Exactly!!!

Faith, gimme a break about gas consumption! If it makes you feel better, I'm the one with the V12

Do you shop at Whole Foods and do people scowl at you there? "Who's the guy with the gas guzzler in the parking lot?!"

Seriously this thread has been instructive and beautiful to look at...all these lovely cars!

NO WONDER my Pisces friend is super particular about her car!!! I never knew Pisces and cars went together. She's always babying the thing, making sure it smells good and the seat covers are usually brand new because they have to be perfect.

Hmmm... you know, I have the same birthday as John DeLorean and maybe that's why the car I loved most in my whole life was the time machine in Back to the Future.

I don't really have much of a preference. I like my Toyota because its reliable and it doesn't need a lot of maintainance. I don't have time for that crap. I like driving my mom's car (its an Infiniti G35x) because its zippy and I can pass people easier on the highway (I'm an agressive driver). As for color preferences, I like coal/black/white/silver/champagne.

I am Gem Rising

I'm a Sag ASC with Cancer Sun. I want a car that's practical, safe and somewhat fun to drive. When I can afford a new car, I think I want a Subaru Legacy with manual transmission. AWD for the winter and practical enough, but there's something about driving an automatic that is so BORING.

Hahaha I take it that you've not tried a dual clutch automatic
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_clutch_transmission
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-automatic_transmission

Its extremely high performance that can rarely be replicated with a fully manual transmission. That is why modern sports cars are so much faster around a circuit.

So, is that like in a lot of cars nowadays with an auto that can go to manual mode without a clutch pedal? The second link made it seem that way, but the first one just confused me.

There's something about having to hit the clutch pedal to switch gears that gets my motor going.

Pisces ASC and I can honestly say I don't care! As long as it gets me from a to b that is the one and ONLY requirement. My car at present is a crappy old thing but it goes so therefore I'm more than happy with it. It serves it's purpose. That's what a car is for isn't it? I prefer my home to be the thing I get fussy about, I have to live in it. The car is just a transportation device and nothing more. (Although secretly if I had the money for something better I'm sure I'd be a little fussier! Lol)

Libra Asc: smooth running and non-problematic are the most important. Neutral color that blends in.

Mom=Aries Asc: Spacious & bold color.

Gender probably has some affect as well.

Capricorn rising.

I opted for a pick-up truck this time as I've wished I had one so many times before. Now I do and I love it. Much more useful to me than a car ever was.

Don't care much what a vehicle looks like, or don't have a preference just as long as it is reliable and runs well and I feel safe driving it.

Triple earth sign that I am wants something that's useful and not something that's just flashy or a status symbol.

OK Thank you ladies (and gentleman) for responding to this thread.

I can't draw any conclusions, except that both Pisces/water and Aries/fire risings seem to tend towards the aggressive/bold side of things.

I don't expect everyone to not view a vehicle as just a means of transportation, but while the topic is generally gender biased towards males, be assured that my wife takes her cars extremely seriously, to the extent that her wheels are customized.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading all your responses.

Yes I agree I was exactly the same way until they finally came out with the dual clutch automatic system. I was unimpressed with the "floppy paddle system" until that happenned.

Let's say you are engaged in 2nd gear, the car has already engaged 3rd gear as well because there are two clutches. When you hit third gear, the car is also already in 4th gear. So, when you hit the transmission paddle, there is no drop in revs or engine power. Its a completely smooth instantaneous transition between gears and no momentary loss in torque. The power band is so seemless that its unbelievable.

Conversely, when you come off the freeway at full speed and hit a decreasing radius apex, you will be instantly able to torque steer the car and hit the gas coming out of the corner. That performance will leave you dumbfounded, even on a small engined 4 cylinder Audi. You would be leaving more powerful "sports cars" with regular transmissions in the dust.

Would you shift into 2nd coming off the highway at 70 mph? No, because that would blow your engine. Today's smart transmission systems know exactly where in the power band to place you into 2nd gear even if you shift early. The car even intentionally lowers the engine revs if you desire to choose a lower gear early.

I tend towards black/white/silver and neutral earth tone interiors myself.

I think personality has more effect on colors than gender. My wife is crazy about Ferrari Red and Lamborghini Orange. I like it more conservative

That's cool!! I like old fixed up muscle cars too Except that they're Porsches and Mercedes lol Growing up, my dad had a 1968 911T Hardtop that I adored. I also had access to a 1969 BMW 2002.
