Astrology does not mean jack. You can be a good astrologer or a bad astrologer... just like you can be a good or bad doctor, gardner, pilot - *insert occupation*.
Interpretations that paint things in very black and white terms and don't really get to the heart of the matter - will never tell you the real *story* behind someone's personality or intelligence level/type. For instance - very often when you read a Capricorn Moon interpretation - they will say something like.. "You have a cold mother who is only interested in her career. Your childhood was lonely and you are now an over-achiever because that is the only thing your parents appreciate about you." This is BS and does not apply to me at all ^
I find it very cook-book... much like newspaper horoscopes. A long while ago I started a thread about Cap Moon ... and a poster (Tim - who is also an astrologer) pointed out that Saturn/Pluto were both connected to death in traditional astrology - and that Capricorn Moon can actually point to a feeling of *duty* towards people who have died.
I found this truly enlightening because -this- does apply to me 100%. Basically - my point is... Astrology is not BS... but astrological interpretations coming from different astrologers can at times be ridiculous.. exaggerated... not very informative and so on... It happens!
It's no reason to quit astrology all together or to quit this site. I appreciate your posts and I hope you change your mind! IP: Logged |

Betty: Thank you for voicing the purpose behind this thread. Hopefully the message got through to anyone who calls someone stupid based on Mercury sign placement. I always enjoy your insightful posts, and apparently many do. I can't stop believing in astrology because it's supposedly bad karma. >.< Regardes: Yeah, that's certainly more PC and accurate than pronouncing Mercury to be in "fall" or "detriment." I suppose traditional astrology had its reasons though, it just sounds negative. And I agree about it indicating potential - what energies are at play. Doomm: Sorry for flying off the handle at ya! Thanks for posting your result. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the test; I didn't want to use one that is more linguistics-based because English is not everyone's primary language. I would have liked more time as there were 3 or so that I made a slightly rushed decision on. I don't mind those sorts of tests because unlike exams they don't require you to necessarily learn anything and just work things out.------------------
