Per CafeAstrology.com, "Chiron is symbolized by the "wounded healer". It represents our deepest wound, and our efforts to heal the wound. Chiron was named after the centaur in Greek mythology who was a healer and teacher who, ironically, could not heal himself."

I'm curious as to whether or not all of you feel Chiron potently in your personalities. Some astrologers place great importance on its placing, while other deem it trivial and only minor.

I tend to think Chiron is especially important in everyone's chart. We all have our wounds. As much as we may like to think we've evaded this "elusive" wound, the fact of the matter is, there is that one place (typically held secretly) that we feel enormous insecurity -depending on Chiron's house/sign/aspects- and we may wallow in self-pity for an eternity or take enormous pains to rectify the issue within ourselves.

I for one, have Chiron in Leo in the 10th House. I feel, and have always felt, this energy EXTREMELY potently. I have recollections dating back to 4 years of age when I was insecure with creativity and commanding center stage... but it never really sat well with me that I was. I remember compensating and pushing myself out to the forefront, being as creative as possible, and exhibiting all of my true colors - regardless of the criticism I so feared. To this day, it's a wound that feels like a punch in the stomach anytime I'm preempted to stand before a large group of people and "perform". I willingly stick my neck out to conquer my fears. As a child, I was a student of Classical Music and have a ton of performing background. I have always loved being on stage - after all, I believe my Chiron in Leo just wants to be adored and affirmed. In the 10th House, this is on stage and in public. I have HUGE perfectionistic tendencies and have always been a compulsive Overachiever. Straight As, class valedictorian, prodigal son, etc. I never feel "good enough", but I have managed over the years to be content in being "proud of myself". I feel as though my wounds have been healed for the most part. I do indeed have many Leo overtones to my personality, though this is my only Leo placement.

I've noticed that while Chiron makes the native insecure, those who observe the native actually feel the opposite. For example, I know someone with Chiron in the 1st who seems very powerful and driven, but inside feels inadequate and like she has no sense of who she is. Another person has Chiron in the 11th and has friends in excess (social butterfly) but feels insecure and as though she may not fit in or be popular enough. I'm always told how "confident" and "Type-A" I seem, but on the inside, I'm always fearful that I don't come across in those exact ways.

What about you guys? Where is your Chiron and how does it play out?! Do tell!

I have Chiron tightly conjunct Ceres and my Sun in the 6th house, widely conjunct Mercury, and opposed Uranus.

Wounding to my self-esteem and PTSD occurred around the age of five. Several things happening during the same period of time, and in the years to come (including bullying, later on), had me extremely social phobic and then agoraphobic; before that, I'd been extremely social and laid-back/confident. Nobody would have predicted I would be so messed up. Had I got therapy, I might have been okay - I see that now. When I was researching it, people with SA said that regular therapy didn't help.

I have also been regularly sick since around the age of four/five. I used to get raging fevers (dangerous fevers), had tonsillitis four times per year, like clockwork, until my teen years. I've had problems with fatigue for years now, and match the symptoms for CFS. For the past two years, I've had trouble keeping food down, and liquids, most of the time. I had problems in the late 90's/early 2000's that had people wondering if I had ulcers.

Basically, I'm a mess. Something gets fixed, and something else turns up.

I've also been very interested in human and animal health care, for years now.

I'll edit later.

H9. I am provoked by social injustice, and national/religious prejudges, traditionalistic views, but hurt by the fact I belong to society that basks in such conditions, glorifying itself.

I am citizen of the world, and I couldn't care less for that sort of philistine notions, yet I love to break people who care.

Also,I easily understand sentiments of an underdog, people who are tormented by their own people, and country.

I like for people whom I care about to feel safe with me: I like to be a safe place, a comforting place, a healing place for people to go to. I have the same... I feel the same... Relationships have always been a struggle.

This is me too.
I have Chiron in the 10th in Gemini.
I've always had a hyperactive mind, and the worst is that i wasnt even aware of it. It seemed so natural until i had a complete break down 2 years ago. Since then, i try to balance it and pay attention not to overdo, but its not easy.

This thread has got me down! My heart goes out to all of you in your various troubles. And sicknesses and bad memories.

(((Hug)))

I'm just happy we have this forum where it's easier to talk about things

I've got Chiron in Aries in the 9th or 10th house, depending on what kind of chart I make. Reading about it makes me pretty sad...I'm clicking on link after link here....

Hmm just found out Ben Affleck also has Chiron in Aries...misery likes THAT kind of company.

Seriously though, this is really difficult for me to read about, maybe because it's hitting my raw nerves.

Bob Marks: "Aries is the sign of selfhood and with Chiron here the sense of self may be weakened. Melanie Reinhart in Chiron and the Healing Journey says that sometimes the person feels as if they don't exist and have to take their sense of identity from others."

Yes.

