I think he's having a bad day athene. Not a reason to cut you down for sure. Maybe he will apologize. He might be hurting in his own life or he is very young and thinks it's fun. Give him some time to redeem himself anyway. There's a question from nightingale in the asteroids forum that I think you'd do great answering if you have some time. IP: Logged |

Randall allows freedom but HAS to ban someone when they will take NO correction as happened recently. There is a great system in place, imho, anyway.
This is true... there should be freedom to a point but people go on and on sometimes so that it's even irritating to read some of the threads... it's gotten to the point where if a thread has a lot of posts, I tend to not bother to read it because I'm sure it has at the very least gone off on an unnecessary tangent... and there is usually an irritating battle inside, where no doubt people are getting unnecessarily hurt...

It's not that hard to identify spam and eliminate it.
This isn't about freedom of speech, it's about forums being invaded by obvious spammers, and not being effective at removing the nuisance. IP: Logged |

The thing I agree most with is that PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO CONTROL THEMSELVES!!!Even this thread went off on a bit of a tangent... ugh... such a waste of time to read all that back and forth meaningless crap that eludes the point of the whole thread... What I learned from my own thread!?!? JUST IGNORE THE COMMENTS AND MOVE ON, DON'T EVEN RESPOND TO THEM!! IP: Logged |

Yep, ignoring is equal to wisdom

A self perpetuating circle. It's a difficult balance. I for one enjoy relatively lax (but still existent) rules. Mostly because, everyone has a bad day and sometimes that comes out on forums people visit... if you're too quick to ban, then you make things worse, or lose them entirely. That and I tend to get a little brash myself at times and it's nice to know it's only when I get seriously out of hand someone is going to step in. Makes it easier to relax and be nice.
--agreed I think that banning should be for serious offenses or repeat offenses. Also think that for minor offenses, a warning system is good to have/some very clear and agreed-upon rules. Also support things like probation, temporary ban, and permanent ban, depending on the severity of the case and the person involved. Everyone gets heated once in awhile or about certain things. To me, the people who need to be banned are the people who are really offensive and out of line, or the people who do not take correction/make no attempt to make positive changes suggested by mods. I personally don't have a problem with tangents, as it's normal and fine for discussions to evolve and change directions. As long as it's not literal spam (as in, people selling things), or personal attacks, fine by me. Sometimes things pop into people's heads or people just joke around, and to me that's OK. Many long threads have interesting and knowledgeable posts inside... even when they veer off on a tangent. So I think, sometimes - you are missing out if you don't click on them. On LL there are relatively few fights anyway, compared to other forums. Also, there are a couple of astrology-related forums out there - that have next to no personal interaction happening (so less chance of threads veering off). I don't really like the atmosphere. But if you would prefer that - you can always join. IP: Logged |

What I can't deal with on this site is the generalizing and stereotyping that goes on under the veil of astrological 'truth'. There can't be any debate because some people know better and when you suggest that others might think differently you are told that you have no clue about astrology. It is rude and unneccessary but seems to be acceptable on here. I can't accept that and it really angers me. Especially because I dislike any type of negative stereotyping. I know that astrology works with generalizations but sometimes it's too much. e.g. using someones birth data against them is a really low way of operating. I have seen that often and people seem to think that they are in the right when they do that. I was hoping that astrology would be the one thing were you are safe from the hurtful prejudices that cloud so many other issues. But it doesn't seem to be the case. I'm aware that many don't get what I am talking about because those issues aren't priorities for them.I just wanna put out there that I can't read something that makes me angry and not reply. If that is a major interference in how the site functions I am sorry. IP: Logged |

What gets you angry, in particular SH. Can you give an example?

Well, as I stated I don't like the "you have no idea about astrology - so sit back and listen". Even if one brings up valid points or uses own life experience. But what angers me most are people who like to use judgemental language and then state is as fact. e.g. this and that placement makes you dull - etc. I don't think it is neccessary since all this can be said in a way less insulting way and is open to debate. Well, I am quite tired of focusing on the negative things so much. Just wanted to state my opinion real quick. IP: Logged |

Honestly, this is the wisdom I have gotten from being on here for 3 years( and mainly seeing how Randall operates). You have to ignore the people you do not like. We all have them. ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

This string is serving no constructive purpose. People lose tempers (usually related to something else going on in their lives) and then lash oit...but that is different from people spewing hate. The few intentional trouble-makers always get weeded out. Onward and upward!IP: Logged |

Please. No more "I hate men" or "What signs make men scum" or "why are men such etc" threads. It's like the majority oppressing the minority out of sheer democratic vote. That is an unchecked form of hatred disguised as civil discourse. IP: Logged |
