Ashton Kutcher is currently catching heat for donning brownface in an ad (full disclosure: he's so awkward and unfunny in it that it's painful to watch) and portraying an Indian douchebag stereotype. As we all know, Ashton is an Aquarius.

It got me thinking of all the other people who've caught heat for being culturally insensitive.

- South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone - a Libra and a Gemini.

- Jamie Kennedy caught heat for playing a wigger in "Malibu's Most Wanted" back in 2003 - he's a Gemini.

- "Borat" creator Sasha Baron Cohen, who is a Libra, for basically everything he does including the upcoming movie "The Dictator" (can't wait!).

- Robert Downey Jr. who caught heat for donning blackface in "Tropic Thunder." He's actually an Aries.

- Mike Myers caught heat for "The Love Guru" - he's a Gemini.

- Eminem actually got off on offending people (as does Simon Cowell); he's a Libra.

With the exception of Robert Downey Jr., all of those people are air signs.

I wish astrology was more widespread and mainstream so people could understand people's motives a little better. It's not that air signs are TRYING to be racist, it's just that nothing is sacred and everything is funny. They're going for laughs.

I realized that maybe it's because of my own placements, but I find every single one of those people or those roles (can't say I've seen "Love Guru" though) to be hilarious.

I loved the Goldmember character in Austin Powers 3.

"There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch."

Mike Myers is a genius.

haha I love this thread! I agree, people should lighten up, all this political correctness is absurd, to me the funniest things are those things we are afraid to talk about or point out, that's why I love comics like Aquarius ralphie may, he is not afraid to be politically incorrect and its comedic gold.

I have a friend with an Aqua moon, he can’t take anything seriously (except for work-he’s a Virgo sun), and he’s always making jokes and likes to poke fun at social norms- sometimes at other people’s expense. My Sag moon usually HATES any sort of discrimination, racism, stereotyping, etc., but I know the spirit he makes these jokes in and I find him completely hilarious anyway. My Venus is in Aqua so maybe that has something to do with it.

I’m personally not a huge fan of Tosh.0 at all, but his sense of humor reminded me so much of this person that I guessed he had Aqua somewhere prominent, and sure enough his moon is either in Cappy or Aquarius. I’m thinking Aqua. Plus he’s a Gemini sun.

Sarah Silverman has a Gemini ascendant(if the birth time is right). I don’t know many other celebrities or comedians data, but I think you have some great examples, and make a really good point about the air signs!

Russell Peters is an Indian-Canadian comedian who has caught heat for being culturally insensitive - to his own culture, for god's sake!

Just looked him up, he's a Libra.

I just don't think humour is all that funny if it's "safe." That's why rom-coms don't appeal to me (40-Year-Old Virgin, though, I LOOOOOVED). At least make it raunchy. Chances are, if there aren't at least a few people offended, I'm yawning.

see that's the thing its not discrimination its just finding another culture amusing, for example it is a long running gag among black comedians to make fun of how white men can't dance and its funny because mostly its true, as a white man I can laugh at it and not take any offense, I know its all in good fun,its not rasicm at all,we should all learn to laugh at ourselves

I agree!! Take the South Park creators, for instance. How can people honestly say that they're racist when they also have made fun of every single religion out there and these are their wives?:

If astrology was more mainstream, people would realize that air signs just don't take things as seriously as other people.

That is what makes them effective comedians and entertainers.

I also agree! Pretty much everything Dave Chappelle did in his comedy was for exactly that purpose, to show that if we can talk about and laugh at these stereotypes and laugh at ourselves, maybe they won't have so much power in a negative way.

People didn't get it though, which is why he stopped lol

I thought he stopped because he became too famous. He was offered millions upon millions to keep doing it and he just walked away and went back to anonymity.

I realized looking back that there were signs he didn't like fame - he wisecracked about people coming up to him and saying, "I'M RICK JAMES, ***** !" when he was at Disneyworld with his kids, lulz.

Yeah that too lol, he didn’t like all the fame and attention, but I think he was actually trying to make a serious statement, or at least bring up serious topics through his comedy and people just couldn’t grasp it…

"Chappelle told the crowd he knew why they liked his sketch-comedy show: "Because it's good. You know why my show is good? Because the network officials say you're not smart enough to get what I'm doing, and every day I fight for you. I tell them how smart you are. Turns out, I was wrong.

"You people are stupid."

Just to add another example (and for those of you who watch cartoons), the creator of the Boondocks Aaron McGruder is a Gemini sun last time I checked. His controversial cartoon strip/show satirizes african-american culture and (often racial) politics. Interesting observation on air signs and comedy, btw. ^_^

Yes if all the different cultures of the world could learn to laugh and not take our differences so seriously we wouldn't have any wars.

It's about $$$/land/resources... cultural/religious differences are the excuse.

Or is that only what we unimaginative earth types think?

In all seriousness I agree with you. I am an unimaginative earth type as well.

But I also think it would be great for every day interactions if we could learn to laugh and not take our differences so seriously

Andrew Dice Clay is another air sign (Libran) whose raunchy comedic antics has caused much controversy. Some loathe him. I think he's hilarious. I have my Moon, Merc and Venus in Libra, maybe that's why..

It's an air trait to be somewhat detached in manner, some can perceive this as standoffish and rude. They're also very interpretive people and they like to communicate this. But you can get outspoken people of all elements..

Lisa Lampanelli is another completely offensive comedian. Surprisingly, she is a Cancer sun. Moon in Libra and Venus in Gemini. She is HILARIOUS.

Also Chelsea Handler (Pisces sun) with her Mercury in Aquarius. She has an "assistant" named Chewey. I believe he is Mexican. She calls him her "Nugget" and rails on him to no end. Her whole show is pretty offensive, BUT, all in good fun.

Norm McDonald was another one... Wikipedia says this about him:

quote:
Macdonald's version of Weekend Update often included repeated references to prison rape, crack w*****s and the Germans' love of Baywatch star David Hasselhoff.

He's a Libra too lol.
