For the last days I`ve been reading and watching a few videos/ articles by Kevin Burk (classical astrology for the most part). He apparently interpretes planets in signs, using the 5 dignities (rulership - exaltation - triplicity - term - face), and compares it to a "board of directors meeting" having to conclude how to go about what the planet is about (how to have fun or grow in Jupiter`s case). I have never seen that approach before, but I find it fascinating, and it makes so much sense in my own chart. Even more so it is actually a good exercise in interpretation. (of course with the dignities only the classical planets are being used) Let`s see my board of directors for Jupiter on 11 Pisces looks like that. - Jupiter in Pisces (because Jupiter rules Pisces) - 5 votes - Venus in Caprciron (Venus exalted in Pisces) - 4 votes - Mars in Sagittarius (triplicity) - 3 votes - Jupiter in Pisces (term) - 2 votes - Jupiter in Pisces (face) - 1 vote
So in terms of how I am going to bring fun into my life, or what I view as fun, we can see even without going into it that Jupiter is REALLY strong, it`s got 8 votes there! So the others can only be subtle modification, but Jupiter in Pisces is really the one calling the shots, especially as Jupiter reports to,w ell, Jupiter (as it rules Pisces - traditionally). So Mars has something to say here as well, some minor votes, he will say something about how I actually ACT to bring fun into my life, and to whom does HE report? Jupiter! lol Now the only one who is not pointing at Jupiter is actually Venus. So fun is not only spiritual and dreams and fantasy (Pisces there), but has to be something of value,s omething even having to do with love, partnership or the arts. But now who does Venus report to? Saturn!
So there would be nothing frivolous about those things, but there would be a certain sincerity and following rules and a structured approach, in both, the way I approach having fun as well as probably my taste. This is very true for me actually. This mix of Jupiter (Neptune), Venus and Saturn probably describes my taste quite good. I really enjoy historical pieces, costume films for example. And to be honest I do not really like modern theatre, it has to be, well, classical and structured for me being able to relate to it.
Of course this is already inherent in my Venus position who has her say in what I find joy in, what I love, what I value and appreciate. Anyway just found these videos here and wanted to share them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeyDa38WBTg&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNMqJtFSnz4&feature=relmfu IP: Logged |

You mean Sun is Sag gives 5 votes to Jup? Because otherwise I don't quite understand (I admit I didn't watch the videos) IP: Logged |

Hera,it`s not like Sun GIVES votes to a planet in the sense of giving it away. Actually the Sun gives the context of the question, in the case of the Sun that would probably be the Self. So my Sun is in Sagittarius, which is ruled by Jupiter, so my Self to a big part is determined by Jupiter. (actually his approach simply translates the signs into their planetary rulers, which is consistent with classical astrology, which, as far as I know, started out with the planets and give them rulership over a certain part of the sky - what we came to know as signs).
So my Self (my Sun) will be determined by my jupiter and how it expresses. What does Jupiter care about? What`s his game? Well, whatever it is it is big, and it involves dreams, ideals, expansion, growth. So that is what lies at the basis of my Self. And since Jupiter is in Pisces, this of course modifies it even more. Very dreamy dreams right there. (it also might explain why one Sun in Sag is so different from another Sag-Sun btw, just judging from signplacements alone). Now in Sag no planet is exaltated. But it is also in the triplicity of Jupiter, so this Jupiter geets 8 votes, and has really MUCH to say about how my Sun expresses.
Mars in Sagittarius gets 2 votes, much less, but might be a minor influence, too. But Mars if in the sign of Jupiter, who is already a member of the board of directors, and again brings us back to Jupiter. saturn in Cancer is pretty neglible I think, with one meagre vote, though it might take care that I stay in contact with the ground now and then (not sure if it is important, but using old rulership my Moon in Aquarius is in mutual reception with my Saturn in Cancer). Anyway with 8 votes and a Mars that orients itself to Jupiter as well, my Sun is very much expressed through my Jupiter in Pisces.
Which is just a different approach, but I have grown tired of hearing all the time how optimistic, outgoing, extravert, etc. Sagittarians are. Or how relatiosnhip-oriented, undecided, striving for balance and peace, Librans are. These things are still valid and true, but I have come to believe that they are not the BASIC meaning, they are already derived from something more basic, a common misnomer if you so want. My approach has been a different one, looking at how the signs are being put together in terms of element and modality and also in which natural quadrant they fall. But Burk`s approach is new for me, and I thought it was interesting and worth trying it out. Especially since I more or less consciously always have been taking note of the dispositor of a sign (which is nothing else than checking the rulership). IP: Logged |

