I'm genuinely interested (as you know) in your Virgo Moon.
Your definition of "self refinement" is appropriate. I enjoy Buddhist meditation and philosophy because the point is to just sit, pay attention to your breath, and practice being aware of the present moment. Though it can be difficult, practicing meditation like this results in deeper awareness of what is happening in everyday life. 5 years ago if I was hurt by someone, I would react with vindictiveness or do something Venus in Scorpio evil. After stuff like that happened, I would feel remorse for having reacted so poorly, but it felt like an uncontrollable side of myself. After sitting and meditating for a while, the gap between what triggers those reactions and how I choose to respond becomes much larger. I am able to see the deeper reasons for why I want to react, and become capable of making much better choices. When I started meditating, I used it to go flying off into my imagination. It was fun but I lost interest, because it wasn't resulting in change. I found more comfort in meditation when I could see productivity and refinement of my internal mechanisms. In my post, I referred to "the simple acquisition of knowledge" being "rarely exciting". A perfect example of this is the type of reading I enjoy. When given the choice, I prefer to read educational books (even text books). I was only recently able to get into novels written by classical British authors, and that had more to do with learning about historical culture and social politics. Ironically enough I love poetry and thinking up sci-fi novel plots, but I file that under "art with words" rather than the "literary" section LOL. The same can be said for the type of spirituality I choose to study. I like to study topics which produce practical transformation (Pluto is in the same house as my Moon). Astrology is a good example. I enjoy astrology and quantum physics, because a deeper understanding refines my relationship with people as well as the universe. I have little interest in studying sports, or auto mechanics, because (though I'm sure my crackhead Sag brain would prove me wrong) I don't feel acquiring that knowledge will result in personal productivity. HAHa I am just getting a chuckle over how different I sound when I write, compared to how I sound in person. My Virgo Moon, Capricorn Mercury, and Virgo Saturn get so excited when they get to type. Someone needs to tell them they're getting excited over some grandma sounding crap. Next it's off to bingo and shuffleboard. IP: Logged |

LOL, birds of a feather... I love spending time in bookstores. I can read quickly and (when I was living in the US) I was known to spend my hard-earned vacation time browsing at Borders for hours. I usually prefer to do it alone as I have very peculiar interests -unless the other person doesn't mind my getting lost in the store and keeping my nose in the books while s/he's with me... I'd rather s/he did the same so I won't feel like I drag them along. So far, my life mission has been to find this person. LOL Well, not only is my Moon in the 3rd but also Saturn (who co-rules my chart along with Uranus in the 8th). Saturn there explains why I am not the usual super-talkative Saggie. I love deep communication (Pluto and Uranus in my 8th) and it's exhausting to do this constantly. So, little but good communication goes a long way for me. And while at a bookstore the last thing is to talk to you. I'm there for the browsing, stoopid! IP: Logged |

Actually this makes perfect sense to me! I'm a Virgo SN conj Pluto. Virgo rules my 8th house where I have Pluto, Uranus (my chart ruler) and Jupiter (the ruler of my Sun!). So I am very Virgoan in quite a few ways. Like, what you read, comes too close to what I like to read!! LOL For years I considered reading fiction a "waste of time"!! It's my Virgo sense of practicality and productivity. I always loved to read encyclopedias, yes those ridiculously thick books that nobody reaches for in their shelves. Why? Because I was allowed to browse through them and only focus on what interested me at any given time. I always read nonfiction before any fiction. It was only at school that I got into the classics and so they had some practical value (to get grades! lol). But also your meditation practice makes sense to me. I am also into meditating. Sitting there for the sake of sitting is extremely boring to me. But if I do it for a reason, I have seen its expansive intellectual/spiritual effect. If it makes me a better person in some way, I will do it. And the same goes with food. I always had "weird" choices that my parental home would laugh at. I always loved to eat what's healthy even if it looked or tasted weird to others. To me, if it's healthy, I like it. Period. And lol I get like this with typing (and writing) as well. IP: Logged |

I am the same way. It's weird, because certain food may not taste "SUPER YUMMY" by general consensus. If it is good for me however, the desire to have clean food energy in my body overpowers my desire for a hamburger induced food coma. My friends hate me, because whenever we go out to eat, they crave rich and tasty, but I am always in the mood for clean and fresh (even cooked vegges taste ruined to me). It's part of the reason I am vegan, I think vegan food and raw sprouted food is like the best food ever (eating it makes me feel like I live in a forest LOL) I can occasionally be spotted stealing leaves, petals, and various plant parts out of my environment and munching on them (That could just be the Sag grazing though). Heavy food makes by body feel like I swallowed a dirty mop, so regardless of how it tastes on the tongue, the long-term effect becomes more important. Oh and whenever I crave liquids, it is either tea or water. I have always loved both tea and water, but hated soda. Coke actually tastes like rubbing alcohol to me. /shrug The same goes for me and product. laundry detergent or even textures (like wool) can make me break out if I don't stop my mind from getting into that space. I hate the way deodorant makes me feel, so after I shower, I use apple cider vinegar and then tea tree oil. It works very well for me and doesn't smell like anything all day. I use soap like Lush or Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap and shave with olive oil. It may sound weird, but my skin breaks out and dries up when I don't treat it like a short-bus kid. It's interesting being a big dopey Sag with delicate flower, Virgo skin. HAha IP: Logged |

