This is one of my favorite descriptions of mars in sag, from: http://www.rajunasrefuge.com/mars.html

MARS IN SAGITTARIUS: You have a carefree, courageous, independent and original outlook, with a daring "don't give a damn" attitude for the opinions of those in powerful positions. You love all kinds of activity for its own sake - both physical and mental. You are gifted with tremendous foresight amounting almost to prophetic insight. You are fiercely independent and idealistic, and would rather fly than crawl, yet you are always being faced with the fearful attitude of the conservative - minded; that everything must be learned through ritual and rote - starting at the very bottom. You don't quite see it that way and are not afraid to say so. You love travel and high adventure, yet you want to influence the major trends of your generation ( and may very well succeed)! Generally, you are impulsive, you tend to act rashly or say whatever pops into your mind. Because you're able to see through the pomp and phoniness, and are usually correct in your judgements, this makes your quarry uneasy and angry. You are, however, candid, liberal, ambitious, and generous. You are also inventive, ingenious and fond of outdoor sports, all forms of athletics and strenuous exercise. You probably have a keen admiration for military and naval tactics as well as for the spartan life of the professional warrior. Your active, inventive mentality keenly enjoys good - natured debates and arguments amongst friends. You'll profit through inheritance, friends, and/or marriage. Will likely have more than one marriage. If afflicted, brings trouble from orthodox religious leaders and groups, siblings, neighbors, and relatives and danger in your job. Learn to curb your tendency for candid, skeptical, unorthodox or iconoclastic appraisals of established values.

Agree with all of it except for sports and strenuous exercise, NO THANKS.

I have a mutual reception trine from Jupiter in Aries.

Mars in Sagittarius here! Can I get a HELL YEAH (and secretly hope it offends conservatives and incompetent social figures of unmerited status...)

No, in all seriousness, this description described me perfectly. All but that tidbit about admiring naval officers/warriors... But they forgot to include our love of horses/equestrianism and our love of dance!!! I think it's one of the best attributes of Mars in Sag.

I have actually found Mars in Sag to be the most righteous, unwavering, abrasive, confrontational Mars placing. Cookbook descriptions don't usually describe it like this, but most of people with Mars in Sag whom I have observed have been far more so than Mars in Aries, Leo or Scorpio.

I will chew you up and spit you out in a matter of seconds... and I willingly encourage you to try me! Hahaha... I've found many other Mars in Sag to be this way. AKA "if you don't like it, f*** me!" kind of mentality.

We're also very LOUD and let's face it, obnoxious. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Mars square Jupiter
Mars conjunct Mercury
Mars opposite Moon

Hahahaha forreal! The feeling is mutual, scrappy dog. I find that me and other Mars-in-Sag folk are always drawn to each other. It's very unique in its effect, so when you sense that energy in another individual, it's like.... wow, finally someone on my level.... hahaha. I can hear you getting loud from over here!!!

They say Mars in Leo roars the loudest, but it's pretty safe to say Mars in Sag would take the cake when it comes to vocal volume. How do you express your anger???

@Scrappydog - if i'm understanding my chart right(your ascendent counts as the first house right?)
then i've got sag in mars, saturn, and uranus in my 10th house.

@alaz7200 -HELLLLS YEAH!!! lol i completely agree with everything you said, except i have a weird fascination with war (and i study peace, go figure right) and although i'm more interested in the human elements of war, i do find battle tactics interesting, and i'm a serious sucker for epic battle scenes in movies (but i'm not talking lame american action movies like nick cage ones).

i'm also a dancer...woooot!!

i had somebody tell me the other day "just be blunt. actually...on second though, i don't really think that's an issue with you..." HA!

Does not describe my Scorpio friend with Mars in Sag. At all. Maybe since Scorpio and Sag don't mesh easily, she projects her Mars onto the guys in her life. Her hubby is actually a Taurus but works in law, which is ruled by Sagittarius. And when she was younger, she briefly went for guys who were of a different culture than her.

SaggiMC - seriously can't anybody ever post anything without getting a lecture through links about how we aren't understanding astrology right?! I know houses and aspects are important, and I never thought that mars in the signs was the end all, but I started the thread and I WANTED to talk about mars in sagittarius.

It's not your job to force information on people at every available instance, WE HAVE THE INTERNET lol I've read a ton about mars in sag online already, and i'm fully capable of finding information myself. I just really loved this description and think it's the best one i've come across and wanted to share here.
rawr! lol

I have trouble deciding whether Mars in Libra or Mars in Sag is my favorite Mars in men.. one can either be trine or opposite my Venus. There is something so fun and insanely, insanely cool about the two Mars in Sags I've been with. Super non-commital, but just awesome people all around.

Ryan Gosling's mars is in sag, you know, just sayin'... http://www.buzzfeed.com/fjelstud/is-ryan-gosling-cuter-than-a-puppy

mmmm I just discovered that the current guy i have my eye on has his venus in sag, and his mars in libra...that just guarantees fun all round. hehehe

venus in scorpio and mars in sag sounds like an amazing combo, personally that sounds fabulous to me, because it would mean venus trine venus, along with mars conjunct mars. YUM!

Alaz, I get rightously FURIOUS! I can cuss like a sailor and I have a powerful complusion to get MY point across, hehe I always think Im right, especially when dealing with anyone closeminded/ignorant/conservative. I HATE people who try to restrict other peoples freedom or infring on their basic human rights! I am very liberal, I know some of that comes from the uranus conj in 7th too tho. Threaten me and I might even break a coffee pot over someones head, haha true story...

damn on the mars in libra front. you think he'd still be not be very initiating if even with a sag venus? i'd think that would make him more forward and pouncible (literally). my venus in pisces so i like somebody to take control now and then. hehe

I have Venus in Scorpio & Mars in Sagittarius! I feel it is quite a combo, if I do say so myself. As another poster mentioned, the Scorpio-Sagittarius dichotomy can be a peculiar set of energies to reconcile, but it generally translates to a very comical, fun-loving, super-sexed person with a lot of integrity and morals who refuses to settle for anything but the best because he/she cherishes his/her freedom so much. I don't struggle with the jealousy issues so often synonymous with Scorpio Venus (conjunct Pluto to boot!) which I often attribute to the prominent Sagittarius in my chart (Sun, Mercury and Mars).

Your post's wording was somewhat of a conundrum to decipher; which were they? Smart brave powerful outgoing and fun intellectual, Or the scattered energy, fun, weak willed, confused roamer?
