Hey everyone, i while back i ran into the discrepancy with the house systems so i started trying different ones. To me, different sized Placidus houses make heck of a lot of sense because we do not divide our focus equally in regards to topics in our life. And because of that, i was torn between Placidus and Whole-sign houses. I was torn because, to me, other peoples charts just clicked into place, everything made sense. Sadly, I could not experiment with my own chart because all the placements except for the MC stay the same.

I recently started looking at some celebrity charts and again, to me it made more sense.

I took a look at Angelina Jolie's chart and her saturn joins the venus/asc in the first. Pluto moves to the 4th, NN and neptune move to the 6th, Her stellium of jupiter conj Mc, moon and mars is officially in the 10th, her merc and sun in the 12th. -- To me, it makes sense because with whole sign, the ruler of her 5th is now in the 4th (3rd placidus). NN at in Sagg, is in the house of service along with neptune, and her sun in the 12th accounts for issues with her father.

I also looked at Brads chart. The main changes in his chart are: His jupiter (chart ruler) moves from 4th to 5th (big difference), his uranus and pluto to the 10th from the 9th.

Im not saying the charts are in any way inaccurate using placidus, they just bring different things into focus, to me personally, it just feels right.

The way i understand it, is that the degrees of the asc are extended into each house, so the sensitive cusp ends up somewhere in the house. The ASC/MC are still just as significant.

I once read a rationalization of using the equal house system (different, i know) when the MC is separated from the 10th. This was on another board and i couldn't find it but the way she explained it was: "To think of the MC as the president and the 10th as the White House. The MC is still and always will be the president." I use the Porphyry system to determine how 'active' the planet is in the chart. So i went back to the originally used houses.

I really wish i had changes in my chart so i could comment on the accuracy for myself. I only have 16 charts of people in my life. 10 of them are actually couples so i have been able to do some synastry practice with those. There was a synastry chart where a couple of placements made sense either way. But even with my very minimal practice after reading many articles, forums, etc. on the history of astrology, houses, the confusion with them, i am pretty sure i found the system i will stick to for now.

This is a straight forward explanation by Robert Schmidt -

Have you tried it? How does it work for you? Is it something you could consider using in addition to another house system like some have proposed?

I dunno, both whole signs and placidus have the things that fit and the things that don't...between the two house systems, only two planets would change: Mars and Saturn. In placidus, my Mars is in the Eleventh and my Saturn resides in the Sixth. With Whole Signs, Mars migrates to the Twelfth, Saturn easing into the Seventh. I've italicised what I find fits for me. What remains in regular font I feel unsure about.

Every house system except the Whole sign has my Saturn in the 11H. The whole system puts it in the 12H, eh, not the one I would choose but glad it works for you :]

Well it doesnt for me because in whole sign system my sun conjunct venus goes in 10th house as well as on mc.. i may be a hot guy but i am not a man of ambitions or any 10th matters(at least for now). Also i like 9th matters since they are in there in placidius. Then my north node goes into 11th house which is never to be followed from me. Also in equal, my mars goes to 4th on dc which is supposed to give enormous focus ability and i am offically diagnosed with lack of concentration(doctor said).

I'm still figuring everything out.

One big thing that changes is, Uranus would move into my fourth house. I have eccentric siblings and a tendency to say nutty things therefore, I have felt that it belongs in the third house.

However, I'm reading that people with Uranus in the fourth MUST leave their place of birth to succeed in life. I had an epiphany in my early 20's where I realized this (without looking into astrology.) Also I long to live on a house boat, and that's very Uranus-in-the-fourth.

If a planet is close to a house cusp, can it affect both houses?

It doesn't work for me. I'm into Placidus, I feel like that is a more realistic version of me. Whole signs is too equal and what I'd hope to be rather than am. lol

I am working a lot with houserulers, and have found that only Placidus or even better, topocentric, really works for me in that regard.

Personally I can't see the point in researchinng celebs charts as how can you possibly verify anything. At least with family and friends charts, you can talk things through.

the main differences with placidus and Equal (mind) and Whole is quite simply PLANETS MOVE HOUSES and it's upto you to play detective and see which planets fit in which houses for YOU.

for example in my own chart IF i did use placidus my stellium would move two full houses and this simply is not me...

Why not create one or two charts and really study them. MC will always be MC inEqual, but having another 10th house cusp is like a weaker secondary axis, which ALL cusps can be verified using Transits and progressions and to do this you must learn how to use an ephemeris...

If you want to learn how to use an ephemeris try here.. http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42496

here is my favourite online ephemeris which plots where the planets are for hundreds of years...

I was just saying that it worked for me, at least for now. Not that i would discount other house systems. And there is a chance i may just go on shifting between the two. Having said that, there is something about whole-houses that just feels "right" for me.

SaggiMC, you are absolutely right about celebrity charts, i was just playing around because they are two of my favorite Hollywood stars I wish my planets DID move houses between different house systems but they do not

MertSerimer - I have a stellium of sun/merc/jupiter all strongly aspected in my 10th and i am not, AT ALL career driven anything. Thats why the MC in the 9th in whole houses just clicks because that is my main focus, always has been.

Moonfish, that would be a rather unhappy place for saturn.

Faith, yes. Most give it an orb of 5* to affect both houses unless its retrograde.

Caridwen, i will be looking at house rulers more. One thing i did notice that wouldn't add up with the house rulers with whole signs was on the day my daughter was born. That day, t-uranus was trining my pluto exactly. Pluto is ruler of my 5th in Placidus, Rules the 4th in whole-signs.
