Betty Boop posted this on another thread, and I was quite impressed by it…

“From my own personal experience with the NN - I think it is sooooooooooooo extremely important. It can make or break your life. It can mean happiness or pain. People put so much emphasis on the planets and the rest of the chart - but the NN/SN axis is very significant! It's almost like the playground where everything else happens.

The good thing about it is -- The NN is always something you are *open* to.. It's always something that you will find a path towards.. There will be many opportunities in your life for you to learn to be more Aries-like (more confident & assertive and less concerned about what others think of you) . It's true that it is not *easy* for anyone to incorporate their North Node traits (Mine is Taurus btw).. It does not come 'naturally'... BUT... it's not impossible either. It's something you are *able* to do. It's a test you are *able* to pass and it's a test that (at least in my experience) - life/fate & experiences you have - will help you - pass.

Most people I know in their 40s/50s (sometimes 60s) - are a lot more like their NN sign (even when they have no planets in that sign). It's very interesting.
Something will always happen - whether earlier or later in life to give you the ultimate push towards your NN. There will always be an extended hand that says "come this way" (whether it is coming from an actual person or an opportunity of some sort) - but it's up to you whether you take the plunge and go for it.”

Very insightful!

I’ve always felt that the North Node represents our own personal imbalance… early in life, at least, we tend to lean too much towards our North Node sign/house position, we tend to be lop-sided…. Stuck in the habits of our South Node, which feels safe and familiar… while the North Node seems like unexplored territory to us…. It’s a challenge to embrace the North Node because usually we don’t feel very competent in that area….coming to terms with the North Node can be scary, kind or like a kid’s first day at a new school…. At first we may stumble around somewhat foolishly before we start to get the hang of it…. However, the North Node is ultimately extremely rewarding as it brings balance to our lives (decreases our over reliance on the South Node), and helps us to get out of ruts…. People with conjunctions to the North Node are often people that we greatly admire…and they are usually able to somehow offer what us we needed to learn or know…

As for myself, I have the North Node in Libra and South Node in Aries. Although I’m not aggressive like an Aries (Venus in the 1st house), I’ve always felt that I’ve got too much of a tendency to go my own way, do my own thing, and not ask for help unless I’m forced to… I hate imposing on others, and having company does not come naturally. I‘m often feeling a little awkward in the social department… as if I don‘t know the script, and am not sure what move to make next, or what is appropriate ’relationship behavior’ … usually it takes me a long time to cultivate relationships.

On one hand I love having lots of alone time and very much enjoy my own company…. But on the other, l crave love and affection and sometimes wish I were naturally more 'social'…. Also relationships require a type of patience that is not easy for me…and Libran patience is not the same as Capricorn’s realistic practically minded patience (my Sun is in Capricorn)…. for example, if I were to go shopping I’d rather go alone then with a friend…. Because when you go alone you can go into the shops that you like when you feel like it… but when you go with a friend, sometimes you have to tag along with their preferences…go into shops you have no interest in, and wait around till their done making decisions ect. Generally, my Aries South Node doesn’t have the patience for this type of thing…. I’d rather just do my thing and move on….. Libran patience requires that you sacrifice your energy and time for the sake of another’s company… this is perhaps the biggest part of my struggle….and yet… I still do crave that Libran energy of togetherness, warmth and open dialogue…. And know that I need more of this in my life….

How about the rest of you? Do you crave your North Node energy? And if so please explain…

My NN in Cap in H11 (no planets in Cap)

Im 39.. Im feel that I am just barely starting to come into my NN..

True there has been certain things that has directed me towards this..

1. A long time friend her Mars conjuncts my NN exactly... I have known her for a very long time, but lost contact with her for a few years... We reconnected and became like best friends now...
Ive always wanted to be more "girly" and she has been helping me with that.. She is very girly.. Before I didnt like that, but now I admire it.. She's teaching me, so to speak..

2. My progressed moon recently went into Cap. I felt the change very differently, a whole new out look on who I should be has changed.

3. Ive been working on using more logic verses feelings... When you know the outcome is not good, why go on with it... A few years ago, I would have said.. For the experience.
Now I say..... Its best not to tread down that road...

Believe it or not, this whole thing with Pisces has also sent me in this direction...

