to serve but we do not like been bossed around though, and at some point I handled 93 cases so I can handle responsibility but I left bc I hate the immense amount of paperwork and monotony... My sag rising decided it was time for a change and time to focus on my real strengths and passion. I had the skills to be a social worker but my passion is in psychology so I wasn't really happy in this field although I enjoyed the feeling of helping people in need. I am responsible but I have never been interested in my life in been a manager or someone's boss. I like to work independently and do my own thing and feel like I am helping others with my profession. Once I do my internship as a counselor I want to branch out on my own and be my own boss. I do not wish to work for an agency long term. I know scorpios like been their own boss as well...but then again who doesn't? that is the dream LOL. Ohh I should mention that I have sun in virgo in the 10th house. The house placement could explain why I dont like to be bossed around, IDK. I am open to constructive feedback that is given well and luckily both bosses I have had in this field were good at this (during the one year evaluation) but getting positive feedback is also important for me and anyone! (throughout the year, not just during one year evaluation) . **I have to say that although I do not want to be a boss I would be good at it bec I know how to provide constructive criticism and provide plenty of positive feedback every time I get the chance. I like to instill confidence in others! I enjoy doing this. I would create positive work environment and make time for team bonding. I think team bonding is very important! If productivity needed to be raised I would be creative enough to come up with a FRIENDLY competition that will motivate the employees to increase productivity which will simultaneously enhance team bonding so that this is effective and doesn't turn ugly. Self fulfilling prophecy with management and teachers: if you project to your employees that they are going to do well it causes a reaction in the employees which will result in doing well. If you project unto them that you are unsure they will do well it will undermine their confidence and generate results that do not reflect their best. Oh the world of organizational psychology. Everyone in management should be trained on how to be an effective leader! bec it makes a huge difference in the work environment and the productivity of the employees.

Heeeeey omg, that's one of my passions! Organizational psychology. I don't want to be a boss myself, but love to train other people in how to be a good boss toooo . Aha . I want to be a psychologist and have a year left to get my bachelors. My true passion is in clinical psychology...just dealing with people's emotional problems and such. But i would love to be able to do both i/o and clinical in my own firm or something. I am really excited, but am worried the job i'll get as a psychologist won't be enough to pay back the loans i'll have to take out to get a phd. If i can ask, how much did you earn as a social worker? Sorry if that comes off as a rude question.IP: Logged |

Just sayin'.... if you've met a handful of Scorpios in your young life, R.A.S., you still have no authority to lump them all into a category.
Okay, so you don't fit into the lump of most scorpios. That's good. Obviously this was my experience and the thread was asking a general question about sun signs, which of course, requires that I generalize.

Both virgo and scorpios are very good works from my experience. Scorpio: Good decision maker Size up situation quickly Can handle any job given to them, reliable Keeps safty distance from other workers Never complain Virgo: Never complains Always punctual Good with detail, very reliable. Never gets personal Very professional and humble Doesn’t make much mistake Doesn’t mind doing the jobs that others don’t want. Just a side note: Not too long ago, a manager of the company started his “shadow” company and stole millions of dollars from my company. 3 accomplices have confessed and got kicked out. Another scorpio worker acts as the window for the company, very important decision-making position, no less than the manager. She should be very clear about all money flow in and out of the company, but she claims not knowing about the existence of this “shadow” company (that isn’t impossible if you were just an average and mind-your-own-business worker). She is a very capable and reliable worker, well respected by others, but I ponder the possibility of her as a scorpio not knowing about the scandal of the manager.