Ohhhhhhh! Okay, I see, I see! I am game! Sun in Aries 13deg -Mars in Aries 5 votes -Sun in Aries 4 votes -Jupiter in Sag 3 votes -Venus in Taurus 2 votes -Sun in Aries 1 vote
I guess I am pretty complex hmm. Moon in Sag 29 deg -Jupiter in Sag 5 votes -Jupiter in Sag 3 votes -Mars in Aries 2 votes -Saturn in Scorpio 1 vote Not very surprising that my Moon is so Jupiterian, but with a tint of Mars and Sat.. Mercury in Aries 22 deg -Mars in Aries 5 votes -Sun in Aries 4 votes -Jupiter in Sag 3 votes -Mars in Aries 2 votes -Venus in Taurus 1 vote Well my thinking is def Martian, cutting, fast, to the point, no sugarcoating. Venus in Taurus 18 deg -Venus in Taurus 5 votes -Moon in Sag 4 points -Moon in Sag 3 points -Jupiter in Sag 2 points -Moon in Sag 1 vote Mars in Aries 28 deg -Mars in Aries 5 votes -Sun in Aries 4 votes -Jup in Sag 3 votes -Saturn in Sco 2 votes -Venus in Tau 1 vote
Jup in Sag 10 deg -Jup in Sag 5 votes -Jup in Sag 3 votes -Venus in Tau 2 votes -Moon in Sag 1 vote Saturn in Scorpio 2 deg -Mars in Aries 5 votes -Mars in Aries 3 votes -Mars in Aries 2 votes -Mars in Aries 1 vote How should I interpret that?? IP: Logged |

Haha, Hera, your Saturn is conjunct my 11th house cusp (1 Scorpio), so for me my approach to how I relate to groups and finding friends is Mars, Mars, mars. Though my Mars of course reports back to Jupiter. It seems like he is the king of all my planets. Well, except for Moon and Venus. I am not really sure how to interprete Saturn as a personal planet though.
You should really watch the longer video about Jupiter on 1 Capricorn. I find it so hilarious and yet educative to imagine this board of directors like several voices in our head, deliberating how to go about the issues of the main planet. And I think the keyquestion is always: What do they care about? And whom do they report to? Who has influence over them?
And if they are placed in a sign whose ruler is already part of the council, this planet seems to get big influence. Like in my case when Mars is in Sag, and Jupiter is ALREADY part of the board of directors. IP: Logged |

Hera,I just noticed that in your mercury`s board there are so many planets in their own sign. I wonder if that contributes to your communication style and thinking being so poignant and to the point. Very strong opinions probably, as each planet is in his own sign, really not all that wishy washy or uncertain (at least in terms of thinking and communicating). And YES, Mars gets the cake. Definitely.

