"I get crazy in a bookstore. It makes my heart beat hard because I want to buy everything."

I attended a social gathering yesterday evening, during which I conversed with various acquaintances about the feeling one gets when walking into a bookstore.

Personally, I am simultaneously captivated and fearful of what my credit card statement will reflect afterward. As a child, my "excitement" for literature extended so far as to, on occasion, induce inordinate bowel activity! It truly is such a rush for me. I love the vast array of subject matter and crisp, unscathed pages!

All but a select few of said acquaintances resonated with this euphoria I speak of, and it turns out these select few each have Gemini prominent in their natal charts! One of them remarked, "There's just so much knowledge stored in one place!" (Mercury in Gemini)

I have the Moon in Gemini in the 9th House. I've also got a packed 2nd and 3rd House. 2nd House would pertain to the sensual gratification I derive from books, while the 3rd House would pertain to my love of knowledge and literature. I literally love to smell the pages of books and hold them in my hand -- these Kindle and nook devices are not for me. Purchasing actual books for my own home library is such a joy. Must be my Mercury in the 2nd House talking there.

Which lends the question: do you experience this type of overwhelmingly-ecstatic-climactic sentiment when entering a bookstore? What placements or aspects do you attribute this to?

Do you have a prominent 2nd or 4th House? Prominent Taurus or Cancer, perhaps? I typically associate these signs/houses with love of food. Also, the 6th House to a lesser extent.

I feel that way at movie stores! I wanna buy lotsa films and just watch everything. Libra Mercury in Second House. Books are beautiful, but too much work! I'd rather sit on my ass and stare at a big TV screen.

It looks like there is a correlation between book-lovers and Gemini/2nd House!

Let me put it this way..

A Gemini Moon person and their books are more inseparable than a coke addict and his cocaine.

It is worse than an addiction. It is insane lol I know one who sleeps with her books. Her bf has no space left in the bed.
They just LOVE books. They think books have a life of their own and should be treated nicely. One of my other Gem Moon friends had a heart attack because I moved one of her books from it's alloted place near the window - You see the book was no longer getting as much fresh air as it needed..
(I'm not even sure why I added on the laughing emoticon since I have a feeling you fellow Gemmy Mooners will not see the funny side of this hahah
Ya... I see you there behind your comp screen, reading my post thinking.. "How dare she do such a thing?!!! Is the poor lil' book OK????" *insert worried expression*)

Tip: If you care about your life and your hearing.. do not EVER ever ever touch or move or in any way interfere with a Gemini Mooner's books.. unless they expressly give you their consent beforehand.

I do too. I'm a virgo with no gemini placements. Unless you count really obscure asteriods.

I feel the same way in a bookstore, maybe not so excited lately since I go often and I realized I find a really great book maybe once a year. I also love the scent of old books and the scent of magazines.

Aries sun, Taurus moon, Libra asc. My only Gemini placement is in the Draco chart, the ascendant.

I kind of feel the same way, I am fascinated by books but I seldom read any because I don't have the patience!

Gemini rising.

I feel the same way in bookstores. There is so much endless information and so much I want to read. I love to read but I'm not Gemini-heavy. In fact, I have virtually no Gemini but I have Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Virgo. Virgo-influenced people tend to be big readers, too, as well as avid writers. Both signs are Mercury-ruled, of course.

^ Agreed, Virgo Moon here and I love reading (mainly articles on the internet). Gathering as much information as I can is somewhat of a hobby for me.

Oh, by the way, beautiful blog you have here, the89freespirit! Love it

This is me. I need to change that, though, because I don't like them always falling on the floor, and the pages getting messed up.

I have a deck of lenormand cards in their box there, too. I think I'll move those in a minute.

LOL. No comment. (Actually, I get that way about other things.)

Same here! I've usually got a few books in my bed, along with laptop which i fall asleep often reading on.

Like the other Virgo Moons, I like to gather as much information as possible when I'm interested in a subject too.

Gem Moon here, and I'm far from insulted. I'm sitting here, giggling, nodding my head in agreement! I don't do those things you describe now, but I sure did as a kid. NO ONE BETTER TOUCH MY BOOKS!!! Ooohh, you should have seen how it drove my Cap mother crazy! She hates having books around. Unless they're her own. I have to have a book on every table of the house. Even the kitchen.

I have zero Gemini/Virgo influence and I *love* reading. I can spend a lot of time in a bookstore. There's a used bookstore a couple towns over that I've found the most fascinating stuff in. It's also in an abandoned factory building right on the river so its architecture is just as fascinating as its contents. I am studying Spanish literature in college . . . I am such a geek about authors, trends in literature, etc. I love to talk about it, but as it can come off as pretentious unless I'm around other people I know love to read, too, I don't talk about it so much. I do always mention if I started a great book to whoever I can, regardless.

My Mercury is in Scorpio, 9th house, conjunct Sagittarius MC. My Moon is in Pisces, 1st house. My Sagittarius sun is in the 10th house. Probably a combination of these brings me to my obsession with the written word and learning
