After reading Ceridwen's appeal post in Asteroid Astrology and Lonake said that she loves Progressions, I had to look up our natal and progression charts knowing what had happened last night. Pisces and I have been in a relationship for 3 years. He has always showed me through his actions how much he cares for me. However, he never said the "L" word. Yesterday he told me he loves me. I am tucking it away for safe keeping.

His natal Venus 14 Pisces
My Progressed Sun and Mercury 14 Pisces

My natal Moon 4 Cap
His Progressed Mercury 4 Taurus

Here is my question:
My natal Mars 1 Sag
His Progressed Neptune 0 Sag
My natal Jupiter 1 Sag
His Progressed Neptune 0 Sag
Is his P. Neptune making him all dreamy like and he is not understanding his real feelings?

Neptune is slow!! Stick to fast moving planets in progressions.
I love your example. Congratz,btw

Hi hon, Neptune doesn't move very far in the progressed chart, however since it's at 0 Sagittarius, is it natally in Scorpio? The sign switch over would make a difference.
Check out his personal progressed planets and see if they are making new aspects to his Neptune that aren't in the natal, that could easily account for changes. But transits could also account for this, so it really depends on his chart, hard to give a quick answer without seeing all the info.

I had a huge crush on someone, when their progressed Sun was conjunct my Moon/Venus/South Node. Their progressed venus was conjunct my Sun, and they wanted to know me, too. He was the one to keep contacting me.

As soon as his Sun hit my vertex, and I was angry and hurt, and I've written him off. Both of our progressed Moons were in the same sign - his following mine - and once my pr. moon moved away from his progressed ascendant, as well - relationship no more. there were no more connections that i remember.

Wrote about my Near Twin experience in another thread, when we first met/fell in love,
my p.Venus conj his n.Sun/Venus
my p.Sun conj his p.Mars
his p.Venus conj my n.Venus/Moon
his p.Sun conj my n.Sun

There are some couples who continue to have the classic love/attraction combinations from progressed to progressed, or progressed to natal for decades, one combo after another, but for many it is just for a short time. Ideally the love combos would be going both ways, meaning ideally each would have an activated Venus, but really any major conjunction/trine is important. For some reason I haven't noticed the oppositions, they're probably there for some people, but I have seen squares at work (if they're alongside a solid conjunction or trine from each). Sun/Moon/Venus/Mars are the top ones to look for, also important are angles changing in the progressed and another's personal placements/pts on them, for ex. 4 Cancer p.ASC & attracting/being attracted to 4 Cancer/Capricorn people, in general (either their natal or their progressed).

Feels somewhat disheartening charting a friendship/love interest and seeing how it 'started' and when it might end, but people naturally fall apart when their lives no longer naturally connect; to force similarities when you're growing apart is hard to do. They were meant to be together for a certain time. Makes sense that at these times when you meet someone that there'd often be NN conj or squares from one's NN to the other's angles or personal planets in the basic natals, one of the classic signs of a soul mate. Soul mates are meant to be in our lives for a certain time to teach us something we need to know, so maybe their n.Sun would be conj your p.Sun, they'd be 'teaching' you how to be a Taurus, or whatever it may be. Or you may not be getting along with a family member, then you'll have your p.Moon conj their n.ASC and that may be one of the triggers to patch things up with them, and you may be v.close at that time. Relationships are ending and beginning again all the time, they change as often as people do.

Progressions may be one of the reasons why you could have a synastry that looks great on paper, but if they're not 'speaking' to each other from p. to n. or p. to p., then it may be all for nothing. You may see someone that looks all right, but there's just no connection. You could still go through with it, but it may seem 'surface' on some level. But if there's a Mars/Venus in the natals and a Mars/Venus in the progressed, then it may feel OK to dive in. I haven't researched this, but it'd be interesting to see the results.

Yes, the progressions never cease to amaze me.

I recommend Westran`s book "When star collide" to anyone interested in that.
I actually never believed in progressions, especially not the secondary progressions, it all seemed so far fetched to me, UNTIL I read that book and counterchecked it against dozens of charts, and it pretty much never failed me (with the inclusion of the angles).

I even predicted a break-up of a celebrity couple down to the month, just looking at their progressions.
Now most of it probably was being coincidence. lol
But I was still surprised when they ACTUALLY broke up the very month!