You have a REALLY feely Venus there! I never noticed that before about it.Of course Venus is in Taurus, therefore Venus is its own ruleSo there is a real need for relationships there. But Moon has even MORE votes (7), so your Venus needs to listen to your moon needs to feel appreciated, validated, even attracted, which means there needs to be a real emotional connection and feeling safe and like you belong to that other person (of course this kind of fits to Taurus as well, but it seems more emotional than the average Taurus). And Jupiter also has his say there, though more subtly. There must be some idealism attached to it, the chance to grow personally.
Remember paul? he has Venus in Taurus as well, but on 3 Taurus. His board of directors would look like this: Venus in Taurus - 5 votes Moon in Taurus - 4 votes Moon in Taurus - 3 votes Venus in Taurus - 2 votes Mercury in Aries - 1 vote Well, I think we can forget about mercury here. lol In his case Venus and Moon are equally strong, though since both planets are in Taurus and Venus rules Taurus, Venus is much stronger here. His proorities would be different to yours. Of course the directors here are similiar, but in his case his need for appreciation would be greater than his need for feeling safe or deep emotional connections. While in your case it would be a bit more important to feel emotionally connected. Of course these are only subtle nuances, but I find it interesting, how two people with the same Venus-sign can come up with subtly different mixes.

Haha, well yeah, I can see Mars and Jup fighting in my head for power! One wants to be selfish and go after what he wants, the other is concerned about ethics! And it never ends lol. Then comes Venus who wants to be loved and appreciated haha and Sat who gives his votes back to Mars. Weird that MERCURY has zero influence on my decision making. Oh, and my NN is in Gem, the cruelty! As for Venus, yeah.. she's a sweet sentimental gal heehee. But I don't let her out much coz she's kinda dumb unaspected and all, too naive and trusting. Moon also reports back to Jup and yeah.. I can see Jup influencing my Venus.. *sigh* IP: Logged |

Well, it is such a different way of thinking for me, I am feeling all dizzy. lolBut it is interesting. My Moon for example. Saturn in Cancer has 5 votes there Mercury in Sag has 4otes Venus in Cap has 2 votes So in order to feel safe and emotionally connected I have to pay attention to what Saturn and mercury want. Well, mostly Saturn, as even Venus reports back to Saturn. it is certainly a rather unemotional moon on first glance. But interestingly Saturn actually reports back to MOON. I guess you could summarize this Moon with worrying about how to feel (Moon) the right way (Saturn) in order to feel safe. A regulated environment would be helpful. Also sometimes an inner censor on feelings, but at the same time the need for sparse, but very sincere, mature emotional connections, yet fearing feelings at the same time (Saturn in Cancer). Adding to that Mercury analyzing and communicating. And of coruse Mercury reports back to Jupiter. Actually that sounds more like me like the notion of Moon in Aquarius. Well, this certainly is true as well, I just feel like this other approach adds another dimension to the understanding of that planet.

