To be honest, I asked a guy I was dating by text message once without any explanation and he gave his time of birth to me and didn't even ask why. Never even had a clue. lol. I had to be coerced into doing this by an Aquarius friend though, who insisted that the guy would probably tell me without questioning it... Turns out the Aqua was right. IP: Logged |

Aquaguy's right, T. YTA was just trying to funnily present it from a guy's point of view. Nowadays, tho', so many people are "into" astrology, it really isn't a big deal. Hey, T, remember the 2 gifs you posted for Taurus (on the Jupiter in Gemini thread)? Well, I still think about them and chuckle. IP: Logged |

Just straight up ask them. I do and it's right easy! But then again, not to flatter my own ego, I have been called charismatic, sooo... quote: Originally posted by Ceridwen: To be honest I find it more creepy to construe a big complicated story for finding out such a simple thing.

I just outright ask. And most times I let them know I am interested in Astrology. Normally, they are also interested to know about themselves.Anyway, I am only interested in people I care about - friends, family or people I date. IP: Logged |

I have never had a problem and just ask, my kid is terrible about it, lol, she will ask anybody! My boyfriend, however, was not so easy, still wont ask his mom. Raised by devout Catholics he thinks it not so good. Says if I ever meet them I am not to say anything about my stranger ways. I figured out he was most probably a Cancer asc, so drew up a chart for him, he is highly Virgoan, tweeked it out so his Virgo planets fall in the 4th, he is so darn connected to his mom, and family and the birthtime came out to be 2:30 am. One day, my kid got frusterated with him and said "come on if you wont tell my mom, tell me!!!" He said he thought around 2:30 am!!! Still not sure, but rectification can help alot. Had to do this with my own chart cause my birth time is sketchy. Funny thing is, with the chart I have drawn up for him, his IC conj my DC within 2 degrees and vice versa ofcourse, so I really dont want to mess with it too much more! IP: Logged |

Most people do not know their birth time without looking at their birth certificate. It isn't something that regular people take notice. I was off by about 58 minutes until I checked . IP: Logged |

I don't understand why, but I feel such a compelling need to answer your questions. I shall do that honestly.

I am 49 years old this year. I am American. quote: When you are having a conversation with someone who is interested, asking their time of birth is not "loser alert galore"
It was a tongue in cheek comment, but I shall now answer what is truly on my mind. Its not weird from your perspective. It is weird from mine. Right away, it identifies an interest in astrology, but that is not the issue per se. I find it highly inappropriate, akin to asking me the size of my paycheck or me asking your breast size. quote: And when you are a cool hot chick, guys will tell you whatever you want to know.
I don't care if you are an Elite Model or Miss Universe, or you were some walking goddess, you ain't getting sh1t out of me because (1) when I was dating, I wouldn't have known myself without running home and frantically searching through my personal document safe, (2) I wouldn't tell you unless you really are my committed companion, and (3) I wouldn't be dating any woman who is that much committed to astrology such that birth time is a do or die mission. Like me for who I am and not my birth chart. You don't know who I am by looking at some chart. If you would like to form negative opinions from my chart, then perhaps it wouldn't be productive for you to see me. quote: Maybe that's why it's always not been a problem. People - male or female, always feel comfortable enough around me to talk about it.
That's absolutely wonderful for you. No disrespect or offense intended towards anyone or any party. I speak my mind. I am, after all, a Capricorn. IP: Logged |

I always ask people if they are a morning person or an evening person... then I tell the story of how each person in my family feels best at the time of day they were born, and I wonder if it works the same for them or their family...Nobody has found it creepy and I don't have to bring up astrology with people I think might doubt it... nor do I have to let guys I'm interested in know that I am trying to see our composite I know other people are very straight forward about it and want other people to join us in our love for astrology. I feel like this is a path to God just as any religion would be and I feel like the right thing to do is let it come up a little more naturally and wait for people lead me into it... if they show they have an interest in astrology first, or things New Age then I will open up a bit more but until then, I prefer to keep it to myself as much as possible. They guy I am involved with right now really has no idea that I study astrology at all and it's kind of a big thing in my life right now. IP: Logged |

I was thinking about using this site to order someone's birth certificate but I think you need to be one of the people on the certificate. IP: Logged |

Yes, unfortunately, ChildofVenus, people do it (as false id) to apply for charge cards, social security benefits, etc.Another place to find that information, if they came from a small town, would be to find the local newspaper birth social news columns. They used to 'microfiche' (picture store on films) past pages of the newspapers. Send a request to their local region's library, offer them research fee, and I think some might send copied pages? .. I used to do research in the past. (Have used this type of service before.) Good way to fact-check historic items. This might be TooMuchInformation, but just in case you were curious about archaic methods! LOL - http://www.thefullwiki.org/Microfiche If the family had been asked by a journalist they knew, the information "could" have been mentioned in an article about the birth of their child? You won't commonly find it in birth-notices anymore. I think smaller newspapers did, a long long long long time ago.
Geneology records (through some of these newest websites) could have photos of some birth certificates and records. But if this is a person of your own age, (not grandparents, etc), they started doing extra security measures -- especially in the past decade. Identity thieves, kidnappers, can use what they find. I remember when it was even suggested not to post a picture of your child, nor mention their names-- so that a kidnapper couldn't 'use' it to steal the child. Code-words became important even with signing a child out of school, if you weren't the parent. Good luck, CV! {Why don't you try some of the suggestions given in this older post?} Some of these were REALLY funny!, but I bet effective.
