I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate?

Absolutely. My husband is a Scorpio Sun and he has nearly zero belief in the occult, paranormal, metaphysical or spiritual subjects. He's extremely logical.

He also tends to be blatantly honest.

The only other Scorpio he has in his chart is in Neptune, though.

I think you are right I think everyone lies probably bc is an adaptive trait evolutionarily speaking. For example, people were executed for practicing witchcraft at some point so been honest about practicing witchcraft will get you kill. I have one aspect to mercury and that is mercury opposite moon and I am not liar. I have lied but do it HARDLY ever. I enjoy been blunt and take pride it in and since opposition is the only aspect I have involving mercury I would assume this is means my mercury is afflicted but perhaps the fact that is in virgo and it conjuncts my MC and falls in the 10th helps as well as having a sag rising.

Perhaps mercury square jupiter combined with mercury square/opposition neptune and a mercury that is not exalted.

I never said every single person with an afflicted mercury is a liar but it CAN be an indicator among other aspects. The OP cleared that up when she said his mercury is unafflicted. But that doesn't mean someone with an unafflicted mercury isn't a liar. It depends on what the person lies about.

I dont lie because everyone else lies. I lie to my family ( not friends or others) about the scandalous things I have done because I am ashamed and don't want to be looked down upon in their eyes or disowned. I guess its out of insecurity/selfishness/being a Virgo moon ? If you knew my past you would understand my shame but I'm not here looking for sympathy. I have a very traditional family and I am a very untraditional person. I guess the "honorable thing" would be to follow my parents rules and be a good little girl who sits at home and cooks and cleans but I wanted to experiment. Now I regret it and hide it. One day I'll probably get drunk and tell them everything i'll just make sure they take blood pressure medicine first lol