But first I had to clear out my emotions and get a grip, then I had to deal and accept... Then I had to use logic to come to a conclusion... Let me tell you this has been one heck of an internal battle...

Im not sure how to explain how much I have changed in the last 2 years... Everything about me is totally different...

Ooops! Just realized I made a mistake in my original post… I have North Node in Libra and South Node in Aries! Accidentally put North Node in Aries originally (now it’s edited out). So if you read the post earlier on, please note the correction.

Oh, yes, great topic, i absolutely agree that the Nodes are very important.
I have South Node in Virgo in the 1st/ North Node in pisces in the 7th. More than a year ago a made huge decision to switch to my North Node path so to say, instead of getting deeper on the South Node one as it did not felt good anymore.

What is interesting in my case is, that during my childhood I was doing more my North Node (especially the Pisces part of it), because i was swimming competitively, but then I chose to develop my Virgo qualities by focusing on academic studies. I must say that now, a few years later, i kinda regret this decision, although it's true that I've met with several very important person on this road, so who knows, maybe it had to be that way.

But these days i try my best to focus on my North Node and also its position in the 7th house, whihc is not easy, as I've always been a loner, but im improving, so there's certainly a hope
Following my North Node is also crucial from a career point of view, cause the ruler of MC is exactly conjunct my NN.

I guess my chart is an interesting case, as I have a Stellium in Sagittarius, including Sun, ASC, Mercury, Mars (and Neptune), AND my NN is there as well!
So unlike in other charts I already have many qualities of my NN sign.
YET I still find the NN very important in synastry, and I am still drawn to people with Sag planets.
I am not drawn to Gemini people at all though. As a matter of fact they sometimes even annoy me. (but it depends what is there else int he chart; I seem to not going along too well with people who have a mix of Gemini and Taurus; Gemini and Cancer is also challenging, though not necessarily annoying).

Its becoming increasingly true of me, but I'm not there yet!

My North Node is in Cancer in 4th House Cusp while my South Node is my Capricorn Sun in the 10th House.

Here is the description I found:

No longer living for your career. Becoming less driven. Becoming less concerned with your outer public identity. Letting your guard down at home. Less caught up in your reputation. Spending more time with your family. Nourishing the private you. Getting in touch with your private emotions. Less concern with worldly power. No longer needing to be seen as being in control. Admitting that you have feelings and emotional needs. Resolving your emotions concerning family members. Getting to know your family at an intimate level. Developing fondness for your roots and heritage. Creating a nest. Showing your family that you care. Tracing your ancestry. Sharing your memories- the joyful and the painful. Realizing that outer achievement probably won’t bring emotional fulfillment. Letting the workaholic rest. Letting go of ruthlessness and developing receptivity. Letting the CEO have a private life. Letting the world take care of itself. Spending more time taking care of the people close to you. Letting your knowledge of the cold, hard outer world make the sanctity of your inner circle that much sweeter. Letting go of the need for an established career and the recognition and status that go along with it. Accepting your inner shyness. Getting to know your maternal lineage. Getting to know your inner patriot.

Hm,my NN node is in H5,Pisces...
And my Sun is in H11.
While I am all about creating, pushing new boundaries,I feel my Sun doesn't help me ditching that damn SN. Very conflicting.

Oh yeah, that original post by Betty Boop was really something else! Just excellent.

I have a NN Cancer 3rd House, and SN Cap in 9th House. Boy, oh boy... I have been solidly immersed in my SN for a long, long time. Way too long. Never even bothered with the NN. Now, when t.Pluto decided to park its little tuckus right on my SN, the you-know-what hit the fan. t.Pluto has been there for several years now.

It's such a strange mix. It's as if I can feel Pluto pulling up my NN, and forcing me to do it through the SN. If that makes any sense. Weird, strange memories and encounters from the past keep coming up. Right now, I'm in school, and it hit me strong the other day that I'm back to my 20's! I'm a college "kid" again--at age 47! Maybe that the whole 9th House, and Pluto = transformation. I'm switching careers, that sort of thing.

On the other hand, it's as if I didn't do it right in college, and now I have to do it all over again. In this lifetime, that is. Now as a hobby, I'm focusing on writing, something astrologers have been telling me to do since I first went to one. That's the NN thing coming through.

So, it has been interesting, trying to find a way to deal with the NN while living the SN, too.

