I'm confused about certain points to reading a chart.

1. For example the guy in this chart has his mars in the 12th house which is in leo....but on the sidebar it says that mars is in cancer?

Why does that happen?

2. Also, when a planet is at the end of a house why is considered part of another house? Why wouldn't you just put it in the other house if that's how one needs to consider it being placed?

3. When looking at aspects what about the separating and applying? Even with tight orbs are you supposed to dismiss the separating aspects? I read somewhere that those were aspects that were completed of done with....but when was it completed? I don't really understand it.

4. In cafeastrology, there is a tally that you can use to find out how strong the relationship is. However in it, there are a couple parts that confuse me. I thought we used the synastry aspects alone since it's a "synastry tally", but there are points for moon being in the 1st or 7th house, or planets in using midpoint. How do you figure that out using the synastry chart alone? Would that mean we'd have to use the composite or the natal chart or all three?

5. What about vedic astrology and maggi astrology? What do those dilineate?

Thanks : )

That's impossible. It's either in Leo or in Cancer; look again!

That's what we call cusps.
Basically what it means is that a planet which is at the end of a house has almost completed its function in this house, and is looking towards the next house. So it's ready to enter the next house, and its energies are focused both in the house it's in and in the house it's close to. Thus, you should consider that planet in both houses, unless you use Equal house system or Whole sign system.

You're probably confusing this with Horary astrology, where separating aspects represent the past and what has already happened.
In regular astrology though, separating aspects and applying aspects both count. The only thing that differs is that separating aspects are starting to fade, because they already took place, so now the planets are moving away from each other (but the effects are still felt, depending on the orb). Applying aspects on the other hand mean that two planets are moving toward each other, so their energies are stronger (again, depending on the orb).

No, you still use the synastry chart.
When it says "Moon in the 7th" for example, it means that when your Moon falls in your partner's 7th house, it's significant (or vice versa, their Moon in your 7th, etc).

I don't use vedic nor Maggi astrolology so I can't help you on these.

Hope this helps some!

Orbs in astrology can be quite contentious issues
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/212731.html

then planets in placidus (the default on astro) could well move in Equal house system. Just something else to consider.

Now applying and separating become more relevent with wide orbs. Say if something is 8' and separating, then it's influences are far weakening than if it were applying (becoming closer).

Maybe this is used in horary, I don't use or understand it and really it's more for Traditonal astroloers, than Modern (like myself)

so, yes I would 'look at' applying and separating orbs..

I don't like or use the points system on cafeastrology. If you are looking into learning astrology there is no better place to start than Basic forum.

Basic astrology forum, How to approach Synastry http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum12/private-jjLYZw161/HTML/000667.html
To enter this forum you need an extra password – (astrology)

Please remember to reduce the orb ratio down to 40% (ONLY for synastry bi wheel) as the max orb between planets is 3'. Composite should be 85% orbs. Please also include, vertex, juno and POF (part of fortune).

when you get this SYNASTRY chart, please also post the *pdf file*, above left of chart look for *view additional tables (PDF)* This will bring up 2pages. Scroll down to last page for the *ASPECT GRID* THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AS IT SEEMS TO SHOW MORE ASPECTS THAN IS VISIBLE ON THE BI WHEEL…

problem is uploading to photobucket (or imageshack) you have to change this from Abode format into a picture/jpeg format. This is done by getting the relevant page/grid in front of you on screen then, the press ‘prtsc sysrq’ - top row inbetween pause break and F12. This has been copied to clipboard.

Paste into Paint or some other photo software. Crop the picture and save to hard drive, then upload to photobucket, select chart, press IMG and past link into thread.... all done

99.9% here are Western astrologers that use Tropical zodiac. Vedic astrologers seem big in Asia/Indda? are you from the East?

New batch of crazy questions:

1. We look at synastry and composites, and we reduce the orbs. But some say you need to still look at the chart without the orbs reduced because it gives one the flavor of the r/s. My question is: Regardless of orbs aren't the "heavier" or outer palnets more strongly felt, because no matter the orb they are simply too profound to eliminate due to orb exclusion aka wide orbs?

2. When we use progessed charts, does it mean they are the same as transits?

3. Should we focus more on progressed charts than natal charts as we get older and are moving away from the natal point or origin?

4. Is face reading interrelated to astrology?

5. When we look at marriage or a committed union, we look at: natal charts to find the needs of each person, synastry chart to find the attraction, composite to find the midway mirror of the r/s that each sees, then we look at progressed charts, transits to see if the timing is correct. Isn't it difficult then to have committed r/s based on all the things that need to ring true for a committed r/s? Is it a wonder that we are moving toward less than committed r/s as a civilization?