(their only "good" progression had been a conjunction of both progressed Venus-positions. His was in direct motion, hers in retograde. Her Venus changed from Aqua to Cappy, his from Cappy to Aqua, and that was where they "met", near to the signswitch, and when they had separated by about 1 degree - which seems to be a "magical" orb in progressions- they separated as well. On top of that their Sun-Mars progression had faded as well. That is something that Westran did not mention but I noticed,t hat usually if a relationship forms, there will be a Venus-progression AND very often a Sun-Mars one. On its own Sun-Mars does not seem to indicate a relationship, but together with Venus-progressions it seems to provide a lot of "push" into the relating direction).

The synastric progressions when I was seeing Jude Law on stage, pretty much floored me.
BUT seeing as it had been a very unlikely thing to ever happen, given the circumstances, it makes sense to me that the progressions were quite extraordinary.

His progressed Venus will conjoin my descendant in several years, around the same time it conjoins his natal Sun/Moon. Maybe we'll be friends again at that point. I can't see it happening now, though.

teasel, Oh no. Your story deflated me. We have been together for 3 years so that is promising. The 'I love you' was a wonderful surprise after never saying it before. I thought perhaps with the Mercury aspect that is why it came out in the open. Then again, it is a trine.

Lonake, his natal Neptune is in Sag 0*. No change there then. There are not any aspects happening with his Prog. Neptune to a p. personal planet.

Lonake and Ceridwen, thank you! You taught me a lot in your replies.

I guess I was very curious to understand why he said those words after such a long time . .

Stellium, I didn't mean to deflate you. I know what it's like to get that "I love you" out of the blue, and to feel so good after hearing it. I had been thinking, "I wonder if he's ever going to tell me he loves me" a day or so before it happened.

There is no guarantee that things are going to go south if your progressions don't match up.

Stellium,

you`re welcome.
And are you sure there are no other progressions at play?

Have you checked progressed to natal and progressed to progressed as well?

Look out for conjunction / trine / opposition between:

Sun-Venus
Venus-Venus
Venus-Mars
Sun-DESC
Venus-ASC
Mars-DESC

plus
Moon to Sun, Venus, Mars, ASC
and of course ASC to ASC as well

EDIT:
I just see you have a Sun-Venus-conjunction in the progressions. apparently THE combination to look out for for committed romantic relationship.

Pluso Venus-Mercury in the progressed: speaking of love.

I think more than natally (unless he has the Neptune-Mars himself, it is related to your synastry. That he sometimes confuses you and seems to be elusive to you. It is common with Mars-Neptune-aspects. Like the Mars-partner cannot really "grasp" Neptune.
On the other hand there is a very intriguing chemistry between Mars and Neptune: erotic fantasies, a weirdly gentle sexual attraction and so on.
"Allure" was the word I was looking for.

Ok so my post is less about synastry and more about personal changes during progressions. I am not so into the syanstry progressions, just haven't looked into them too much. But for the personal stuff, since it does I think tie into the big picture:

I believe in progressions but the outer ones barely move and the axis barely changes. To me progressions show the most results when things are at critical or anaretic degrees (29th or 0 degrees)...its when the whole chart is charged with change and you can feel it. That and the moon, since it changes the most in progressed charts, and makes contacts to natal.
For me, when my progressed moon started to conj my sun, I got engaged and had a new job offer and started to work on my personal business.

So it makes a certain sense.

I would add that solar arc progressions are also REALLY amazing since they move rarely but when they do...WOW!!! All the major activity I had to my natal from solar arc prog was significantly more pronounced than progressions ...
Let's see: death of many close people, old marriage and divorce, relocation (Major one), and significant loss and gain of money, all very noticable. When I checked my solar arcs to natal from those 2 years, it was nonstop activity, followed by minor past that time, which makes sense. In the middle of all of it, by regular progressions as well, my midheaven had shifted into 0 degrees into Pisces which just backs up the whole theory to me that axis changes there are no small thing. It's like a major earthquake, the core of your soul is somehow shifting and it manifests in these charts.

As a side note: I am not discounting regular progressions at all, I just happen to see the solar arc ones as more outer and external in nature than the regular ones since those regular progressions are often to me more focused on internal changes since you have to live for a long time with them and it marks more of an internal change which doesn't always become expressed in distinct 'pinpointed' kinda way).

