I was wondering what all you KNOWflakes do as hobbies outside of posting on this lovely forum.

I have Cancer Sun and Gemini Mercury conj. Venus in the 9th House. Also, I have Sagittarius Saturn conj Uranus in the 3rd House. I'm starting to learn new languages. Por ejemplo, I'm rehearsing the Spanish I learned in high school and hopefully I'll be able to visit South America one day. I also would love to learn French because it's just such a beautiful sounding language. I hope to go to Paris for my honeymoon one day.

For hobbies I enjoy learning about other cultures. I've studied Spanish for 9 years and I'm fluent. I'm very interested in international relations as well as cultural studies and enjoy volunteering. I do photography and enjoy all forms of visual and artistic expression. Traveling feeds my urge to understand and create, there's nothing like visiting a new place and meeting new people, exploring and capturing all your discoveries.

I'm an Aquarius rising with Uranus in Sagittarius conjunct Sagittarius on the Midheaven. Which explains my interests in cultures, global relations and humanitarian work. The Venusian in me explains my love of the arts.

I'm horrible at languages - probably barring Spanish, which I have the feeling I'd pick up really, really easily if I committed to it; I've read signs or various other things in Spanish out loud and I noticed that it's like I have this innate ability to pronounce the words correctly, despite not really knowing the language...

Trouble is, I've never really had any interest in Spanish at all, it's always seemed pretty boring to me.

My fascination has always been with various languages from Asia - Mandarin, Japanese, Cantonese, and lately, Korean. Unfortunately I've read that those are the hardest to learn and after trying to a few times over the years I see that it's definitely true. I hate that because I'd love, love love to master those and move to Asia for a few years at some point.

Right now reading and learning astrology is pretty much my only hobby. I used to do a lot more creative-type stuff (writing, drawing, trying to learn instruments) but I believe I went as far as I could go with all those things and at that point I lost interest in them to some extent, although I still love the arts in a general sense, I have no real interest in participating in them or trying to create anything, myself.

I used to read alot too but in recent years my attention span is like a gnat's so I've put that hobby on hold until that runs its course. I was pretty big on playing video games too but the prices have gotten to the point where I'm not really willing to spend that kind of money, and in recent years there's been a decline in the quality of video games as well, so unfortunately gaming isn't something I do as often as I used to, either.

I love to play music, there's so much to learn & I am never content with where I am right now with it.
I used to play videogames, but instead I took that energy and applied it to learning to play musical instruments as it felt so much more productive.

I also like to grow food, make wines, lots of Earth sign kinda stuff

I love, love, love cooking. Ten years ago, when I first got into it, I used to experiment more and cook “international street food” like Asian veggie dumplings, empanadas, falafels. Now, I only really cook for small dinner parties or dates (rare) and family get-togethers (at least three times a year). The family parties are a big deal because I usually cater most of it and plan all of it. I am a big menu planner. I usually have a theme. I think this Christmas will be mostly Mexican but I haven’t planned it out yet. I say “mostly” because people will request things that are not theme related (my Saturn in Virgo hates that!). Like my one cousin, always wants spinach dip in the bread bowl even though I make it from the Knorr packet and with a pumpernickel round from the bakery. She could easily make it herself I even threw myself a big birthday bash last year and I made light, all low-fat food because I was dieting. It wasn’t selfish though because it was all good stuff. I still have the menu written down – salmon and orzo salad in radicchio cups, spicy grilled shrimp kabobs, grilled squash and onion kabobs, cremini mushroom quesadillas, corn & black bean salsa with blue corn tortilla chips, veggies and curry dip and hummus (store bought, I love Sabra Supremely Spicy Hummus!). It was perfect for summer. The Food Network and the Cooking Channel are always on and I have lots of cookbook and tons of printed out recipes from AllRecipes, Food Network and the Whole Foods site. I am also one of those people with a fondue pot, no, scratch that, two fondue pots, one for cheese and one for chocolate. I wish I had a chocolate fountain though, maybe I’ll get one and do Mexican hot chocolate fondue… I love it! I even go to food events, like Big Apple BBQ fest and the World Chocolate Expo. I consider myself a "low brow foodie" though because I don't drink wine - I'd rather to to a root beer tasting (hmm, gotta Google that). Any festival in any nearby big (or small really) city is on my agenda. I planned to go to Taste of DC last week but I just couldn’t afford it…

