If so, that may account for the differences. The animal sign being a general overview with the elemental aspect being the more detailed version.

Don't know anything about Chinese Astrology. There's already so much to learn in Western.

The chinese zodiacs are different and you can't find a western sign that's equivalent to the chinese ...

For that reason, I never really paid much mind to Chinese Astrology, until I stumbled upon a book that offered different Ascendants for each hour of birth. This put an entirely different spin on Chinese Astrology than most Americans are offered on Chinese Buffet placemats!

Upon inquiry into my Chinese Ascendant, I learned that I am an Ox Rising. Immediately, I remember thinking that my grandfather was an Ox, and about how much he and I were so similar in character in temperament. Oxen are very hardworking, loyal, authoritative, and determined individuals. I most definitely feel the Ox inherent in my personality, perhaps more so than the Ram/Sheep/Goat.

In Western Astrology, I am a Libra rising, but again, there is the theme of Libra being depicted as docile and passive, which I am MOST DEFINITELY not. All in all, I'd day the Ox is more descriptive of my persona.

the one below is mine. i am scorpio rising with pluto conj asc. i feel it is more accurate than the animal coz although i relate to leo it is my moon and my sun is in the virgo decan of taurus. i do not feel virgo at all tho.

Not sure what you mean by Chinese Asc. I have studied a bit about bazi (the 4 pillars) and ziwei (Chinese astrology). I dont think they have an ascendant for either.

For bazi, your core personality is the day ruler (ri zhu, or the top character of the 3rd pillar), and the strength of your day ruler is governed primarily whether it is supported or opposed by the month ruler (ie the strongest element among fire, water, metal, wood and earth in that month, bottom character of the 2nd pillar) as well as its relationship with the other 6 characters excluding the month ruler. The time of birth is reflected by the 4th pillar (in relation with the day/3rd pillar)
