Has anyone ever noticed, when you read about any type of Cancer placement, it's often met with a translation of it being an affliction?I'm NOT including Moon Aspects per say, and I'm NOT including 4th House placements. And I'm hesitant to include the Ascendant in Cancer. It's only when you read about a Planet in Cancer. Even if one has a Moon in Cancer, which is it's natural placement, it's not like it makes someone a reliable nurturer who is all-giving all the time. In fact, the translations usually say they're UNreliable.
Anyone else notice this? ------------------ . . We're not human beings having a spiritual experience. We're spiritual beings having a human experience.

Yes and it drives me batty. Back in the day, when people would ask me what my sign was, I would reply something like, "Cancer, but I'm on the Gemini cusp!" It wasn't until I was at a bar and someone I had just met asked me my sign and I said, "Cancer, unfortunately." He told me to own it; anyone who has given me any negative feedback when I reveal my sign, it's their issue not mine. I think he was a Gemini, if memory serves me. And I do own it now. Cancer Sun, Mercury and Mars. IP: Logged |

I guess so lol but I love cancers. They leave out that they are driven to provide and build a home and that's a much much greater source of strength than what most signs have going for them. Also can't they flow with the tides and grow back claws?IP: Logged |

People say Jupiter in Cancer is a pretty good thing. ------------------ Astrology Activism: The constant strive to not just learn the intricate details of Astrology but the desire to constantly find new ways to prove that it exists in a scientific manner. Failure to incorporate the later into your work is akin to learning how to cure cancer but not sharing it with anyone. IP: Logged |

I have the moon in Cancer. I may be a moody little thing sometimes, but I'll remember a lot of the little things you tell me, genuinely care when I'm talking to you, AND I CAN COOK! :-)boo-ya IP: Logged |

Actually no, I've never heard of that. But tell me Sand if you know...I have Mars in Cancer in the 29th degree. I'm quite curious now.

I've always found that the two signs which get the most consistent groans, stink-eye and that irritating all knowing look are Cancers and Scorpios. "Oh", they say to me "so you're really moody and sensitive." (And then I cry and go write about it in my journal.)I kid. I have a Cancer Sun and Venus and I agree that people (including a lot of astrologers) tend to sometimes subtly portray us as being a bit afflicted. As Fondue Knight said, it's best to just own it. Every sign has it's strengths and weaknesses but how those get interpreted depends a lot on how society sees them. Being sensitive is not always considered a plus in a society with a "keep calm and carry on" mentality. But that sensitivity might be the thing that helps others through tough times. It all depends on how you use it. Btw, for Fondue Knight: I'm a Cancer on the Gem cusp too. When exactly is your birthday? IP: Logged |

OMG! Me too! That's hilarious because I rarely meet anyone with my birthday and if I do (I can count them on one hand) they are usually a man. (You're a woman, right? Sorry, I have no clue).Either way, happy to meet you IP: Logged |

For Fondue Knight: I'm dying laughing over here!! I didn't want to say it before but that's been exactly my experience too - and word for word no less. Every time I meet someone with my birthday I literally think "what a douche" and then spend several hours contemplating my own possible douchiness. (still laughing)And I'm not disappointed you're a dude What year were you born? Don't mean to hijack this thread btw IP: Logged |

I actually really like Cancer females. They have a compassion and warmth that resonates. I don't know too many because we seem to be pulled in different directions, either from different interests and lifestyles or from similar interests and lifestyles but dissimilar temperaments. But I continue to admire them from afar.I have two good Cancer male friends (one is gay). Very loyal, very respectful. I value this sign but I do have to admit that I tend to view being a Cancer itself as a bit of an affliction. I need to get past that. It is not unfortunate to be born under a sign that tends to attract money so easily. IP: Logged |

Although i noticed that the cancer i do meet are kinda distant. I've never had a cancer friend. Nor do i know too many in my family. I never get the chance to know them.IP: Logged |

Cancer's purpose in the world is to inspire emotion in others. Whether that be happiness or sadness. That's why we feel so much. We're here to add substance, depth...meaning to everything. The world is pretty superficial from our POV.IP: Logged |
