Makes sense.
So in a sense, this opposition (your Sat his IC) has brought you together for 8.5 yrs which is a long period of time.
You know how to make this better: less domination, more democracy (lol); let the guy be himself in his home every now and then. He will love you for this as this is a tender point for him.
It seems like a no brainer here. You have a solid partner in him. No relationship is 100% without problems.
I can see why the other one (#2) is also in your mind (all this Neptunian fantasy is very tempting!).
Let me see your Mercury's in both synastry charts. It's very important to be able to communicate with your partner. I mean, arguments are par for the course but if your Merc's match, you can get through them in tact!

So about the Mercury in the synastries:
#1 synastry: your Merc is part of the stellium that trines his Mars and Jup AND it widely trines his Merc too. Because the trine is so wide I wouldn't count on it but the rest of the synastry to me says that you will be listened to. It's like he has a soft spot for you. He won't want to hurt you so he might often give in and let u have your way.

Now with #2, there's a Merc-Merc opposition! No good, sorry. How are you going to talk to a man you feel is your ideal man when he's not going to listen to you? Your communication manners are completely different. Perhaps this can be an affair, a fling, u know? It could last longer than a fling but I doubt it would make a harmonious marriage.

Above all, it's free will. Yours and theirs. You can make it work for anyone if you BOTH want it really bad.