Hmmm, yes, I agree! I certainly do not see you as unfeeling! Hmm, my mom is Aqua Moon too, but since I don't know her exact time of birth, don't know the exact degree of the Moon. But you two are quite different, from what I can tell. Oh, but you mentioned cusps! And I thought I'd do this for my cusps as well! Asc 23 deg Cap -Saturn in Sco 5 votes -Mars in Aries 4 votes -Moon in Sag 3 votes -Mars in Aries 2 votes -Sun in Aries 1 vote
Interesting how much Mars controls my Asc directly or indirectly 2H cusp 13 Pisces -Jupiter in Sag 5 votes -Venus in Tau 4 votes -Mars in Aries 3 votes -Jupiter in Sag 2 votes -Jupiter in Sag 1 vote I am actually quite generous with the people I love. 3H cusp 23 Aries like Mercury since they're conj -Mars in Aries 5 votes -Sun in Aries 4 votes -Jupiter in Sag 3 votes -Mars in Aries 2 votes -Venus in Taurus 1 vote At least there is consistency with this one. IC/4H cusp 21 Taurus slightly different than Venus in Taurus though conj but diff decanates. -Venus in Taurus 5 votes -Moon in Sag 4 votes -Moon in Sag 3 votes -Jup in Sag 2 votes -Saturn in Scorpio 1 vote 5H cusp 12 Gemini -Mercury in Aries 5 votes -Mercury in Aries 3 votes -Jup in Sag 2 votes -Mars in Aries 1 vote 6H cusp 1 Cancer -Moon in Sag 5 votes -Jupiter in Sag 4 votes -Mars in Aries 3 votes -Mars in Aries 2 votes -Venus in Tau 1 vote No wonder I am always dieting lol DC 23 Cancer -Moon in Sag 5 votes -Jupiter in Sag 4 votes -Mars in Aries 3 votes -Venus in Tau 2 votes -Moon in Sag 1 vote Moon and eventually Jup win. Might be responsible for my latest fancy with foreigners. 8H cusp 13 Virgo -Mercury in Aries 5 votes -Mercury in Aries 4 votes -Moon in Sag 3 votes (how sweet) -Venus in Tau 2 votes -Venus in Tau 1 vote So intellectual, emotional and sensual. What more can one want? 9H cusp 23 Libra -Venus in Tau 5 votes -Saturn in Sco 4 votes -Mercury in Aries 3 votes -Mercury in Aries 2 votes -Jupiter in Sag 1 vote Another mixed one... MC 21 Scorpio -Mars in Aries 5 votes -Mars in Aries 3 votes -Venus in Tau 2 votes -Venus in Tau 1 vote well surgery is def there.. with hint of aesthetics. Yeah. 11H cusp 12 Sag -Jupiter in Sag 5 votes -Jupiter in Sag 3 votes -Venus in Tau 2 votes -Moon in Sag 1 vote 12H cusp 1 Cap -Saturn in Sco 5 votes -Mars in Aries 4 votes -Moon in Sag 3 votes -Venus in Tau 2 votes -Jup in Sag 1 vote If I think in terms of spirituality and karma, I'd say I've had my share. I havenīt done it for my housecups yet, but interesting how Mercury is in charge of your 5th house! Do you feel like that? That you need an intellectual connection for feeling a spark of attraction?my own 5th house cusp is on 1 Taurus. So Venus in Cap - 5 votes Moon in Aqua - 4 votes Moon in Aqua - 3 votes Venus in Cap - 2 votes Mercury in Sag - 1 vote so both, Venus and Moon get 7 votes, I guess this is where my attraction to creative artistic people comes in, who coincidentally vibe with Saturn and uranus a lot. lol my DESC on 7 Gemini Mercury. 5 votes Mercury in Sag- 4 votes Jupiter in Pisces 3 votes Jupiter in Pisces 1 vote
so mercury-Jupiter really mark my approach to relationships, though mercury wins hands down - 9 votes! lol Then again Mercury reports back to Jupiter. cusp of 8th house on 12 Cancer Moon in Cancer - 5 votes Jupiter in pisces - 4 votes Mars in sag - 3 votes Jupiter in Pisces - 2 votes Mercury in Sag - 1 vote
Jupiter-Moon right there, with a hint of Mars, but interesting, how both sexual hosues (5th and 8th) contain the softer planets and the needs for emotional connection especially, while when it is about the relationship per se it is all about mercury, understanding, analyzing, communication etc. But it fits. While my attractions are purely based on an emotional pull or even on dreams (lol), I would never get into a relationship without checking the mental aspect of it. IP: Logged |

my own MC on 5 LibraVenus in Cap - 5 votes Saturn in Cancer - 4 votes Mercury in Sag - 3 votes Saturn in Cancer - 2 votes Moon in Aquarius - 1 vote Saturn-Venus-mercury Well, interestingly people, especially authority figures, seem to think that I am an exceptionally organized, structured worker with a lot of common sense and the ability to bring people together for a joint work (because I am so diplomatic and not taking things personally). Well, I always feel they couldnīt be further from the truth, especially about the organized-thing. lol My IC: 5 Aries
Mars in Sag - 5 votes Sun in Sag - 4 votes Jpuiter in Pisces- 3 votes Jupiter in Pisces - 2 votes Mars in Sag - 1 vote Mars seems a bit stronger here, but since it reports to Jupiter, I think the last word probably might go to Jupiter or to them both. Well, I have some issues with Mars-energy, especially when it comes to expressing it consciously. lol But this sounds quite a bit like me, yes. If I look deep down, then of course there are the big dreams of Jupiter there, but Mars definitely is there as well, sometimes taking the form of suppressed anger (though I am letting it out more than I used to do; it is not a good thing to bottle Mars up for too long, especially when it conjuncts Neptune and the ASC). I can get really mad when I feel like some ethics are being violated, or human rights. Actually that is something I can fight for. I was never really assertive as a kid, but if I could fight FOR someone or protect someone or fight for a good CAUSE, there were no limits to my energy, which seemed nonexistent when it came to myself.

