i think aqua venus get a bad rap ... my aqua venus/sun/mercury bf is extremely affectionate and a world-class cuddler... they shower affection on the ones they love, just not 24/7 :-) and (generally) you gotta reach for them first, they aren't great at initiating stuff like hand-holding and hugs

Also a guy i'm in love with has this placement.
He is definitely not a cold person. He is kind and will let you know if he likes you. Well, for me he shows it enough.
He definitely isn't stand offish or just casual.
Maybe his sun (in pisces) in the 5th house and his moon trine venus aspect affects this?

His venus was exactly conjunct my mars so he could've been responding to THAT but we were never a couple.

Another guy who was interested in me totally came off as a Cancer or had Cancer placements. Might've been responding to my Cancer Ascendant.

Anyway, if I'm really into someone, I can be affectionate, such as hugging, holding hands. I actually think doing so is really sweet. However, if I have no interest or I'm not certain of my feelings for someone, no, I'm not going to be affectionate and yes I will be "detached."

I love me some Aquarians

My fiance has a Cancer ASC, Aqua Sun, Merc, Venus and Jupiter in his 8th house.

He had no problems showing me his interest. He quite literally followed me around all night the first night we met trying to win my attention and affection (I didn't mind one bit . )"Cold" or "distant" aren't words I would use to describe him. "Friendly" however, fits. There are times when I feel more like his best friend than his wife-to-be and that frustrates me. My Aries Venus trine my Leo ASC wants attention ALLLLLLLL the time. Or at least I wouldn't consider it a horrible thing And while he doesn't give constant affection, if I make it known that I need his attention, I get it. No questions asked, no matter what he's doing.

Somebody mentioned before that they had to be the initiator with their Aqua, I understand this 100%. Not everyone likes being the chaser though. For my Aries Venus, it may just well be a perfect pairing.

I do have to admit that my Pisces Sun makes it a little difficult to deal with the "friendliness" of the Aqua Venus placement. That's usually brough into check quickly with me voicing my neediness at that moment and him responding in kind with love and affection to soothe my racing thoughts.

Aqua Venus people aren't cold, maybe a bit cautious? I don't really know how to describe it, but I know I love them