I have Chiron in house 4, yet I have (mostly) happy memories of my home and childhood. Wasn't perfect. My Dad and I didn't/don't get along great. But it's by far better than many, and I don't think I'm psychologically scarred from it (not too much, anyway, ).

the dependency and too much given in support to others is scary.

quote:
Chiron in the 8th house: What a great sex therapist you can be. A more likely scenario is that you have the ability to bring out the sexual best in a romantic partner, while giving yourself the short end of the stick (no pun intended). But the 8th house rules more than sex. You could also get stuck with taking care of partnership resources because "you're so good at it," or, conversely, keep getting partners who want to "take care" of it and do you out of your fair share. Perhaps you become too dependent on money from others for support, or too much of what you earn goes to support others. You might tend to accept other people's values (your family, group or society) too readily. One other thing. The myth of Chiron can actually come alive with this placement. You could have a talent for healing or rehabilitating others, but not yourself.

i know i have no air nd shiet but there are tons of less articulate folks than me out there. so i dun feel this one so much..

quote:
Chiron in Gemini: Gemini is communications. Those with Chiron here may talk compulsively, or, on the other hand, seldom speak. Both were, most likely, never listened to as children. The only difference is one keeps trying while the other gave up. This sounds something like Chiron in the third house, and, of course, there are similarities. Remember though, that the sign position shows how something acts while the house position shows where in your life it will manifest. Let's take a look at an example. Suppose you have two horoscopes in front of you. One has Chiron in Taurus in the 3rd house. The other has Chiron in Gemini in the 2nd house. Yes, there are similarities. You could say that both will spend a lot of time talking about money, possessions, and values. Both could be quite good at giving financial advice. What's the difference? The one with the Taurus Chiron in the 3rd house will tend to talk in a slower, methodical, and more practical way because that's how Taurus influences function. They would also tend to give financial advice that is conservative and rock solid. The person with Chiron in Gemini in the 2nd house, by contrast, could just as easily talk about trivial financial matters. Or they may constantly shift from one financial topic to another. They would be more likely to give financial advice that is based on the latest up to date information (or the latest fad). It is always good to keep in mind the difference between where a planet works and how.

I've felt that way, due to the anxiety I mentioned. A friend of mine from another site (a sometime friend, anyhow), told me last April that I sounded so lonely, and that's how I felt. I can see how I've had problems from others, but I can also see how I've contributed to them at times, because of the anxiety.

It also reminds me of that Kate Winslet movie, in which she's told that she should be the leading lady in her own life, and that she seems to be playing the sidekick instead. That's me all over, unless I really get PO'd and demanding (not something I like to be), or when I finally just relax and am able to actually make some progress (preferable to the previous example).

Hi Teasel,

Is your Chiron in Aries too?

I still LOVE that Katie Herzig song you posted on the NN music thread. Listening to it makes me so happy! <3 I never would've guessed you are anxious.

I can tell you that I strongly empathize with your anxiety and the bullying you went through. And don't want to ask what happened to you at age 5 because this is a public forum but it makes my heart ache to think of children in distress!

Wishing you a life of love and comfort, to compensate!!!

One more random comment about Chiron/Aries: I have this weird lack of preferences about things. No one can understand it. I feel like I could live in any kind of house from a mud hut to a palace and be equally comfortable. I could wear just about anything and be okay with it, I can hang out with anyone. I walk through Ikea and I'm like, "Yeah, it's ALL good."

So maybe that's why I ride in the passenger seat so often, other people have stronger preferences about things than I do.

Hmmm.....don't know for sure, though.

I do have strong opinions about some matters, just not material life so much.

My Chiron in my my 1st House. Its extremely painful and supremely depressing. I'm not going to repeat everything, but a flavor about my childhood is found here.

I was raped at 10 years old. But even that wasn't the most traumatic thing that happenned.

Hm. I'm remembering back to your other post about Uranus being in your 7th...

My husband had an awful childhood, too, with myriad types of abuse - and he, too, has a 1st House Chiron (conj Asc) and 7th House Uranus.

I wonder how solid that pattern is.

I have a 7th House Chiron conj. my Taurean Venus - and Eros, actually.

I can't say that my relationships have been all that bad, though. In my past, I didn't have a huge amount of (overt) anxiety regarding relationships...for the most part, perhaps, because I didn't actively seek them out for a large part of my early life.

Interesting point: My best intimate relationship has been with a man whose nChiron conjuncts (a bit loosely) my nVenus/Chiron/Eros conj.

The key is moving on and making the most of one's life after that miserable childhood.

The past should be left in the past, and re-visited only to learn lessons that would benefit the future.

To clarify, I was referring to the 1st House Chiron/7th House Uranus pattern.

(Sorry if this is a bit disjointed - I'm hopping on during a slow time at work.)

The funny thing is that, as an adult, I'm never happy with myself. Regardless of what I do and what I accomplish, its never good enough. A lot of it has to do with falling short of my parents' expectations as a kid. I still have physical scars to show even though I'm close to 50 years old. Those will never go away.

That coincides quite a bit with my husband's patterns, though he didn't fall short of his parents' expectations. They seemed to have no expectations of him. His intelligence and natural curiosity found derision - perhaps even contributed to his father's treatment of him. Edited to add: Perhaps his mother's, too, come to think of it. My husband's native intelligence mirrors that of his maternal grandfather (an inorganic chem professor at a major research university), and she and her father had what may be most charitably described as a "rocky" relationship. Edited again to add: I may take some of this post out later in deference to privacy.
His drive seems to be primarily internal, and he can seldom live up to his own (incredibly lofty) expectations for himself.
He's such a great man, though - I've been working on getting that through

re: slow times: I'm currently working in tech support, so I'm either "on" or not.
Today's been a very "not" day.

My sister has Chiron in the 1st, but she wasn't abused. My aunt thought she had been, though, and decided to just announce it to her and others. She's very pretty, but never seems to be entirely happy with her appearance. She's very conscious of her appearance. She also self-diagnosed herself with selective mutism, as a teenager.

I flip-flop with that, and I have the conjunction with my Ceres and Sun. Sometimes I feel just fine - and I was born feeling just fine (a very happy little kid).

Please don't quote this; I'll edit it out later, because I don't know if she would want me talking about certain things.