I am 28 years old married to a gemini rising who is a Libra Sun sooooooo even though I am only 28 years old this relationship more than any other relationship in my life has forced me to incorporate my NN in gemini in the 7th more and more each year that passes by like it or not LOL..

Interesting thread. I want to use my parents as an example too.

Growing up I felt my dad didnt stand up to mom enough in order to avoid conflict. My sun square neptune I feel represents this. I just checked out my dad's chart and he has NN in aries. I have noticed that in last years my dad and his dynamic with my mom has finally reached that balance that I always wanted them to have with each other. He is now assertive with her and I don't see mom as dominating the relationship, I see that things are more balanced between them now. He is still the type to not like conflict bc of his mars in libra but he is definitely very confident and assertive these days!! yayyyyy (:.

As for my mom she has NN in pisces....When I was little she was extremely perfectionistic and turned me into her assistant which I resisted more and more and that quickly become a non issue around the age of 10 years of age as I started been assertive and not helping with everything she asked me to. I digress. My mom was really perfectionistic and she still is but nothing like during my childhood. She has always been anxious, very south node in virgo. Now lately she is more relaxed, has less of a need to control everything and is more spiritual and less religious. I can definitely see she is coming into her Northnode. Is quite beautiful to witness your own parents undergoing this transformation!!!!!!!!!!!

NN/Venus conjunct in 5th house/Taurus opposite Saturn in 11th/Scorpio. It's a power struggle because I've got strong Taurus and Scorpio energy in my chart. Pluto in Scorpio/Venus in Taurus. Venus has a couple of challenging aspects while Pluto makes tight harmonious aspects. Pluto/Scorpio is easier for me. With the Venus-Saturn opposition, I feel like I express Saturn more easily. I'm hoping after my Saturn return I figure out how to express/balance out the Venus side of that opposition. Perhaps I'll meet someone who will propel me towards my NN purpose.

Oooh! That happened to me! Yes! Turned out to be someone from my deep, far past. Their Mars cojuncts my NN. Suddenly, things started to change. Even though we met only briefly.

I have pisces north node in the 5th house. As far as aspects all it does is oppose my Juno and square my sun (both out of sign).

I'll say this: I verrrrry much want to have "fun" with the "unknown". I'll leave that open ended.

This i a good thread because it's very true that your north node is pretty much the end-all be-all to the happiness in your life. I think it's because of my moon being conjunct my south node lmao, but most people in my life, especially my MOTHER yep, push me towards my south node. I have NN in the 4th/5th house cusp in aquarius. So I have to lose the need to be cneter of attention and making everything more dramatic than it is (leo) and the tendency to focus on career, fame, and practicality and ignore my feelings and loved ones (4th) plus the tendency to feel bad about standing out and letting my personality shine because then i wouldnt feel i would be equal to everyone else and it wouldnt be "fair" (5th house).

Most people try to push me to become famous beause of my singing talent. But i feel that is not the right path for me at all. I feel that being famous and busy would not allow me to focus on my family and my emotions in this life time, which is the concern of the 4th house. And also it wouldnt help get away from my leo south node. The only thing it would help with is probably the 5th house, but i could "express my personality and not be afraid to stand out" in my life in general without it having to be about singing. I feel that i've been following my aqua north node pretty well.

Are you sure is not your sun in capricorn? because even if aries is very independent i wonder if it rather go with somebody and try to push his/her agenda in the shopping mall? i ask because i experience the same you are describing when shopping. i dont like to shop with anybody so as to decide where to stop. i like to go to coffe shops with somebody and chat, but many times i dont like social gatherings. my saturn in aries in 12? but my north node is in aries, and yes, i crave assertiveness, but should not come naturally to me social gatherings? if there is something i get annoyed is about group gathering. i prefer one to one meetings than group things. i see many things of my south node libra (trying to make other feel good about themselves, love of beauty, need for armonic environments) but social? not always...beh, but i dont crave to be more social, i avoid being social because i just dont see the point on it. it does not fulfill my needs.

probably is the aries node calling?

Some sagittarians are my favourite people in this world, and I do feel good when I'm getting out of my head (Moon/Venus in Gemini conjunct South Node) and into the world and direct experiences/hands-on experiences. Their brightness and humour can be grounding.