I totally get it. For me, great food is a large bowl of veggies in my own self-made "sauce" (usually just olive oil mixed with vinegar or soya depending on the veggies). I'm not a vegan as where I live this would equal to suicide (death due to lack of vegan food availability lol). My Jup wants to be an eat-all beast. So moderation I have concluded is what I can at least strive for and a choice of wholesome (natural) foods. I also hate soda and I never understood how can Americans especially drink so much of these sodas or blue/yellow/other funny color "drinks" that are like 100% sugar and no trace of juice. I take a water bottle everywhere I go. People always ask me what flavor it is! I'm thinking that because Virgo is my SN, perhaps being more relaxed with my Virgoan tendencies is ultimately best for me. So I'm no longer as extreme as I used to be. Though I'm still not like the average Jo (or Jane). IP: Logged |

Maybe, RedScorp. I definitely relate to yours the most, out of all the previous posts on what is comforting to me. ------------------ "The better you feel about yourself, the less you feel the need to show off." — Robert Hand "Cynicism, like gullibility, is a symptom of underdeveloped critical faculties." — Jamie Whyte "I am not absentminded. I used to work at a Borders. Neat job, but I made no money - the 33% discount ate into that quote: I usually prefer to do it alone as I have very peculiar interests -unless the other person doesn't mind my getting lost in the store and keeping my nose in the books while s/he's with me... Another great activity (for me): Sitting near someone and reading, pointing out and reading aloud interesting bits A very nice Sunday. quote: Well, not only is my Moon in the 3rd but also Saturn (who co-rules my chart along with Uranus in the 8th). LOL! I am guilty of the same and you just made me feel very good because I thought I'm the only person on planet earth who feels bored when bathing!!!! LOL I love the bubbles and candles and all but maaaaaaaannnnnnnn mind-boggling BORING after precisely 10minutes (that's my threshold - I've timed it!)! IP: Logged |

oh i salt scrub feels so smooth afterwards! I guess 10min is really long for me. I get out of the "relaxation zone" and go into "must-get-out-of-here-do-something-productive" zone... leave me there for 15min and I become impossible to deal with (or probably die of boredom)... I hear some people even do it for half hour! o_O IP: Logged |

anongirl - EXACTLY.re: long baths: I dunno, you just always see the "harried woman relaxing in bath" stereotype. Some part of me has always wanted to make it work. But I'm just bored to tears after a few minutes. I've even tried bringing a book in, but invariably get my fingers wet and then have to goooooo dry them off so I can turn a page. There's a similar problem with music. I may try to listen to some ("See? I'm relaxing and listening to music!") but then song will come up that I don't like and then I have to gooooo dry off so I can change it. 10 minutes. Tops. I start to want to leave after about 5 (when the bubbles to start to crinkle, pop, and disappear), but I can usually hang tough for 10. Edited to add: But salt scrubs are amazing, Faith. Afterwards, you get to walk around with a fresh, new skin IP: Logged |

Moon in Gemini in 3rd House.I like sitting on a beach and doing absolutely nothing. Then eat good food, and do nothing. Wear only beach attire and sandals and nothing else. Did I mention "do nothing?" My wife's around to break that cycle twice a day. hahaha But then I'll have to shove a large bottle of vodka at my now 7-year old boy to keep him sedated and a couple of large pepperoni pizzas and 500 messages from girls on Facebook at my teenager to keep him occupied while I lay on the beach. One of my favorite joys in life is driving in convertibles. I do that even in 40F/4C weather to clear my mind and put a smile on my face. I also like taking corners at way too high a speed and accelerating out of corners, but that's when I need excitement. And then there's my wife. hahaha For me, given my 16+ hour days, and <6 hours of sleep, doing nothing is such an incredibly rare luxury. Surf's up and hang loose! IP: Logged |

Moon in Aries. What relaxes me, well yoga and dance. Anything that slows me down because my Aries Moon keeps me on the go 99% of the time. I have very little patience when it comes to relaxing (ironic much ) thus it has to be something intense, fulfilling that doesn't take up too much time. I really enjoy spending time with friends when I want to relax, particularly cracking jokes and being silly. Long walks are relaxing, star gazing, drinking herbal tea, swimming, hiking. Anything physical is a major de-stresser and relaxer. Dancing, laughing, sexual activities and having deep conversations are just a few of life's little joys that make me feel sublime and relaxed.
