I think your favorite quotes say a lot about you. Let's see if we can notice any kind of a pattern between people's big three and the kind of quotes they post. Actually, nevermind post all your placements...

Cancer sun, mercury
Leo moon, venus, mars
Libra asc
aquarius north node
gemini jupiter

“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”

“Maybe there is no actual place called hell. Maybe hell is just having to listen to our grandparents breathe through their noses when they’re eating sandwiches.” - Jim Carrey

“There is only one success - to be able to spend your life in your own way.” - Christopher Morley

“The three hardest tasks in the world are neither physical feats nor intellectual achievements, but moral acts: to return love for hate, to include the excluded, and to say, I was wrong.” - Sydney J. Harris

“Remembering you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” - Steve Jobs.

“Instead of thinking about what you are going to do when you retire, think about how you can do that now and make a living from it.”

“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” - Pablo Picasso

“Your friends will know you better in the first minute you meet than your acquaintances will know you in a thousand years.”

"Growth in wisdom may be exactly measured by decrease in bitterness" - Nietzsche

Virgo Rising, Sun & Moon indicated in username.

A few that struck me recently:

quote:
Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness." -MLK

quote:
IMITATION IS SUICIDE.

A random voice of reason on Yahoo:

quote:
Group-think is the first step on the road to mob-rule. A philosopher long ago said, "50,000 people can believe a foolish thing, but it's still a foolish thing." Group-think can take these foolish things and set them instone while voices of reason get ignored (or attacked).

I have found through experience that in a group enviornment, the most intelligent contributions are the ones that get dissed. Happens every single time.

Large projects obviously require large numbers of worker bees to execute, but incompetence and inneptitude hide well ina crowd.

I have always found it to be inversely proportional: if you put two half-wits together, theoretically you should come out with a whole mind but you never do - you come out with a quarter-wit. It's been true in any environment I've ever worked in.

Work in groups and maybe do only as good as the dumbest person. Lowest common denominator, weakest link, etc. Pack mentality, mob mentality, --- stupid idiots not listening to reason nor they are capable.

quote:
Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people." - H.L. Mencken

^ And the above two should go with this:

quote:

Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Everything they've ever "known"has beenproventobe wrong.A thousand years ago everybody knew as a fact, that the earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humanswere alone onit. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

Especially so in a culture built on the ideal of individual growth and creativity.

http://grandtrines.wordpress.com/2008/10/12/mayan-calendar-2012-and-saturn-in-scorpio- 1/

quote:
The HIGHER form of Aquarius is symbolized by lightening bolts, which in turn symbolize the “stroke of genius.” The Theory of Relativity was not originated by a committee or collective. It was ONE person, Einstein, who had the “stroke of genius” while watching the relative motion of trains. THAT (which is individual) is the HIGHER form of Aquarius. Said differently, it is about a shift in consciousness that begins at the INDIVIDUAL level. To foster the higher form, we must foster the rights of individuals over collectives. (Collectives, really, need no help.)

My picks are more reflective of exalted Uranus in the 2nd than Sun/Moon/Rising lol

Capriquarius..the first two quotes are very aqua.

The one about groupthink is very cap and aqua. and the next couple of quotes are more of a mixture of cap and virgo, and the last few quotes are totally virgo! I can def see it. Thanks for sharing

As Aquarian as his outlook might sound, MLK was a Cap. Kinda like how Abraham Lincoln was an Aqua but his real reason for freeing the slaves was practical/Capricorn. Not sure whether these two had heavy influences from their neighboring signs...

I suppose most of your picks reflect your Gemini Jupiter - quite a variety. But I suppose the one from Nietzsche is the most Jupiter in Gemini-esque.

Interesting, what Steve Jobs said....he had some kind of eating disorder and lost his body weight and his mind too in a way. He was a Virgo rising with an afflicted 6th. I kinda have that too lol

According to astrotheme, MLK has pisces moon and gem asc

I think the combination of cap sun and pisces moon makes someone's ideas seem kind of aquarian. Since aqua is ruled by saturn and pisces and aqua are both very forward thinking and humanitarian.

I think most of my quotes are reflected by my aqua north node

Then, the quotes about being an artist are reflected by libra and leo

The kind of nurturing/parental quotes are reflected by my sun in cancer

^ I can sooo relate to the first two quotes you chose. I have uranus exact conjunct mc, squaring mercury and opposing jupiter.

You must understand the whole of life, not just
one little part of it. That is why you must read,
that is why you must look at the skies, that is
why you must sing and dance, and write poems,
and suffer, and understand, for all that is life.
~J.Krishnamurti

----

People are like a room full of paintings; sometimes you get so busy staring at just one. You sit close to the drawing and admire it; you wish that it could be yours. You keep looking at it, it gets so big infront of you that it blocks out all the other works of art behind it, around it, and around you.

It hurts, it seems like a big deal, because you’re sitting so close to that painting that that one canvas becomes your world, that is all that you can see, and that is all that you know.

It’s about time now, to stand up and look around the room, it’s a very big room, there are many beautiful paintings.