Georgefield: Firstly very sorry to hear about the loss.Scenario 1: Scorpions aren't god or goddesses. Scorpions have intuition but that doesn't mean we believe in it and use it every time. If she didn't know then she didn't. Even if you knew very little to not to understand much.Maybe it can be light bulb moment for Scorpio when you informed. It also depends on how old Scorpio is ? Did Scorpio hang out with these other shady group or not? Most of the times Scorpio is happy to do their job well or even better than their colleagues and have some relations with their colleagues. If she was dedicated to your company then probably she is as surprised as you are. If this is the case Scorpio would be more dedicated and mostly would try to show that he/ she is trustworthy. Again don't have extreme expectation. Maybe it wouldn't worth to be suspicious of Scorpio. Maybe take her head on how you can make your system more secure and considering 3 people are losing their job. It isn't very secure position for any employee. Scorpio wants to know what it means for business and how all this is going to affect her? Scenario 2: I can even think whole ideas was hers as anyone is capable to do that irrespective of their sign. If we are talking about Scorpio, Have you given Scorpion any motivation ? Have you given Scorpio any reason to go against you ? What are the values or ideals of this Scorpio? Is there any reason like family problems or anything which would make Scorpio do something bad or be greedy? Do you think she was as involved with money as you think ? I can say from my experience if I am in Sales or Manager position I do not give too much importance to Accounting unless I have to sit and deal with them. Does she understands and take cares for account on day-to-day basis? Don't just go on whether you like her or not. As some Scorpions are capable of being bad but I would think above questions would answer that. One more thing Scorpio doesn't complain as they wait until it gets very bad, blow up or have breakdown. Virgos complaint to colleagues. amelia28: I can understand your Sag rising would want to do more thing. It is very interesting you noted about Sun in 10th. We had news here about how bad bosses just lack good communication skills, maybe it makes sense. RunAround Screaming: Thank you. IP: Logged |

They're also pretty antisocial and can also be very lazy and irresponsible. I don't see how this is a close call at all. Lol.The only upside to Scorpio is that they can be brilliant. They can beat out the narrow-minded and unimaginative virgo through sheer talent and creativity (especially if they have a sagittarius mercury). But few people are more hardworking than a virgo. Yet look at Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson, both two of the most innovative singers who completely revolutionized music by doing something new. If you want to talk talented AND hardworking, though. Talk to a Capricorn. Now, they can definitely beat a scorpio.
Talent and Sun Sign have absolutely nothing to do with each other. You can find geniuses in every sign. Just saying... IP: Logged |

@RAS: I don't know what kind of drama you've seen going down in the workplace, but for you to say that most Scorpios are associated with causing it is almost irresponsible. It's not just me that doesn't fit that description. It's many, many Scorpios who are ABOVE causing drama "right and left". I have worked since the age of 15, in bakeries, at Staples, at drug stores, as a waitress, and then a series of law firm jobs as an attorney from 1995 until now. I've seen a TON of Scorpios in action on the job, whether it be a low paying job or a managerial position...and I can tell you that your generalization falls flat on its face. Maybe the Scorpios you've rooted out as drama queens had other individual aspects that caused them to be the way they were, or maybe it was their Moon sign ...but it's not the Sun sign. There are too many Scorpios who have enough personal pride that they would not allow themselves to be cast in the role of drama queen at work. IP: Logged |

Just a very negative person. They were good at the mechanics of the job but if it were up to me I would have fired them because you can train a monkey to do a job but you can't make someone so shrouded in negativity and drama, pleasant to work with. People like that really make going to work with a good attitude very difficult. Brings everyone down.

R.A.S. you are truly missing the point. Of course there are a bunch of Scorpios who create drama wherever they go. There's also a bunch of Capricorns out there who create the same kind of drama, like my Capricorn mother who creates hellfire and drama wherever she goes, at the workplace, at a department store, at a restaurant or at home. And you can say this for every Sun sign. And, it's been said so many times, but I'll say it again... you have to examine the chart in its entirety. Any time you have a post like this it encourages generalizations from people who think they know "all Scorpios" or "all Aquarians" etc etc. I'm really not impressed by your citing other posters who have encountered Scorpio drama queens. It's a big world. You're bound to run into a few Scorpios who are off the hook. I just don't care for the tenor of your original response. It demonstrates that you, personally, cannot see beyond the "few bad apples" and that's too bad, because there are a lot of evolved Scorpios out in the world (and the workplace) making a difference in ways that are important and worthy, all the while avoiding drama as a method of getting to what they want. and... RAS... seems this isn't the first time you've made generalizations about a Sun sign and managed to be WRONG. From another post of yours (June, 2011): posted June 16, 2011 12:51 PM pretty much everything you generalized is not true for me, though! i am extremely and easily compassionate and have a very loving personality. well i do have pisces SN and venus on my AC on the first. i can only speak for myself. i resonate with some of the aquarian energy you theorize about, but for the most part i have to say you don't really understand 'us' if i can speak for all of 'us', but have a good grasp of the stereotypes!

