Lotis White,
I am totally fascinated with Tristan and Isolde (was writing a paper on these in university), and like you it struck me so much. I actually tend to look these asteroids up in synastries to see where tragedy might keep lovers apart (well, not only tragedy from the outside, but where they stand in their own way as well).

Well, I guess it is not hard tosee astrologically why.
ISOLDA is on 3 Aries on my IC squaring TRISTAN on 3 Capricorn (only 2 degrees off my VESTA and 3 degrees off my Venus).

Hi Ceri,

Interestingly, in my chart I've got Tristan at 4 degrees of Scorpio (sextile my Sun), and Isolda at 11 degees of Sag (trine my Mars) in my chart. I guess that explains why the tale had an effect on me.

As in, I can enjoy it in music, film, TV, books, etc. (as long as it isn't graphic/gory/make me sick and queasy--I appreciate more emotional tragedy than physical), and can enjoy seeing how it profoundly affects a character, but I don't like it happening to me.

I don't like happy endings if they seem out of place/forced. I like to have a balance of sad and happy endings, endings that seem one way but are actually another (example: one that seems sad, but something good comes of it, or vice versa), and open endings.

Hi,

Even though I usually prefer happy endings in fiction (with a few rear exceptions), I also hate if the happy endings seems forced and unnatural. What I really appreciate is when someone has the all out GENIUS to come with a happy ending that makes perfect sense, and feels just right, while getting their hero/heroine out of the most outrageous, or hopeless of situations. That, to me is true brilliance in a storyteller. It's easy to get your central protagonist into trouble, but can you think of a clever, believable way to get them out of it? I also don't mind if the ending is a little bitter/sweet, as long as there is more sweetness then bitterness. Like the main character has gained more then they lost in their journey, even if there's still some lingering sadness.

That is interesting. BTW your Isolda conjuncts my Neptune-NN on 10 Sag.
I think however that probably there will be even more links between your Tristan/Isolda to personal points. But anyway, it is intriguing how they are aspecting your masculine planets.

Have you tried PYRAMUS (14871) and THISBE (88)?

(The story about Pyramus and Thisbe is the "model", Shakespeare used for Romeo and Juliet).

my Pyramus is on 24 Leo trine Sun, and Thisbe is on 00 Virgo.
They are not doing awfully much in my chart, though, not like Tristan and Isolda (and of course Lancelot/Guinevere/Arthur are a good pairing to check too).

LANCELOT is on 16 Scorpio, making an EXACT grand trine with Juno on 16 Pisces and Saturn on 16 Cancer.
GUINEVERE is on 10 Cap exact conjunct asteroid SPIRIT and squaring Pluto.
ARTHUR is on 21 Cap, the exact degree of my Sun/moon-mp and Antivertex.

Not wanting to make this an asteroid based thread,b ut these are the tragic pairings I can think of.

I have Pluto & Neptune in aspect to Moon,Venus.
I love sad endings, but only those that end in a way that can't be changed, like death. (in art) Anything else is just lazy, sappy and sacrificing for a whim.
But,I don't sad ending in order to feel that a relationship is true. Love doesn't have to be affected by pain.

I have Moon in Aquarius.

To me love is never as intensely felt as in the moment of goodbye.

EDIT:
though Venus square Pluto might figure in, too

Laying in the after glow
I only want to learn what you know
But now you're leaving
How many hearts must you break?
How many calls must I make?
But now you're leaving
In this world all that I choose has come unbearable
But love is in your touch
Oh it's killing me so much
Only when tou leave
I'll need to love you
And when the action has all gone
I'm just a little fool enough to need you
Fool enough too long
Only when you leave, you'll leave in danger
Oh I'll make sure that you pay
So give a little passion to a stranger
And take this soul away
I only want to make this things last
So how could this have gone so fast
And now you're leaving
How many times must I learn
It' s only when you've gone that I burn
And now you're leaving
In the end, all that I left has come unbearable
It's hard to change your mind,
So leave it all behind
Only when you leave
I'll need to love you
And when the action has all gone
I'm just a little fool enough to need you
Fool enough to long
Only when you leave, you'llleave in danger
Oh I'll make sure that you pay
So give a little passion to a stranger
And take this soul away

This quote really moved me:

"“He came up and kissed me on my forehead, and before he stepped away, I closed my eyes and tried hard to memorize this moment. I wanted to remember him exactly as he was right then, how his arms looked brown against his white shirt, the way his hair was cut a little too short in the front. Even the bruise, there because of me.

Then he was gone.

Just for that moment, the thought that I might never see him again… it felt worse than death. I wanted to
run after him. Tell him anything, everything. Just don’t go. Please just never go. Please just always be near me, so I can at least see you.

Because it felt final. I always believed that we would find our way back to each other every time. That no matter what, we would be connected—by our history, by this house. But this time, this last time, it felt final. Like I would never see him again, or that when I did, it would be different, there would be a mountain between us.

I knew it in my bones. That this time was it. I had finally made my choice, and so had he. He let me go. I was relieved, which I expected. What I didn’t expect was to feel so much grief.

Bye bye, Birdie.”