I don’t really bake. The measuring and stuff gets on my nerves but everyone asks me to make my date (no-nut) bread and orange cream cheese around Christmas time. I like making that because making the dates “explode” is like a cool science experiment and I act amazed every time I do it (psst, it’s baking soda and boiling water) and the cream cheese is 3 ingredients.

I also like spending time with the kids, two girls, that my grandmother has babysat for since they were born basically and they are now 8 and 11. We go everywhere together! It is like a “Big Sister” thing because their mother is a single mom and works two jobs to get by (I understand how they feel). We go bowling, playing miniature golf, to the mall, to county fairs. My aunt is a foster mother so my cousin brings the foster children along as well. Last year we went trick-or-treating and I was dressed as a goddess, this year I am reduced to “girly clown” (cool make-up and wig though). It is fun but it gets me down though because I want kids, like, yesterday. At the fair one of the games guys yelled “hey mom!” at me and I thought “Yay!” but,

Plus: I have an acoustic guitar covered in dust (I can play “Jingle Bells” and I used to know how to play most of “Happy Birthday” but I am pretty sure I forgot), a belly dance ensemble in my bottom drawer, a driver I haven’t used since last summer (I actually plan to go to the range at Chelsea Piers soon because it is open year round) and about 200-ish books. I got rid of a lot of them but I keep adding to the collection. I have a stack of 4 on my nightstand that I am in the middle of reading, all self-help

I love walking. It sounds basic but it is good cardio. I also love doing "walk-a-thon" type fundraisers and just group walks, fall foliage walks around Central Park and Memorial Day across the Brooklyn Bridge.

I also take classes in everything, from coaching and mentoring to certification in The Alexander Technique (just “intro to”) and I was thinking about Reiki I and II.

I have a Gemini-ruled 5th house with Mars in there. I think the food/party stuff might be Venus in the 6th conjunct the DC, with Moon in Libra in the 9th trine that Mars.

I also enjoy writing…mostly about myself and my interest (Sun conjunct Mercury – combust! - in Leo)…

Interestingly enough, even with all my 9th house placements, I have absolutely NO interest in religion whatsoever. I'm not Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Satanic (don't even know WHAT that is all about), Wiccan... nothing. I'm not even Atheist. I just don't care. But I do like astrology. I know, I'm weird.

I guess I believe in "Karma" and a higher understanding in the Universe. In fact, I do think perhaps there is a higher dimension that has different rules of physics than our own but is interconnected to create Balance and Equality, hence visions of the future that is granted to those who are more "in tuned" to this other dimension, communication with spirits, etc. Who knows. Maybe this other dimension is what "heaven" is? I'm just speaking out of my butt at this point, but I guess you guys will understand where I'm going with this.

I just don't put any stock on any religion WHATSOEVER. I'm almost confident when I say that a majority of the world's evils have occurred because of religion. I'm not discounting all of the good - there is A LOT of good has come of religion, but the fact that both evil and good have come from religion just proves that it isn't a "divine" road to salivation... or whatever.

Just my two cents.

My hobbies besides astrology are

Make up! I have a binder full of make up ideas cut out from magazines. I try a new look almost every single day.

Since I'm taking a break from school right now...I take time out of my day to read books...right now I'm reading Bridget Jones Diary.

And I always have time for my favorite women magazines...Especially Cosmopolitan.

