I think I know what you mean... how artistic ability often stems from trauma, melancholia, deep depressions, sufferings, etc. right? Sort of how Edward Munch or Kurt Cobain were...that's what came to mind. Both equated pain to success and Munch especially embraced his neuroses and difficulties in life because it gave him a lot of artistic potential.

As to what kind of chart one with this mindset would have: many different factors. But some common ones seem to be...

A. 12th house Pluto: immense personal digging and psychological power, sometimes Plutonian power seethes out in unexpected ways leading to guilt and questioning your own motives, wondering if you're insane; also an unclear use of personal power; a lot of hidden ability to entice and power others

B. Saturn and/or Pluto-ASC/DSC contacts, appear in many tortured famous and artistic people who fed off their pain, showing how many had intense and volatile or depressing and damaging interpersonal relationships [Cobain and Morrison come to mind]

It doesn't have to be solely artistic ability as well. I meant overall success no matter what industry.

Sounds like a harsh aspect between Venus and Pluto, and Venus and Saturn.

And maybe the Sun or Mars in place of Venus making those harsh aspects, too.

But Venus represents our self-worth, Sun our Ego, and Mars our drive and desires. An afflicted Venus by Saturn/Pluto may be stuck believing that things always have to be the hard way so that they can get desired result, not only just love. The afflicted Sun tries to overcompensate maybe for what they feel is lacking, and afflicted Mars may push itself way too hard, no pain no gain type deal, or put all that positive energy towards negativity.

If I didn't answer your question correctly you may disregard.

Answer to the original question: Yes, sometimes. But that pain should eventually give way to happiness and or joy or else it's not worth it.

Your career or job can't be continuously painful or it will get you nowhere and maybe give you health problems too.

No; lots of people go out and manage to have successful lives without having had some deep trauma inflicted on them at some point.

I think all you need to be successful, is to work hard. Your past experiences are more or less irrelevant.

Past experiences often mold a person and make them who they are, for better or worse. Two kids could grow up in the same home, suffer similar kinds of abuse, but one will take it to the limit and another might crumble and not make it very far.

There's a lot that plays into life, in work and relationships. People are often doing the best they can.

Lots of people DO manage to go out and have successful lives after suffering some sort of trauma or abuse at some point. Most people are pretty resiliant. Others dont or arent. Weather they suffer abuse or not. They "suck it up" and get the job done. Others cant. as hard as they might try to. It's harder when you come from nothing and your parents didnt hand you **** or you didnt have a strong family support system. Combine those two and it's a really rough road for some people. . As often happens when I hear people talking **** about others - they came from money and were babied and spoiled and had supportive families. Not always but often. Watch how quickly they look down on others who are less "fortunate".

I don't think all you need to be successful is to work hard. Some people work their ***** off all their lives and don't get very far. Especially in this day and age, there are many educated people out there desperate for jobs and cant' get them. Great parenting from the start helps an individual a lot too. You need heart and soul as well. You also need strength if your past has been a rocky or painful one.

I'd like to hear less from the kids who grew up with trust funds and had everything handed to them and more from people who've come from nothing and made their way in the world on their own, especially after many trials and tribulations.

Otherwise, shut up and keep living that sweet life that was handed to you.

Mainly - it has to... if you put it like that "deep seeded pain in order to be successful" - either in painting, writing, sculpture or other form of art... traumas don't help much with other domains - it's quite the opposite...

Not quite... - success comes in many forms and yes, in some cases you have to work hard to get somewhere, but if you piked a profession that's not suited for you... you can work all your life without achieving much... then, we have those people that work in vain - and work really hard like my grandpa did for 60 years, working in the fields from 7 in the morning till the Sun was down... and didn't really achieved much - cause he had no skills in terms of understanding agriculture beyond the work part and be successful at what he was doing - he just worked hard... like most people, like robots - that can't go beyond what their programmed to do... but work alone has very little meaning in terms of success - if you don't have a clear purpose or a great intuition - seeing something that others can't... yet, in some cases success comes from luck, stupidity and so on...

I think I am experiencing the reverse and I'm being looked down upon for having a wealthy background. No really. Not kidding.

There's nothing wrong with that either. It's all in how you use it. Money is a tool, and in it's most base form, just another energy, like love, friendship etc. (triple earth sign thinking here...

There is nothing wrong with being poor or wealthy - or one better than the other, in the end it's what you do with it.

I've known a number of wealthy people, but they wouldnt give a dime to a bum - extremely stingy people. Then I've known some people who had nothing, but would give their last bit of food to a starving person.. ..or the piece of clothing off their back. Most generous people you could ever meet - the people who didnt really have much to give were the ones who gave it first. most freely, readily and without strings attached.

Who's really the wealthy one in the end?

alright. bedtime. lol

LazyScarecrow,

7th Guardian, yeah, it's all ultimately an exchange and grand illusion at the same time. Imagine that. Wrap your brain around it, if you can.

The exchange of Love and/or Money.. one's better and more worthwhile than the other. You can decide.

Good point about pain. I am not sure on that, as I can only speak from my own skin. I am deeper and more sensitive to others pain, from the experience of my own, but I wish I didn't have to go through it to get those gifts.

Liabilities have come, too, as far as being too sensitive and skittish, so it is a hard question to answer.

You know, when you go in to a job interview or try out for any career - they really don't care what your backstory is. All they want to know is : do you have the proper training or education for the job; and, can you do it well.

Plenty of people who had good lives and families, wind up being successful.

Plenty of people who had bad ones, wind up being successful.

Plenty of people who had good lives and families, wind up underachieving.

Plenty of people who had bad lives, wind up underachieving.

At the end of the day, success is out there for anybody to have. It doesn't matter what your life was up to that point as long as you're willing to get the education you need and put in the work to get to where you want to go.

Being born with (or without) a silver spoon doesn't guarantee failure. Or success.

To answer the question from an astrological perspective, in order to be a success all you need are chart indicators that show some degree of intellect or talent (which everyone has), combined with something that shows the ability to follow-through, whether that's lots of fixed sign emphasis, or lots of fire or cardinal sign activity, or a strong Pluto.

peregrine, lots of people wouldn't mind if their pain was rewarded in success... but things don't work like that... also, lots of people would rather be in your shoes and maybe wouldn't worry about success - but things don't work like that either. To be successful in life you need to have what it takes - there's no recipe for that... but one thing is certain - those that ask around about it, how to get it... have lower chance in being successful than those that know what they're doing - success is not about daydreaming or wishful thinking... that's like asking around how to earn one million dollars fast or find true love... ^^ even the ones that are successful from this point of view don't know the answer - cause what work for them doesn't work for everybody...

Pain does not necessarily determine whether you are successful - many people who have relatively "easy" lives are just as successful/unsuccessful as those who have hard ones.

However, when well integrated, pain bestows insight and understanding that someone who sails through life unchallenged will never achieve.

So ... roll on hard aspects to outer planets if you are concerned with developing depth of understanding on a soul level.