rulership - exaltation - triplicity - term - face are the essential dignities as per Ptolemaios. I posted a link to the table. So if you have a planet in 16 Sagittarius (does not really matter what planet). You look at the first column, where it sais: Sagittarius. Then you just follow the horizontal line. For 16 Sagittarius it is like this: rulership: Jupiter: 5 votes exaltation: no planet is exalted (I don`t consider the nodes) triplicity: it depends if you have a night or day chart. If your Sun is from 1st to 6th house: nigth chart if it is above the horizon: daychart so for daychart: Sun for nightchart: Jupiter 3 votes term: Mercury (Mercurys term reaches from 6°01-19°00 Sag)
2 votes face: Moon (valid from 10°01-20°00 Sagittarius) 1 vote
every planet that has at least 3 votes, is said to have a say in how the planet you have been looking at (in your case the Sun) expresses.
Planets with 2 and 1 votes are subtle influences (and most of the time taking notes and in Mercury`s case not paying all that much attention I guess just kidding). I like the way Kevin Burk uses this board of directors idea in the form of improvising a meeting, an improvised scene, witht he planets really VOICING their opinions on the matter of hand.
For example. if the question is: what do you need to feel safe? (Moon). And let`s say Mars gets 5 votes and Saturn gets 6 (no clue if that is possible at all).
Then Mars would say (for simplicity reasons let`s say Mars is in Aries): Oh to feel comfortable and safe I really need to get out there and DO something. I want to go bungee jumping - that is my idea of feeling safe. Then I feel really alive. And I really want to discover something new, be a pioneer. I just need to DO somethng, something must HAPPEN and please right NOW and HERE, then I am happy and feeling safe. Living is not for cowards and losers, you have risk something, do something new and fresh. But then Saturn also has a big word in it. And he might turn to Mars and say. "I`d appreciate it if we could talk about that calmly and reasonably and without getting personal, and please stop bumping your fist into the table to every word. You`ll only ruin the wooden surface. And I understand you well without you getting loud.
About the matter of hand: To feel safe I need structure, a reliable environment. I need to know the rules and if I do, keeping to the rules, gives me a sense of safety, even if it is only me making the rules. But I need to have principles and stick to them. Rushing somewhere blindly and foolheartedly doesnīt make me feel safe at all. Before going out there and letting Mars discover the new worlds, I need to think about a plan. But just in case we can come up with something - and I am not yet convinced about that-, I`d agree to systematize the things Mars will be stumbling upon by coincidence and will create a structure. That is the way how I can feel safe. I must know I am doing the right thing. And that others keep to the code as well. (at that point Mars will probably be rolling his eyes and tapping his fingers impatiently on the desk and at snorting something that sounds like: Boring. Boring. Why are we still here? I should be out there DOING something). Anyway since Saturn gets 6 votes, he would have the last word. BUT he has to make sure that mars will be satisfied as well. or the person will not feel safe. If Saturn suppresses Mars, the person might start building an anger directed towards themselves at first or at some point simply explode with it.
They have to find a way to agree, which means that even though Saturn usually wouldnīt really go out there and conquer the world on his own, he might agree to that strong urge in Mars, IF the conquering and discovering could be arranged according to conditions Saturn is comfortable with, with a bit of organizing and planning in advance for example. Hera, our draconics look quite intense. Noticed that Mars/Pluto-Pluto opposition? It overlays the 3rd-9th/ 10th-4th, which would relate to being relatives rather than lvoers.
Though there is Venus on DESC - looks at least nice. IP: Logged | |
