So I had this discussion with my friend on FB and from just good natured leg-pulling, it morphed into this analysis.

I love piercings, I do. I have both ear lobes pierced as also my left nostril and I might get a labret in the future.

I have Venus in Libra in the 2nd house and both the sign and the placement give no clue to why this is so. I mean, shouldn't I be liking clean-cut, well-dressed, classy men with a stable job instead of underground metalheads and punks?

The picture changes drastically when I look at my Venus aspects.

I have a square to Neptune, indicating disillusionment with the normal romantic fairytale love story and a twist on the classic "knight", a semi-sextile to Pluto which attracts me to the dark, the edgy, the outcasts, the others, that makes me move away from rigorous social norms and look for something beyond the shallowness of social acceptance and a semi-square to Uranus that makes me push for self-expression.

And what are tattoos and piercings but a very personal form of self expression?

So LL folks, what are your views on this and more importantly, why?

i wear none right now but i've had 5 holes in my ear since 7th grade..

i like nose piercings on the right girl but i dunno about the others. all my partners have had no tattoos and only ears pierced tho.

hmm.. maybe i should get something pierced LOL!

i have aspects from my venus to those planets you mentioned too and i'm a venus in taurus.

i also have 2 tattoos. a red roman numeral 7 on my right index finger and bull skull tattoo on my right shoulder. i felt i owed it to my generation to get one LOL! just kidding! but they make sense to me fashion wise coz the less clothes/ accessories and the more casual people get the need for self expression and individuality is still there. sometimes i forget to wear a watch but a tattoo stays on you hehe!

I have Venus conjunct Neptune. I will tell you a piercing story that I think is related to that.

Once in high school, my boyfriend and I were walking down the street. We ran into a female friend of his who was flirting big time, and I was crazy jealous...how could my knight in shining armor do THAT? (Venus conjunct Neptune, as I said )

So I mosied into the piercing place that was conveniently right there and got my one ear pierced again. Physical pain to detract from my emotional pain.

Never told him about it until years later. Then he was impressed because he was a Virgo and liked the fact that I reacted strongly but without any apparent drama.

i love piercings, i just took two of mine out so now i only have ears, belly, and septum but i had double earlobes and tragus, and i've previously had two ear cartilages done and a bottom lip ring.

i always say to people who go: "did that hurt?" YES. piercings hurt and tattoos hurt, that's kinda the nature of them. They hurt for a short while and then you're left with this beautiful thing in/on you forever (or for as long as you want it in, in the case of piercings) Get over the fact that it's going to hurt, accept it, move on and then you're fine.

People pile on the makeup, wax places that aren't ordinarily supposed to be waxed, wear false eyelashes, wear shoes that knowingly ruin their feet, wear more weight in bra padding then their actual breasts weight, and cause permanent damage to their skin by fake tanning, but noooo YOU'RE the weird one for being willingly to endue pain for a specific small amount of time in order to turn your body into a piece of art. sorry but that's my rant and i'm sticking to it!

Even when I was younger, I always knew that I wanted piercings and tattoos. my parents should've known I was going to be trouble. hahaha

Venus in Pisces conjunct Ascendant.

YAY (lol)
I have venus libra in the 7H that inconjuncts my sun and semisquares my mars. I do love simple, classy, and elegant fashion. As far as piercings I have them in my ears lobes but I hardly wear earrings. My mom made me pierce them when I was young so if it wasn't for her I probably would have it. I do however want a tattoo in the future, but something small and pretty :]

I do have sun/mars/pluto conjunction 8h but I think my venus is stronger when it comes to what attracts me and my sense of style.

Nose piercing is so cute yet with statement, but it is not for me.
I have pierced ears... enough.

Despise orange people. Can't believe they do such a thing to their skin!

But,tattoos are brilliant,if discreet,well-drawn.

(this is Libra Asc rant,I think)

Just one--my left earlobe. But I wear some really wild earrings.

Peircings mean nothing more to me than a fashion trend. I can easily slip into it and out of it. The big gages I think are stupid to have because they can break and you can seriously damage your ear. Bu the fake ones are cool. I'm a venus square neptune myself and I can relate. I dress like a drug addict... my hairs black my makeups dark and I wear black ...I like the idea of attracting scorpios and intense situations. Maybe that my mars.

Venus in 8H, conjunct Mars, sextile Pluto and square Uranus. I like men who have piercings and tattoos (arm sleeves are so freakin' hot!) more than plain Jims. I don't know what it is that's so special about guys who have ink. I do have a limit with piercings though. No man should have a Prince Albert. I just don't get the point (no pun intended ).

I don't have any piercings of my own, but do think they are beautiful.

I LOVEEEEEEEE Piercings on men. It adds a bit of danger, I guess but that's my Mars in Scorpio, right?