I think if in synastry terms, planets are involved, it will last a while most of the time since they move so slowly in prog. But probably become highlighted during critical degrees. The one example I can think of is my own progressed Venus smack on my fiance's natal NN, my prog Merc (his SN ruler) on his natal 7th house. If the degrees are 0 or 29, and linked in through synastry then, hell yeah, you will see something. To me, it's like the planet is shedding snake skin or all new pink flesh sensitive to everything (I realize I am mixing my metaphors but you get my gist, hopefully).

Hope that makes sense and apologies for the ramble lol

If you go on Astro.com add pull up the extended chart and drop down to natal, the 'progressions and solar arcs combined' option, then pull up the separate page chart, it will show you all of it, so I guess they are all easy to read since they can be read all at once. They're only going to show the most exact aspects on there (looks like astro.com is only showing stuff which is 0-1 degrees aspecting).

If you look, you'll find that regular progressions move the most slowly. Solar arc will more a little more quickly.

MVM,

very interesting post. I hated to have to wait for being able to answer to it. lol

"I believe in progressions but the outer ones barely move and the axis barely changes. "
Yes, exactly. For synastry I think though that there are two occasions, when it might be more significant:
1. a natal wide aspect comes into close orb
2. a progressing personal planet makes a new aspect.

I still pay more attention to the progressions of the personal planets and ASC though.

"To me progressions show the most results when things are at critical or anaretic degrees (29th or 0 degrees)...its when the whole chart is charged with change and you can feel it. "
I agree. The change is VERY noteable most of the times.
When my Sun progressed into Aquarius it was such a different feeling and being!
Interestingly my progressed chart has pretty much Aquarius energy, Sun at the beginning of Aquarius, and a Mercury-Venus-conjunction on 22 Aquarius.

"That and the moon, since it changes the most in progressed charts, and makes contacts to natal. "
Yes, progressed Moon is often a good timer.

"I would add that solar arc progressions are also REALLY amazing since they move rarely but when they do...WOW!!! "
I agree. Before reading Westran`s book, I ONLY bought into solar arcs, and I still am amazed, and rely on them for rectification for the natal.

"As a side note: I am not discounting regular progressions at all, I just happen to see the solar arc ones as more outer and external in nature"
Yes, I also found that the solar arcs often coincide with "events", that easy to verify.

"I think if in synastry terms, planets are involved, it will last a while most of the time since they move so slowly in prog."
The duration depends though. Some are relatively quick, some are pretty eternal. But I am mainly talking about Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and ASC here.

" But probably become highlighted during critical degrees. "
I agree, but I also think that they are in effect when they are in one degree orb of another`s planet, progressed or natal.
For natal progressions I seem to "feel" them more, if they are aspecting natal planets, maybe cause it is usually of shorter duration.
Well, I`ve been living with that progressed Mercury-Venus conjunction for the last 5 or 6 years I think, and they will only separate, when Mercury turns retograde in a while. (I am curious to see what that will be like, seeing that Mercury rules my DESC and I have Karma and SN in 7th house anyway).

But when they both passed my natal Moon, it was very distinct, though I must add, on an internal emotional level more than an external one. There were some events happening as well, but I think the internal development was what stood out.

"hell yeah, you will see something."
You also will see something if they are within one degree applying. Though since progressions are more related to internal, it might be just a change in feeling; it does not ALWAYS relate to starting a relationship.

Though the other way round it seems to be, that usually IF a relationship forms, there will be a strong progression of Venus - Sun, Venus-Venus, Venus-Mars, Sun-DESC, Venus-ASC or even Mars-DESC or ASC-DESC.

It doesn`t mean though that everytime we have such a progression with someone a relationship will form. It becomes just more of a likelihood, as during these times when these progressions are missing.

I like what Paul Westran Wrote, that is is a "window of opportunity". If we take that opportunity, if we really act on how we feel, is probably dependent on other things as well.

But I found it intriguing how these progressions are present at the outset of most relationships and often the relationships break apart, if they have faded and not being replaced by other positive ones.

Of course this it not a "100% rule", as these seem to not e xist.
But from my own research I have never seen it fail. Of course I do not know the whole world population though.

On my own experience with Solar arc and progressions:

When SA ASC was conjunct my natal Venus, I was being quite social, at least compared to my past; pretty often to social events, going out a lot (totally against my type), striking up new friendships (that did not last long though), and experience quite a bit of positive male attention.

