I have Sun in Cancer conjunct my 10th house cusp. My father was not absent and he was always in my life. He was the one I went to as opposed to going to my mother. My dad is very spiritual even though he doesn't consciously accept it and I was given plenty of love by him. To this day we are very close and I can literally tell my father anything.

The only aspects my Sun makes is a trine with Pluto and it's opposing my Moon/Neptune but that just shows the differences he and my mom had.

What about your relationship with your father? I'm curious to know.

i was very close to him, although my parents had split up when i was very young and he was not in my life

i had always asked if i could live with him instead, but was denied by my mom each time

before i knew it, my dad had died and i took it the hardest....maybe that had to do with our moons trining, or maybe it was the fact i was a daddy's girl and was upset i didnt get to have the time to really get to know him

because i know scorpios and people with strong 8th houses do tend to experience a lot of paranormal things (i am both, btw) but, around their fathers?

Linda mentioned that like 80 or 90% of the time, within a year before or after a scorpio is born, someone in the family dies, and when a scorpio dies, withing a year before or after, someone in the family is born

but i'm finding a strong correlation that its not just when they are born myself

when i was a year old, my grandfather on my moms side died, then my dad died, then sometime after my dads mom died, then my best friends mother died

the only one that adversely affected me was my dad's death because i was the closest to him...i didnt know my grandfather and i didnt really know my grandmother (everyone says i met her, but i dont remember)...then when my best friends mom died, that affected me too, but not nearly as much as my dad's death even though i had gotten to know her a lot better

so, let me count off the things, lol

i'm a scorpio sun, mars and pluto, sextiling venus, saturn, neptune in 8th house (just mars and pluto are sextiling)

i was also born in the year of the snake (again, a "healer")

i'v experienced a lot of deaths, but not first hand, although i'v had a lot of pain in my life (which i wont get into) and i'v read that people like me will experience a lot of pain in their lives to be able to better help others

so not only do we learn the truth of death through our many experiences, but we are quite possibly the best people the universe has made us to be healers

it is strange....i dont quite get it either...as far as distance from me, the closest person to me that died was my best friends mother, because she died in her home, i think in her sleep due to cancer (my father also died of cancer, btw) but i wasnt there to watch it, i was home, sleeping

and then one morning i had gotten up to go to school and no one had told me that that day was her funeral, LOL

but that was the first and last funeral i went to (unless you count my granfathers, which i dont remember because i was a year old)

i had nearly died too, when i was a year, due to insane ear infections....the docs gave me pennesciline and it turned out i was deadly allergic

My dad's sun is sag 4th house. He's also a virgo moon and leo rising.

My father and I could not possibly be more different from each other. His side of the family will make jokes about it it's so striking. The thing is though, me and him are more similar to each other then we think. For one he's got pluto conjunct ascendent, so we both have that plutonic energy.

Growing up my father was extremely caring and protective of me. At the same time though, he was very big on giving freedom to me. The problem was he has a terrible time imagining what it's like to be in someone elses shoes (cap mercury), and would do all the wrong things for what I needed as a person. He treated me as a carbon copy of himself, and I am not like him. The biggest is he would never address my emotions and deem them invalid based on his values. Thus I have not nor will ever feel connected to him. He's directly told me a few years ago "I will never understand you, and I will not try".

It is what it is. I have my mother whom I am extremely close to.

My father is a Pisces with a Capricorn Rising.

Our relationship is like pure crap. Put us in a room and we can be cordial for about 5 to 10 minutes, after which it escalates into just a pile of steamy crap.

That is unless we sit down and do a business deal, in which case we are able to accord each other mutual professional respect.