My last BF was into body mod, he had a LOT of tattoos, 40+, gauged ears, body piercings. He's a Scorpio sun. His Venus is in Virgo opposing his watery mars in Pisces.

I've got my Septum pierced, it's a pretty tame piercing, can be worn up and hidden. I aspire to get a tattoo, I don't really know if that's my Venus in Virgo...

My best friend's pierced in various places I think she's been pierced about 12 times, give or take a couple times. Her sun's in Aquarius with a Venus in Pisces.

I don't have any piercings. I used to have my ears pierced but they got very infected. Then I wanted to get my nose pierced but I didn't have the money at the time and when I had the money the job I worked at wouldn't allow it. But I love piercings.

I love tattoos. I've been known to walk up to strangers and ask for a better view of their body art-haha. I'm sketching out a tattoo I'll be getting soon -I finally got over my fear of being allergic to the ink-it's actually an astrological tattoo representing my 5th and 12th houses. Going traditional style with it. I'm just doing the sketch so when I tell the guy what I want he'll have some idea of what the hell I'm talking about, but he's going to be the one actually drawing it. I'm going big for a first tattoo. Half sleeve. I was going to have it on my upper leg but then the only way anyone could see it, is if I pulled my pants down-haha.

My Venus is Libra in the 6th. Conjuncts Mercury and Uranus. Opposes moon. Uranus conjunction maybe?

Did you get your ears piercing by a gun? Gunned piercings have a rather high rate of infection as the gun will melt in an autoclave so therefore can not be sterilised, plus the studs you get suck. I know this from experience.

I have 22 piercings, I recently took out my poorly placed gunned helix piercings (x4)in got when I was 15 so they heal over so I can rearrange my helix piercings. AVOID THE GUN PEOPLE!!!!!!(This message brought to you by Mars in Virgo lol )

Piercing are awesome but I think they have more to do with mars/uranus than venus.

Don't have any tats but maybe one day.

Venus in Cap cj Saturn in the 3rd.

According to this article, body modifications serve as "advertising" in terms of the mating game.

Thought pointing that out might offer a layer of insight into Venus placement/aspects, and maybe even which transits/progressions might trigger an urge to get pierced/tattoed (another article in PsychologyToday points out that tattoos are often undertaken as reminders of painful events).

I love most piercings and the act of getting pierced is also pretty exciting for me.

Currently the holes I have in my body are:
Ears (three left, three right)
and
Septum

Throughout my excursions of stabbing myself with sharp objects, I've had:

Ears (used to have piercings all the way up my ears and my lobes stretched)
Tongue
Labret
Nipples
Prince Albert

My Venus is in Scorpio 8th House, so stabby is naturally pretty to me (pain is beauty). Venus is also conjunct Ceres, square Saturn 5th House, and qunicunx Chiron 1st House when it comes to aspects. The OP stated, "shouldn't I be liking clean-cut, well-dressed, classy men with a stable job instead of underground metalheads and punks?" and my initial reaction was, "Why not pierced and tattooed punks who are well dressed, classy-optional, and have stable jobs?(though not everyone can date gay men)". My Uranus is in Scorpio and though it doesn't aspect Venus, it does abide in my 7th house. I think Uranus has a lot to do with my attraction to those kinds of guys.

I recently removed all my piercings, because they play a huge role in my persona. It is difficult in a way, because part of their function is social filtration. I also have a difficult time expressing the volume, color, and intensity of my inner world and wearing art aids me in expression. Having Pluto in Libra I love to express my self through decoration.

Venus in Pisces conjunct Ascendant.

I agree with what you've written. When I got my nose pierced, everyone was like, "Did it hurt?" Um, DUH!

Also rather have my piercings and tattoos than slather on makeup or go for surgery. I don't mind a bit of make up but my face is always nude. I only put mascara or liner when going for parties.

One argument I hear is, "How would that look when you're old?"

Umm, we're all gonna be wrinkly and toothless and have pigmented skin and stuff and look ugly as sh!t but atleast I would've lived my life the way I wanted

Also, NEVER GET PIERCED BY A GUN.

This is my piercing:

It healed within 5 days. I took a painkiller every morning for 3 days to lower the inflammation and went on a 3 day course of antibiotics(Amoxycillin and Cloxacillin) to prevent infections. I also cleaned my piercing with normal saline atleast once a day and rotated it a 4-5 times at the most in the day. No unnecessary touching and proper aftercare and now here I am.

I'm thinking of getting either a side labret or viper bites. Also tattoos

P.s. There seem to be a bunch of Libra Venuses here

Some people look good with their noses pierced and you're one of them.

I like that line of thought. Scorpio placements are quite prominent in my chart

Xiiro, do NOT tempt me. Seeing a hint of a tattoo peeking underneath a crisp white cuff of a well dressed man is like the most erotic type of foreplay ever

Uranus is definitely a factor so I think Aquarius might be as well.
