I have seen people post things like "duh! everyone knows that!" after some helpful posts... and that was totally unwarranted because I, for one, did not know the info before it was posted... but never less... that kind of negative posting shouldn't go unnoticed... there is no reason for it... it's bullying and it should have a consequence for the perpetrator, not just the victim who endures the comment...

Is there any reason there are no temporary bans on this site? Do people get warnings?

You don't want to get it so people are afraid to say Boo. I was on a site for people who had mental illness in their families and you could not look at someone crossed eyed without Mod's coming in. I hated it because it was not real life. Randall allows freedom but HAS to ban someone when they will take NO correction as happened recently. There is a great system in place, imho, anyway.

I use to be an admin on a game site that had some really strict rules like that. It was horrible... the more you banned, the more people needed to be banned. A self perpetuating circle.

It's a difficult balance.

I for one enjoy relatively lax (but still existent) rules. Mostly because, everyone has a bad day and sometimes that comes out on forums people visit... if you're too quick to ban, then you make things worse, or lose them entirely. That and I tend to get a little brash myself at times and it's nice to know it's only when I get seriously out of hand someone is going to step in. Makes it easier to relax and be nice.
