I've noticed that I strongly prefer upbeat and syncopated music, mostly listen to jazz (love Gypsy, ethno and Latin jazz), swing, funk and lots and lots of different ethno music (Balkan, flamenco, rumba, arabic,...)
And I'm Uranian, big time
but might also be my sag moon (squaring virgo venus).

I like electronic music (especially dubstep and drum&bass), pop, rock, metal, r&b, symphonic and classical music, indie, choirs...Generally I have a diverse taste in art.

I mostly listen to metal and any variation of rock music but I also enjoy electronica and house. When I feel relaxed I like dream-pop, shoegaze, chillwave, trip-hop..

Basically I listen to all kinds of stuff.

Now that I think about it, my tastes kind of reflect the aspects in my chart:

- metal = Mars-Pluto/Moon/Saturn T-square
- more chill stuff = Venus/Jupiter conj. & Moon sextile Venus/Jupiter

So, I think yes, that would make sense given how my taste in music is highly eclectic and ever-changing.

I prefer music that includes a lot of different elements and generally complicated compositions with classical undertones in some respect.

Everything from international, classical, choral, operatic, symphonic metal, to hip hop, to real oldies...(I have a huge obsession with music from certain eras, like the 1920's to 1940's, blues, swing, honky-tonk, blue grass, jazz fusion, ska, punk, classic rock, reggaeton, spiritual-new age, rockabilly, synthpop, industrial rock, darkwave, to whatever else is out there. the list goes on...

I'm pretty sure there's something in every possible genre that I have a liking for... it's just a matter of whether I find it mentally stimulating or emotionally provocative enough to really stay interested in it long.

It matches my Mercury-Jupiter placements very well, since they fall in my 4h, but Cap Merc, and Sag Jup ~ stellium with Nep Sag - tight aspects to Scorp Mars-Pluto, Moon, and my Ascendant.

I don't consider myself to be very Plutonian but my music taste is very Martian/Plutonian. I do have a 8th H Leo Sun square Pluto in Scorpio. Along with a strong Aries Mars. I also used to play the drums.

I mostly listen to hard rock, alternative, grunge, and as frankie2912 said, dark, emotional, brooding and angsty stuff.

I also like a little electronic/dance, some classical, and a few soundtracks.

I used to listen to Japanese Rock (J-Rock/Visual Kei/J-Pop) quite frequently.

I'm a true music lover thats gotta "feel" the music, whether it be the blues, 70's 80's 90's rock and love songs, trance, older country, a few R&B, old R&B cause its not what it used to be (except the beats are okay) and halloween and christmas music . Deep emotional songs come from the heart thats what i like the most.

My Dominant sign is Sagittarius~ so I really like to explore everything out there for expression, and inspiration. (Cancer, Scorpio, and Gemini are my top dominant signs.... I think my taste at any given moment is subject to my mood at that time... I'm a moody-bugger too!

I'm a Sag, with a really tight Scorpio Pluto/Jupiter/Mercury conjunction in wide conjunction to my Sun, so I can certainly agree with that.

I think that the planets you would look at would be more Moon, Mercury, and Venus, and what aspects they make. And maybe aspects to Neptune?

It might be possible that musical tastes might be determined by Mercury-Venus midpoints (someone else suggested something similar on the "Male voices that turn you on" thread!) or Mercury-Moon midpoints or maybe even Mercury-Whatever Your Dominant Planet Is midpoints.

As for myself, I see my musical tastes appear in different aspects.

Pluto dominant, and yes I see a lot of Pluto themes: Songs that cut through the superficial, that are very critical of the world (though not necessarily cynical), with a bit of an edge.

Pluto conjunct Mercury conjunct Jupiter 27-28* Scorpio: High value of emotional honesty, critical thinking, dark themes with a positive spin or dark themes contrasted with a happy tune. Sex positive. Stories, changes, and realizations that occur within the songs. QUALITY LYRICS REQUIRED.

Scorpio Pluto square Leo Mars + Sagittarius Sun: HIGH ENERGY. The faster a song, the better. I HATE slow songs! Possibly the fixation with battle themes (and maybe the love of a heavy, military-style drumline combines with the Taurus ASC...)

An odd one - Uranus in Capricorn: I really love when classical instruments are used in conjunction with modern instruments. Trumpets and electric guitars get me every time!
