I'm pretty sure this was meant as a joke lol

I mean we wouldn't all like the same guy or the same kind of smell... but there would probably be some women out there who would find his BO attractive.

All animals groom themselves though - and they usually bathe in the wild...

It's true on some level that our obsession with smelling perfectly and unnaturally is over the top.

But some amount of grooming is important for hygienic reasons.. so going to the opposite extreme and *never* showering at all wouldn't be a good thing either.

Maybe that could be plausible for you or others alike - but... "i wouldn't say that." That's very far from an objective point of view. Most of us are born with 5 senses, yet - some have 6... others have 3 or 4 - for some the senses are weaker, wile for others are stronger... "we're not all alike from this point of view". Your point is faulty and unrealistic "generally speaking" - but again, maybe it applies to you - so, if everybody would be exactly like you "that might be true"...but we're not all alike, I'm certainly not like you.

Our parents teach us how to adapt in this world wile using the 5 sense, they don't/can't teach us the process - we're born with them and "based on the way we are as individuals" - we can develop "different tastes". Our senses evolve based on our individuality - which is why we don't perceive this world in same way and what applies to some doesn't apply to all.

What do/can parents teach us?

How to eat properly, as in - how to be civilized (using the spoon, the fork the knife) and what's eatable or even healthy (though - many failed/fail at this part). They can't enforce our tastes... they tried to enforce us to eat vegetables (being considered healthy and necessary for a child) - but not all of them are lucky (cause - it is luck related) - to have a child that can indulge that.

They teach us about personal hygiene - another healthy habit... one of the main cause for diseases (even deadly ones) among animals and same was valid for humans in the past... Then again - it still is in poor regions of this world... Yet, here you are - complaining about modern life and healthy habits - wile others get ill and die cause they have no choice. Though - karma has a way of dealing with ungrateful people... giving them "the life they want" - and maybe in this life, or in another life... you'll get to live like some poor souls from Africa... "same as some animals" - if your find modern life so unappealing.

Personally, I was (still am - but not as before...) very sensible when it comes to taste, smell and even what i see. Since i was a child i appraised food based "on my tastes (taste, smell - even looks)" and was quite sensible to food and what i could eat - wile my parents "were obviously - trying to teach me the opposite (that i should eat what's served - and stop being so picky)" and since "there way" didn't work - they try to adapt to my own tastes and gave me food that i could eat. Yet, they couldn't be there for me - cause of their job - and i end-up in a day care facility... where other people thought they knew best "what's good enough for a child (same as you - they consider us all to be the same)"...and tried to force me to eat Spinach (healthy - right? not for me - apparently...) - and i tried... i shove it up my throat with a vomit sensation on every byte... Later - my parents came and took me home, they noticed - something was wrong with me but weren't aware of the seriousness of my condition. My face became very pale - a yellow green, wile my eyes turned red and the skin around them turned blue... I collapsed - they called an ambulance and i end-up in Intensive-care - i don't know what they did to me there - but i do remember what they told to my parents (they mentioned it back to relatives)... that "i could have died". I spent the next 2 weeks in the hospital - in first week i was in state of comma being treated with infusions... and guess the next was recovery - cause i remember that part.

Is Spinach poison? Popeye eats it all the time - and i used to love those cartons.. my parents recommended it as well being rich in iron... yet... "my body - my tastes... said NO!"

Oil Paint, Gasoline or similar type of smells - get me very dizzy... the smell of guts, or freshly cut meat from an animal that was sacrificed recently - makes me puke... same goes for public bathrooms - where there's **** on the toilet sit - that sent of **** makes me puke - or gives me a strong sensation as if I'm about the puke...

That being said - I'm grateful for being born in a place where i can afford this luxury (of choosing what to eat)... cause in other places of the world my life would have been very short.

As for "manipulative marketing" ... there is such thing, but far from what you described. In case you haven't noticed - most perfumes use flower scents (pleasant scents "from nature") - mixed with all type of ingredients that increase the power of a specific scent. And every product "IS TESTED ON HUMANS" - before being released... a TV commercial "is very expensive"...so - the product has to be so good, that - if some would take interest in that commercial.. they'd end-up telling others about it or ware it in public and get their attention... "AND THAT'S HOW IT WORKS"... if a product tastes/smells like **** - their business is gone after the first clients try it.

So, what can i say @piscesfishgoddess - there are times when I'd like to be like you, cause there are things that i simply can't do - for being the way i am... but for most part - i like the way i am from this point of view.

He wouldn't just have his natural BO then.. He'd also smell "unhealthy" or "infectious" - which is not sexually attractive.