-----

Sometimes it just takes patience for everything to happen. You won't get respect in just one day, you can't be in love with someone you just met, and you won't be able to forgive yourself in a second. I’ve learned that helping people is good, but helping someone too much won't let them grow. You grow by making mistakes, getting hurt and learning from your regrets. Thoughts are there to help guide you to your decision. It’s you that has to take that first step into the pathway of happiness. It’s your doing that makes you who you are. Don’t assume; get your fact straight. That is what messes a lot of people up. There’s always the true story and reasoning behind everything. We are all different, but have one thing in common, we all want happiness. it is like we're all trying to fight for it, trying to get what we want, and it makes us forget the whole reason why we wanted it in the first place. Nobody said life is going to be easy. life is what you make of it. Don’t be selfish. Don’t limit yourself from doing things just because you don't think you can make it through. Remember, time isn't going to wait for you, so. Make the best of it.

I have a huge bunch of quotes saved, but these are 3 out of the many I really like.

Aries rising
Virgo sun
Libra moon, venus and mercury
Virgo mars

Indeedy. He must have mastered Aquarian wisdom and was working on its implementation (Capricorn) as well as feeling the collective (Pisces). Gemini Rising...well he was quite a communicator.

I liked that paintings quote cos it put a perspective on everything I went through awhile back.
Too fixated on one guy and one thing and everything that happened. Made me realise I had open up my eyes and step back from it all and look at it from a more detached outside perspective. Instead of getting so caught up in the 'noise' of it all.

I love this thread! I love quotes.

(Pluto in Libra in the 3rd house, part of an air grand trine with Mars in Gemini and Mercury in Aquarius )

Anyway, I love this one, thanks RunAroundScreaming:

quote:
You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” - Steve Jobs.

Capriquarius: Mencken is a riot.

Mintgirl: I love that Krishnmurti quote, too!

***

It'd be hard to choose my all-time favorites but I find myself often quoting these three:

1) When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. -Oprah

2) There is no god higher than Truth. -Gandhi

3) “The word 'belief' is a difficult thing for me. I don't believe. I must have a reason for a certain hypothesis. Either I know a thing, and then I know it - I don't need to believe it. I don't allow myself to believe a thing just for the sake of believing it." -Jung

Me, I am a Capricorn sun, Pisces moon, Leo rising gal.

quote:

A book must be the ax for the frozen sea within us.
- Franz Kafka

quote:
Sire, only opera can do this. In a play if more than one person speaks at the same time, it's just noise, no one can understand a word. But with opera, with music... with music you can have twenty individuals all talking at the same time, and it's not noise, it's a perfect harmony!
- from the movie 'Amadeus'

quote:
Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong.
- Oscar Wilde

^ Wow, love the Kafka quote!

quote:
“We all need someone to look at us. We can be divided into four categories according to the kind of look we wish to live under . . . The fourth category, the rarest, is the category of people who live in the imaginary eyes of those who are not present. They are the dreamers.”

― Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being

"the greatest achievement is accomplishing something which others believed you can't" <- found this in a book but can't remember what it was, also.. not the exact words buuut they go along those lines ever since i was young, i lacked support/motivation from people i thought would be there for me so as i grew up i learned to keep in mind that i can do anything no matter how crazy it might sound for some, i just have to do my best and that someday those people will realize that they were wrong with their assumptions about me me: virgo sun, saggitarius moon, libra mercury, scorpio venus

I have leo moon and I'm not very driven at all. I dont do things if someone thinks i cant do it, if i dont like doing it. I dont go out there an do it just to prove them wrong, or else I would end up doing a lot of things i dont really enjoy doing...like for example---sky diving, being a mathematician, race car driver, being a dancer. So I cant relate to that quote. Maybe it's only an aries and sagittarius thing?. Just trying to show different people really kinda do have different perspectives, huh? I am also not a person who likes a lot of attention, so that's prob one of the reasons why im not very driven. I want to be a psychologist. I sing opera but i didnt like it because it's too dramatic--and this is coming from someone with moon, venus and mars in leo. But i have south node in leo so maybe i am done with the drama in this lifetime. I chose jazz over opera bc it's much more low key.

Woah I thought most leo moons like attention? And an audience? Regardless of the sun?

sky diving, being a mathematician, race car driver, being a dancer.

That all sounds appealing. Except the mathematician haha.

One of my bucket list items for the year is to go sky diving! Can't wait.

'All we see or seem is but a dream within a dream'
but that's only because i'm biased in liking Poe because I have his birthday :P

How I feel about crying alone:
"...hysteria is impossible without an audience. Panicking by yourself is the same as laughing alone in an empty room; you feel really silly." invisible monsters (50)

I like the kind of people who experience difficulty while trying hard because they can achieve even greater things. -Nietzsche supposedly but i saw it in a japanese show lol

Concentrated pleasures bring more zest to living- from a taurus horoscope!

Put on your face and lets pretend- AFI

"Computers: I just feel like they're numbing
and obscuring our humanity, you know." kissing jessica stein movie

Also I quote Lolita the whole novel because it was great. My only favourite. <3

I have so many quotes i like! I write them down too lol. So i was a sucker for this thread.

Asc Libra
Sun Capricorn conj venus
Scorpio moon conj pluto
Stellium in 4h Cap of uranus, mercury, nept, saturn, venus (sun is only near venus)
Sag mars opp. jupiter (thats its only aspect.)

Don't you want that? I mean having that feeling like you can do anything?

I am somewhat paranoid that the parachute ends up having issues, but not enough to stop me from experiencing that rush!

Doesn't the leo in you want some excitement sometimes? Haha. I guess that's why aries men esp get into accidents alot lol. Too much of a good thing gets them in trouble haha.