When pr ASC was conjunct my Venus last year, it was more an internal procession of my selfperception of myself "as a woman".
It was triggered by an event though, a chance meeting with a guy. (at that time my pr Psyche was conjunct his natal Eros exact; and his pr Venus was trine my Uranus exact, and my pr Venus and pr Mercury was trine his Pluto exact).

To all: I enjoy reading your writing!

Ceridwen, that is so interesting you brought up the Mars/Neptune aspect. It is our tightest synastry aspect (0*12), and I am Mars. Btw, he does not have Neptune-Mars natally.

Maybe that is why I am questioning the I love you. I do find him hard to grasp. At times his feelings are spot on (I get him 110%)while on other occasions he confuses me. The whole intriquing chemistry is definitely apparent.

Prog. Chart to Prog. Chart
Me Venus 3 Aquarius Him DESC 7 Aquarius
orb. a little too wide

Me ASC 1 Leo Him ASC 7 Leo
big orb.

My Natal to His P.
Moon 4 Capricorn Venus 6 Taurus
Venus 17 Sag Sun 18 Aries
Sun 4 Aquarius DESC 7 Aquarius

His Natal to My P.
Venus 14 Pisces Sun 15 Pisces
Venus 14 Pisces Moon 16 Cancer

So, that is what I found when looking at all the charts.

Wow.. this almost can't be a coincidence;

I met my ex-pisces (it lasted 17/18/19/20 months) when his:
PROGRESSED Sun was at 20'36 ARIES while my PROGRESSED Moon was at 20'31 ARIES.
(so very close applying..)

I'm a bit flabbergasted now..

And an interesting thing is we (narrowly) survived this aspect also vice versa when HIS Virgo-Moon passed MY Virgo-Sun/Venus..

But after that it was REALLY over!

Let's see what else we had when we MET;

My progressed Venus at that time:
17'24 Virgo
His natal Sun:
17'06 Pisces
(so an opposition which is already separating)

That's it.

Hm.. the short-lived Moon

Hm.. I read on cafeastrology that you can use solstice points for progressions.

Experiences with that?

Auw.. not that I want but I almost believe we come back together within a few years if I use them!

On cafeastrology;

7. Are solstice points done only on natal planets or can they be done on progressed planets as well? If they can, do we compare progressed solstice point charts of two people or progressed solstice point chart of one to progressed or natal of the other?

answer:

7. Yes, you can determine solstice points on a progressed chart, and they can be compared, either progressed to progressed or progressed to natal.

solstice points are awesome

(though they are kinda "subtle", like a magnetism that leaves you completely confused, as you donīt know exactly why the magnetism is even there to begin with.
Solstice points connect points with very different sign backgrounds, for example Cappy and Sag or Pisces and Aries, Scorpio and Aquarius and so on.)

Ceridwen, will you elaborate more on the critical degree. You mean changes you feel when a certain planet is turning from 29 to 0 degree in the next sign?

I have my progressed mars now at 0 degree scopio. What does it mean? Err, I am probably not the best observer of things around me with so many things happening it is hard to say which contributes to which. .

It was actually MVM, who brought up the critical degree.
But yes, basically if a planet changes signs, there will be a pretty pronounced change in issues surrounding this planet or object or angle.

Mars going into Scorpio might mean that there is a reduced willingness for diplomacy, but at the same time a need for probing and delving into the depth. Very focused and intense.

I'm just going to say it: I'm incredibly happy to see a conversation about the value of Progressions.

I'm clairsentient, and one of the most amazing tools at my disposal to understanding someone's life (how it unfolded prior to our meeting), and how it will unfold later - is simply scanning the ephemeris. A lot can be learned by using the day-for-year method, and checking when the planets progress. Knowing the house placements of the natal planets creates an even further understanding of what will be.

Sun progressions are intense, and probably the easiest to predict and WOW your friends and neighbors with. The Moon is an incredible predictor, as are all personal planets. Sometimes, though, knowing is a burden.

I'll have to check out this book you've recommended Ceridwen - I've been wanting a good read about Progressions.

Thanks everyone!

And Stellium H6 - He probably has his reasons for reluctancy to admit his feelings - I'm very glad for you that you finally heard those words. Anyone who takes that kind of time surely must mean it. Venus/Moon in a Water Planet?

You've obviously got a powerful punch going in the house of service to others (traditionally ruled by Mercury) - maybe, after waiting so long anyways, it's only natural for you to pick this apart and question the validity of it. Love is a gift - enjoy it as long as you have it.

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.
~ Epicurus

Much love,
Wild Places