The stereotypes are there for a reason...Those few who don't fit the stereotype get angry because they're not like that. But stereotypes exist for a reason. I didn't make up the stereotype or just blurt them out because I've heard it from somebody else. I see this destructive behavior in scorpios all the time. I speak from observing people in real life. And then they go through several sort of transformations in their life...but they like to cause upheaval. Scorpios are just like that...they don't like when things are too settled and they want people to face the truth about things, that's just the nature of pluto. I'm not an authority on anything, that's just your emotions getting the better of you. I can just say what I want, and don't appreciate you telling me you don't like my tone. I haven't said a thing to you personally, until you did to me. So, if I'm not speaking to you personally, I can say what I want. Kay thanks. IP: Logged |

Random internet searches aren't proof of anything. People posting on the Internet are more likely to start topics asking about problems in their lives. It's much more rare for somebody to start a thread saying "Man, I really get along great with my Scorpio wife/husband/friend. We have really pleasant conversations every day and truly fulfill each other. The end." When your life is going well, you usually don't feel the need to post about it. When you have a problem, you are more likely to ask people about it. I mean, I could Google "white men serial killers" and find a lot of results, but that doesn't mean it's rational to assume most white men are serial killers. This is selection bias at work. You're entitled to your own opinion about Scorpios, but the evidence you've offered doesn't really hold a lot of water. IP: Logged |

There are a lot more topics started about scorpios being jerks than the other signs (other than aries) how does that not hold water?Every scorpio i have met except for 3 or 4 has been an anti-social person who is very private and kind of acts haughty and nonchalant towards others and is very careful about not showing their feelings or their motives at all. And their facial expression is usually blank. Think katy perry and her deer in headlights look, or demi moore and her ice cold facade. They are sweethearts once they trust you, but they are antisocial towards most people. I have nothing against scorpios, in fact i respect them, i just feel that they are too self-protective when there is no reason to be so. Its very much a pluto and mars combined thing. I have pluto in the first house and i can be like that sometimes---quiet and super private, and i have this look on my face like, you do not want to mess with me. There are those few "enlightened" scorpios who arent self-destructive and represent the eagle. They spread love around to others and arent bullies at all or jerks. In fact they spread joy everywhere they go, but i've found after talking to them that even they went through a "transformation" in their life where they used to be very revengeful and selfdestructive. You wouldnt believe how many scorpios have confessed this to me, and a lot of them still had that self-protectiveness and that poker face to them IP: Logged |

"i just feel that they are too self-protective when there is no reason to be so" being who you are is not always about making sense. it's just the way it is. not 'rational acting'. so imo there's no sense in trying to make sense of it. you don't get it, others do. end of story. IP: Logged |

I would say Virgo because it is a mutable sign.. and hence they are more likely to do things *your* way... Scorpio could be great as well.. but they are more stubborn (fixed)... so if you end up in a situation where the Scorpio employee disagrees with you.. or with your style of doing things... there can be a deadlock situation. A social worker/case manager with only a bachelor's degree makes typically around $30,000 to $35,000 a year. Basically enough to get by bc after tax reduction is not that much. If you have a masters and get a social worker position that requires for you to have a master your work income should go up significantly by $10,000 to $20,000 more starting. BTW........my favorite boss so far was a cancer woman . She was very good at team bonding and hiring people for her team that would get along with each other.