This hobby has always fitted into my life...TV! I'm watching E news right now. I like the
*E channel.(E true hollywood stories,reality shows,Chelsea Lately)
*Mtv (Jersey Shore, pop up video...lookin forward to Bevis and Butthead being back on)
*Comedy Central (S. Park, Movies on that channel, Dave Chapel and Larry Cable Guy)
*Lifetime(Desperate Housewives, Dance Moms, and Lifetime Movies)
*Adultswim (Family Guy, American Dad, Tim and Eric Awesome Show)

SHOPPING!! I give my self monthly budgets and stick to them well so I can buy stuff and feel good about my purchases...whether it was a splurge, a save or somewhere in between.
I have a checklist of all the places I want to clothes shop. And I check of a different place every month.
It all started when I felt rutty shopping the usual places...and wanted to experience new places.
I guess you could say I'm kind of a variety freak. lol

And flirting with this guy I like. ;D

That is really about it currently.

This is quite an interesting thread, it is nice to get to know everyone!

As a 9th house Libra containing Moon and Uranus, I understand the fascination with language. I have a knack for it but I only know Elementary II (college freshman) level Spanish but I keep saying that I should to keep going with it because I did a good job with it at the time. ..

BelligerentPygmy – This guy I know who has the same Sun/Moon/Rising as us (Leo/Libra/Aqua - he was born the day before me actually, same year) is obsessed with Spanish language and culture and found his calling in the 7th grade, when we first had to choose a language. He is actually a high school Spanish teacher/adjunct community college instructor now and visits a Spanish speaking country at least once a year. We have it in us too!

I looked into learning Serbo-Croatian language last year because I was dating a Serbian. They don’t sell a Serbian or Croatian Rosetta Stone so I looked into teach yourself sites. It is so difficult, much harder than the Romance languages because it’s so different. If we were engaged, I would have taken the 10 week face to face course but since that wasn’t the case, uh, no. I still know how to say “good morning” though, Dobro Jutro!

I understand the religious bend too. I also have “An Introduction to Unitarian Universalism” and “Welcome: A Unitarian Universalism Primer” under those self-help books on the nightstand. UU appeals to me because it is more about philosophy and understanding than religion-religion. Some people think of it as a cult though (yikes - I don't see how that can be the case but, whatever). I haven’t been to the local church though, I just feel like I should study it some more before I go.

im usually reading something and several books at once, but ive alwways been a big time book worm ever since i could read, i have tons of books about many subjects.

i think ive always had a really strong leaning towards artt, i dont remember a time where i wasnt making something or trying a new craft or project. love to sketch,i have so many sketchbooks and i still have some of my childrens books with little drawings all over the pages. painting, sculpting, in the more recent years like.. 4 years now ive gotten into jewelry making. i looove working with metals and silversmithing. i use to write more poetry, and i enjoy playing with words and word salads, but i do have a lot of journals and im usually taking notes of my days, aspects, moon cycles and dreams regularly.

my suns in libra, rising taurus and venus in the 7th conj the desc in scorp also conj pluto. soo that gives me my artistic inclination, that and majority of my family is either artistic or crafty. my mom being a graphic designer w/ my uncle and my other uncle is a tattoo artist. and on my dads side my g-pa use to be a jeweler and was very good at lapidary, my aunts are both very crafty, one being into glass blowing and the other into making all sorts of fun glitsy things and caligraphy. my dad use to weld and he usually gets pretty good in whatever he chooses to do with his hands, hes a virgo. i have a virgo moon and my sun/mars/merc conj is in the 6th house probably making me emphasize the importants of all of mmy hobbies and crafts. i think im good at detail work and my hands.

i should probably start making more active hobbies like yoga or kickboxing... buuuut id prefer to just hang at home after a long days work/school. ehhh

...You sure you were really a gamer? LMAOOO

Anyone who has ever really devoted any significant amounts of time to the hobby can tell you that they're far from mindless and unproductive - especially anyone who has had to sit there and think of strategies to beat bosses in the game in order to advance to the next level; or solve complex puzzles in order to progress...and the huge sense of accomplishment that comes from doing so.

Video games can definitely give your mind a workout as well as your physical reflexes - that is, if you choose the *right* games.

speaking of video games...one time my sister's husband called of work to play fantasy football with his friends.(though I'm sure he told his supervisor something else) wth!? Who does that!

I couldn't contain myself, I said "that is the dumbest excuse I've ever herd of, to not go to work"
