We hate to be rude. We don't like confrontation, even when people say things that are hurtful to us. We just don't like unpleasantness or nastiness or fighting. Not to say that we never do it, but we don't like it, and at least speaking for myself, I feel awful afterwards--like a sort of emotional hangover. Direct confrontation isn't something natural or normal for us, unless we have certain placements. It's something that we need to do (sometimes, and in tactful ways), but hate doing, don't feel safe or comfortable doing, and something that feels awful to us. Really, we like peace and harmony and getting along. We may get crabby and moody when our scales are out of whack, and can dip into outright unpleasantness, but equilibrium is where we like to be.
