Some people are naturally warm and caring towards others. They seem interested in what others have to say. They make people feel welcomed.

Some other people are quite the opposite. Not that they're not nice or make others feel uncomfortable.. but they seem very superficial in their interactions. Talk is very often ideas oriented with them or they talk about trivial subjects. They don't seem genuinely interested in getting to know another person. Actually it does feel like they don't care at all.

I'm not referring here to being an extrovert or introvert. I know some extrovert people who have a cold approach to people and some introverts can truly turn out to be very warm and welcoming once you've made the first move towards them.
Neither am I trying to judge since I've also come across cold people who were nice and polite and would never hurt anyone and some warm people who turned not to be so "good" hearted.

Either way, I was wondering if there was a way one could see this in a chart.

One exemple that comes to my mind is this girl I knew, taurus sun, virgo moon, gemini venus and mercury and cancer mars. She was nice, loved talking about intellectual matters. Could be quite emotional about petty things but overall she was kind of cold. She wasn't the kind of girl that I'd give a hug to, or knew what to say to comfort her, She also wasn't the type of person I'd go to to confide in. Basically I never felt like she cared, or was somehow interested in what I thought and such.
Some people are naturally good at this though, they're naturally good at making people feel like they care, like they're interesting and such.

The warmest people with the nicest vibes were strong in fire. Friendly, inviting, personable.

Generally cool, cold, or icy people were pronouncedly lacking in fire. Detached-feeling.

It's really interesting !! I think there's a lot of truth in what you're saying.
My sister has a lot of fire (ascendant, venus, mars) and she is really war to other people, but also has a bad temper.

Do you think that planets in first house, 5th house, or 9th house woud make someone more "fiery"?
I don't have a lot of fire myself in my chart, only a mars in sag, and an aries mc. I hope I dont come off as cold (at least how I defined it above)

I've notice fire dominant people, or Venus in fire folks are usually very warm and friendly.

The "coldest" Ime, earth/air mix

I'm testing the element theory so far and it does seem that fire and water heavy people are warmer, more caring than earth, air type, who are more cool, collected.

I wonder if besides planets signs, soemone with a prominent moon, or prominent mars would seem more watery or fiery.. or if some house emphasis could play a role in assessing this.

Yeah I actually agree with the Fire thing.

I have no Fire and I guess I'm the type of person who can seem friendly but not very "warm". It's hard to see myself objectively, though.. I don't consider myself "cold" though, not at all! I do have a strong Venus & Moon in the 5th, so I enjoy warmth and care, and huuuugs.

But I definitely notice that other people with low Fire are not particularly "welcoming", especially people with lots of Air and Earth. Water can make one too self-centered and self-protective, so they can seem very withdrawn and aloof.

I'm pretty sure Fire houses can compensate, though! Especially 1st and 5th (not sure about the 9th?).

I'm very nice and caring but I wouldn't call myself warm-at least not in general. I have my moments though.

I've got four planets plus the ac in earth, sun, jupiter, uranus and pluto. Two in air, mercury and venus, two in water, moon and neptune, and two in fire, mars and saturn.

wouldn't people lacking in fire make up for it and become the exact opposite?? I have an air singeton and I more "air" than someone with majority of planets in air. Just a thought!

I have loads of fire in my chart

Merc, Sun, Venus, and Saturn in Leo.

Cancer moon.

Am often told that I appear aloof, inapproachable to some. Must be my Cap rising. It's true, I don't like to be approached,I can make them go away without being rude or insensitive, I like to initiate contact. But am the warmest person once I get to know you and once I've decided that I like you enough to have a convo, otherwise I can be very cold,so it doesn't mean that fire placements are warm with just anyone.

Pisces suns can be warm. The guy I like is Pisces with Aries Venus and he is very warm and friendly.
Also Leo planets. A caring friend has a Leo stellium.

I have a 5th house Scorpio stellium (opposed by Saturn though), but I doubt I come off as someone warm at first, but people often confide in me. I have Leo SN too.

in my own observations, fire and water placements gives a person warmness

earth and air placements gives the exact opposite.

sun and moon followed by venus are the big three planets in this department.

taurus sun with virgo moon can make one look extremely cold , while virgo sun with taurus moon is less because the moon is exalted in taurus.

So far everyone seems to agree that fire people are "warmer" than any other

SaturnineMoth, thank you for this long detailed explanation. I really think you have a point here with the ideaa of looking at "social" house rulers ! I am goign to look more into this with the chart of people I know.
Unfortunately I don't know a lot of person's ascendant so if anyone is willing to test this out.

This could definitely explain why some of the most outgoing, friendly girls I know are mainly air and water. There must be something at play here with the 3rd, 7th and 11th house.

However I am confused about the second part, do you think it's a matter of synastry between people?
Can a "warm" vibe or "cold" vibe if I may say so, not be seen in the natal chart of someone?

I have no personal planets in a fire sign (the only planet in a fire sign is my jupiter in leo) and i have mostly taurus & cancer placements.
It really depends on the person, but I can be very warm towards people. They get the feeling that they can tell their secrets, problems etc to me. I make them feel comfortable.
So the whole theory about only people with a lot of fire placements in their chart are warm is false.

(I do have a stellium in the 9th house, but I don't think that counts as fire placements)

That's plenty.

Every person I know with Jupiter in Fire as a singleton - is extremely fiery.

So as long as you have *some* fire....

Jupiter tends to amplify everything anyway.

Did you mean what I said - or someone else?

What I was saying is - people who completely *lack* fire tend to be cold.

You do not lack fire. You have a Jupiter singleton in fire.

Satur9Moth; An airy person or a person with airy houses will be social for sure, but airness gives to aloofness or detachment. The warm vibes just aren't there. Air is spread out, they'll be friends with everyone equally whereas a fire person will focus more on the person in front of them, be personable.

quote:
Odette: warm: fire
cold: lack of fire

And Bearee, what Odette said! Singletons are an important thing, and even better because you don't have air, or worse, Aquarius to counter the effects of Jupiter in Leo.

I tend to agree about the detachment or airy signs. Not necessarily the aloofness (though aquarius fits this) but I also find airy signs to be very social but in an impersonal way.

However it does make sense to me that planets in social houses would make someone "warmer" i nthat they would value social relationships more right?

What are singleton exactly? Is it when a planet is alone in one side of the chart? Or does it just have to be the only one in one element, or one modality?

^The most defining singletons are planets alone in an element. I find that the AC and MC can count as singletons too.

Social houses would make sense, but the vibes and life aren't there. Take a firey person and they'll be the life of the party while an airy person will know everyone there/float around the room and chat with everyone. Not necessarily warm.

Good post....Well even tho I have a fire sun I do feel I am what you described. I am cold and my interactions are superficial. I just dont care to get too involved with people and their lives, seems like too much of a burden and something id have to keep up with and maintain. but I am also warm too or I give that impression but it stops there I dont want it to go any further.
